Venus was wonderful to work with! I initially met with her via Zoom for a virtual consultation to tailor my wedding dress purchased from BHLDN. She was very thorough and direct regarding the estimate and gave candid advice (I was comparing two dresses in the consultation). At her studio, she followed safety precautions by spacing out appointments and ensuring masks were worn during each visit. Venus was meticulous during each fitting and ensured that the dress draped correctly, even fixing an off centered layer. Although I only had a short time frame between the first visit and the wedding (about 10 weeks), she was able to finish the gown early and also provides a steam service as well. Due to the number of layers I had, there was some difficulty walking so she was quick to recognize this was not normal (I had no clue) and trimmed a bit off to ensure I would not trip on the dress. The final fit was absolutely perfect. She gave great instructions to prep the gown for the wedding and also provided a video of the bustling. Venus did a fantastic job and made the entire process stress-free! I would highly recommend Venchy Couture. read more

Venus built up the sleeves, replaced sheer netting to match Nicole's skin color and reinforced the corset. Venus worked her magic and my daughter was locked and loaded into that gown without sacrificing the style of the gown, or feel of the design. We needed a custom Watteau train with horsehair trim, and Venus constructed it using the extra lace we provided. When I brought my dress in, it was so long I couldn't walk in it, but she did an amazing dress hemming it and she also added cups in the halter, took in the top, and added a bustle for the train. Great service, reliable, timely, and friendly! Went to Venchy Couture for a bridesmaids dress. I was able to get a quote right through the yelp app - send a pic, material, and a few other details that it asks for - SO easy. I got a response back almost immediately with a quote and set up an appointment for a few days later for my fitting. The shop offers convenient times...I was able to go right after work (6:30/6:45) and the owner even calls to confirm the day of (very reliable!). There was no wait when I got there, she immediately had me put my dress on and started fitting for alterations. My dress was promised to me about 2 weeks later and she was extremely prompt (maybe even called me a few days earlier than expected) and had me come in to try on the dress and make some finishing touches on the spot so I could take my dress home that day. I wish I could give Venus at Venchy Couture more than 5 stars, she is beyond amazing and is the absolute best tailor in NYC for your dress alteration and bridal needs. She is highly skilled, she is fast, and she is so kind. I had a beautiful vintage (delicate) slip dress that I needed tailored for my friend's wedding and Venus was not only able to get it done in time for the wedding (very tight turnaround) but she also went above and beyond to help me. The slip dress came out fabulous. Exactly how I imagined it. I wore it for the rehearsal dinner. And then, her real skills came to be... I was planning to wear a different vintage dress, a sequin dress, for the night of the wedding. It was tight on me, I hadn't worn it since college, but I decided to go for it anyway... Upon arrival to the wedding venue, I stepped out of my car and the entire dress split up the back. It was completely open and I couldn't go into the wedding party in that state of undress... My date gave me his jacket to cover me up, and I called Venus for help. Even though she was in the middle of a family barbecue, she met me at her shop and sewed the dress back up while I was still wearing it. She used extra durable thread so it wouldn't split again, and also gave my date a tutorial on how to cut it off of me at the end of the night!!! It was the final hurrah for that gown and I couldn't have done it without Venus' help. I'm so grateful to Venus for her incredible kindness and amazing sewing skills.
