I was searching for 2-days for a driver-side door for my Honda and man did ever get jacked around by many other yards. I was told $80 dollars for the window-glass for the door, was a good price. When I checked an auto-parts place for new, they wanted $150 for the glass. I really didn't want to pay that much for new or used. On my 3rd day, I tried Venango's used auto-parts on State rd.. I talked to Jack, and I told him my story and asked if he had a driver-side door. He said that he would check and get back to me. I gave him my number and within 1/2 an hour he called me back. He said that they didn't have a door and that he couldn't locate one on his network, but he did have a window glass that would fit and that it was still in the existing door, which was not the right one for me. He said that he would take it out for me and have it for me by 4pm. And he said that I could have it for $50. I was ecstatic when I got there and Jack had it out and was holding the window-glass for me. I didn't even have to give him money before he would do the work. He went the extra-mile without even knowing me. He was a man of his word and even gave me tips of how to install the glass. I was completely satisfied by the professionalism and dedication to serving the customer's needs which was demonstrated at Venango's Auto Parts. I dealt with Venango's and had a bad experience. I found them to be a shady ghetto operation that should be avoided. I needed a 185/80/13 tire for a 25yo car to replace an old tire that had failed. They do not make that size tire anymore, although old used ones in that size are still reasonably available. On 11/25/14, I happened to see this place, Venango's, as I came off the Tacony Palmyra bridge. I had the old tire and rim from the other car in my trunk, so I stopped in and asked about a tire. The one they had to offer me was old (2003), and didn't have the best of tread. I didn't see any structural problems. I wanted this matter done with, so I paid them $30 for the tire and to mount it. They did not balance the tire (but they did strip and keep the weights!). I really didn't care about that because the tire was going on the rear of an old, little-used car. I just wanted this issue done with. When I asked for a receipt, the guy gave me a funny, startled look. He wrote up a receipt, but made sure to note "sold as is" on it. This would all make sense real soon. I took the tire immediately home, put it on the car, drove it a couple of miles, and parked the car. This was midday. By evening, the tire was very flat. For a newly mounted tire to go that flat that fast, something was very wrong. Right after the Thanksgiving weekend, on 12/1/14, I took the tire I had purchased from Venango's to a good tire guy I know. I was hoping something could be done with the tire I bought from these people, but I thought it was unlikely. Sure enough, my tire guy dismounted the tire and pronounced it "trash". There was a large chunk missing from the tire bead (the part of tire that contacts and seals to the wheel/rim). Venango had either mounted it incorrectly, or to be fair, the tire bead might have just crumbled on mounting because the tire was old and perhaps had been laying around for quite some time. I was near Venango's the next day (12/2/14) and stopped back to see what these people had to say. They were rude and combative: "Do you have a receipt? Where's your receipt?" Clearly, they were hoping I didn't have a receipt. I showed them my receipt, and they quickly pointed out the note on the receipt that said "Sold as is". Although annoyed, I laughed in their faces. I told them that they had sold me a tire, that they had mounted it, and that the tire was so damaged that it had gone completely flat in a matter of hours and couldn't be salvaged. What had I paid them $30 for, a chance to play the tire lottery? After $30, and more importantly, after a lot of aggravation and running around, I STILL needed a tire. They then grumbled and said that they would give a partial refund of $20..."it is better then nothing". I really couldn't care less about $20 or $30 or whatever, I just don't like getting scammed and jerked around. I couldn't believe how hard they tried to avoid standing behind what they had sold, and over a lousy $30 sale. I have sold used items as an INDIVIDUAL, including car parts (including used tires!), and I wouldn't even hesitate to immediately and completely refund someone's money in a situation like this, and apologize to the buyer for any hassle. For a BUSINESS to act like this... well, that pretty much says it all about that "business". AND HERE IS THE PRIMARY REASON I WRITE THIS LONG REVIEW.... As I handed them back their worthless tire and pointed out the damaged area, they said with contempt "That? That's nothing... you just need to use more sealer..." They then appeared to put the tire back in their pile for resale. Dear. God. Even if you slathered a bunch of sealer on the tire, mounted it, and somehow managed to have that tire hold air, the tire would still be iffy and subject to leaks or failure. If Venango does resell that tire, then that would go beyond ripping someone off... someone might well have to deal with a leaky tire or a flat, and possibly get stranded. Even worse, the tire might go out suddenly, perhaps causing a loss of control of the car. I will not go to Venango's again. I have been dealing with used parts and salvage yards for over 30 years, and cannot recall ever having a problem until I dealt with these people. (BTW, I found another 185/80/13 tire at Micciche's in NJ. It was very old (2000!), but showed no signs of rot, no repairs, and had very good tread.
