Today was my first time at Veneta Vet Hospital and I couldn't be happier. The best experience I've had with a vet since moving to the West Coast. The hospital is beautiful and clean; the prices were very affordable and much lower than vets in Florence. The staff was friendly, helpful and kind. Dr. Mercer is knowledgeable, professional, empathetic, accommodating and answered all my questions and concerns easily. My pup had a ruptured abscess that I was quite infected, needed cleaning and antibiotics. Dr. Mercer did a fantastic job. Very positive experience. I'd highly recommend this facility to others, and I don't recommend places often. Can't beat the best!

Princess, upset at me for making her model the custom made sweater & snood! Dr Srch-Thaden took such good care of her during her last dental

My experiences have been 95 percent positive. Friendly staff, with the exception of one DVM, I especially like & trust Dr Srch-Thaden!! I was so afraid for my senior doxie having to have a dental, and I was very particular about how it should be done, because she took 2 days to recover the last time she had a dental. She suggested having a Saline? drip to flush the anesthetic out more quickly. When I picked Princess up, she was so much more alert than the previous dental. I do not want to mention the rude DVM, as she is still employed at the Veneta clinic.

I chose Veneta Vet clinic/hospital based on referrals and their accepting new clients. My 5 month old puppy was just spayed. During pre-op consultation I was informed that my puppy had a heart murmur--this was not identified in August at her final vaccination appointment. I was given the alternative to defer spaying till after a full cardiac work up at Oregon University in Corvalis... OR go ahead with the surgery after a full blood panel, using cardiac safe anesthesia, and IV fluids. Weighting the pros/cons. I made a choice. This was at 9:45am. Surgery was scheduled for 10-ish. Information on progress was not confidence producing. Different front desk attendants gave conflicting reports...no matter what they told me they always ended with..."she's resting comfortably "...I know better...she does not do closed cage well. She will sleep in crate but needs door open. Finally around 3pm I was informed that she made it thru surgery and "is resting comfortably...." The next day, at discharge I wanted more info on cardiac referral, after another less then diffinitive discussion we left it at "...many puppies get heart murmurs but the grow out of them by 1 year..." So we went from dying at a year to growing out of it in a year... Again not very confidence building. High points for anyone looking at having Veneta Vet in Veneta Oregon: 1. If a heart murmur is noted by doctor...please take a breath and get a second Vet opinion... 2. They cut her high on the belly and did a poor job of suturing...looks like a jellyroll and her incision area is distended.. I'll have another Vet examine. 3. Cost went from $222. To $550. Plus another $126 for 6 Nexgard pills. All in all, in my deep desire to protect my puppy and her energy life force I made a bad judgment call on choice of Veneta Vet . The one star review is because they were not ethical in their discussion with me nor in their surgical procedure with my puppy. Be aware!!! There is another Spay/Neuter clinic in Eugene. Check them out.

Got a lovely symphony card with our boy's paw print. They were kind , empathetic and professional during a very rough time.

I don't buy flea treatments. she never has them. I get all information of healthy food. I do not have to brush my dogs teeth. they and gums are always good. she has no issues of constipation or runs. she never has dog breath, or smelly coat. i put all of this on her food. the staff here is wonderful also. it really is a great place.

Dr Terri Sue tried very hard to help our Basset who has numerous skin lumps. We'd tried Western medicine for years, which helped very little and she had great ideas about supporting our dog's health with raw food and supplements. Some of the treatments were a bit unconventional but I was willing to go for it and we had a lot of hope. Unfortunately, after six months, the treatment didn't help and she got worse. We decided to see a specialist at OVRA, who incidentally said she'd never seen a dog as bad as ours -- she had 22 lumps all over her body -- twice as many as when we'd started treatment with Balance. Unfortunately, when Dr Terri Sue found out that we were seeing a specialist (we told her), she said they would "poison" our dog and fired us as patients despite my attempt to use both modes of treatment to optimize Stella's chances for good health. That left a negative impression with me. I'm a health care provider and welcome second opinions and often send my patients to specialists. That she doesn't do the same unfortunately makes me think less of her as a professional and a doctor. I wish we could still see her because she has a passion to give animals the best care, but I feel she's very single minded in her approach to care.

Rachel and her staff have worked with so much care and dedication in the last three months to help us help Bandit with these issues. We still have a ways to go. Rachel has researched ways to help Bandit that are above and beyond our expectations, and she made time to communicate with our Veterinarian. Opportunity Barks has been so positive and supportive to us. The daycare and kennel facilities at Opportunity Barks are fantastic. He has been an only dog for 4 years now and while good with other dogs at the park, he wasn't social with them and preferred people. I decided to try doggie daycare. He wasn't thrilled at first, whining a lot and not social. The staff worked hard at trying to make it work for him and he got to where he was good for full days. They kept at it and found ways to redirect his anxiety and I was able to leave him for 5 days boarding while on a trip. He learned to play with others and settled in wonderfully. He used to hesitate when I left him, now he runs in excited and barking and doesn't look back! The facility is well organized, clean and comfortable, full of activities with ideal conditions for any dog. The staff is kind, caring, knowledgeable and proficient in dog training. Whether you're looking for quality, constructive play time for your dog, have a dog that needs socializing or training, I cannot recommend Opportunity Barks enough!

Every day I wake up without the love of my life, she was the most special husky wolf. She was my…read moreeverything.Because of the neglect and lack of care by this facility, and their untrained staff, she's dead. I was rescuing a foster puppy but hadn't been informed that she had been exposed to distemper, until after she arrived. I hurriedly got my 4 dogs into boarding even though they were vaccinated,I wanted to keep my wolf safe, since our last foster gave her kennel cough. The morning I was supposed to pick up my pack,I got a call as I was heading out the door. One of my dogs was dead, they wouldn't tell me who, even though they knew. I was in shock but tried to keep everything straight so when I finally had time to process it,I would have all the facts committed to memory in order. I arrived and saw the love of my life on a rolling cart. She was covered in blood. Her jugular had been severed and her intestines eaten out. After kissing her face and telling her I loved her more than anything,I wanted to see my other dogs. One of my dogs had many cuts on her so the staff thought she was guilty, but that dog is very submissive, afraid of everything, and she worshipped my wolf. The reason she had so many cuts was because the dog who killed my wolf went after her first. The best friend of the wolf had broken a tooth probably from trying to intervene. She also had bite marks on her face so the guilty dog had also gone after her. When I asked Cody what happened he said he had heard lots of barking around 4a,but it ended quickly. Upon asking him 2 other times, once he responded he only heard a scuffle no barking, and the last time he said no one heard anything. The first time I asked him about what happened that day,he said he fed them after I left but I said I was here until 2 and you said you fed them at 2 for their last meal.He said oh then I fed them at 1 because you were coming. Then he didn't check on them again until the next morning at 7a.1p to 7a is a long time to keep 4 big dogs together in a space that no more than 2 small dogs should share, especially when their own rules say no more than 2 dogs would be kept together at a time. The next time I asked what happened he said he fed them at 2p and they all wanted to be together in the same space. Well that's not true, because my wolf and her best friend were terrified to go into the barn.I don't even want to think about what they went through to make them that afraid to go into the barn, but my dogs were brave,so it must not have been good. The 3rd time I asked what happened that day Cody said,I followed your written directions.I said well that can't be right because my directions said to feed them 12 hours apart and you stop feeding them at 2p you said. Months afterwards he says that I had been feeding them when I visited, which I wouldn't do,because that's THEIR job.So that means they were being starved the whole time they were there. They were getting breakfast maybe, but then I would visit so they weren't being fed dinner, not at 2p,or7p like instructed in writing on their paperwork. So then, they didn't feed them, kept all 4 big dogs stuck together like sardines in a tiny little cell, that was hot, that they didn't let out for 17 hours!!!And then they tried to skirt their accountability by saying I was feeding them when I wasn't,which only proves Cody wasn't feeding them either. ALL of this could have been avoided if Cody had checked with me,hey your dogs are all together in the same cell, should I separate them, like they had supposedly been doing? And I would've said yes, separate them.Or if Cody had asked hey, when you visited, did you feed them?I would've said no,because that's your job.Just like it's your job to follow your own rules of not having more than 2 dogs together at a time. And now...I get to wake up screaming out of dreams periodically, though this happened 7 months ago,and I can't stop missing my dog who died so tragically, who was then vomited up by the dog who killed her,and that dog had to be euthanized because she could never be around other animals safely again.I have 2 dogs left who are traumatized, one of whom was blamed by the staff because they couldn't figure out that she was attacked first.Yet Cody still works there, the staff still defends him, when he's completely in the wrong, can't read dog behavior at all, didn't do his job, completely neglected feeding them or letting them out,for 17 hours!!!And I will never get my love back :( Now that they are being completely dismissive, and didn't even bother with an investigation,or holding Cody accountable for his negligence, now I can't stay quiet. I know I can't be the first to have my pets be treated badly,or neglected, and I'm terrified for anyone who brings their pets there. Please keep your animals safe and take them ANYWHERE else. I miss my wolf girl every day. She's never out of mind, nor is my guilt for taking her to the place where she would meet her death, due to their lack of care, neglect and dismissive behavior.

I was scheduled to pick my dog up on a Tuesday (dropped off Saturday AM), however I was going to be delayed and not going to be able to be back until Wednesday. I called the kennel to discuss at 3pm on Monday. I received no answer so left a message. There was no return call that night and I called again at 8 am Tuesday, no answer again. After leaving another message I called every hour that morning. Finally I asked my son to leave work to go get my dog as I was overwhelmed with worry. When he arrived to pick up my dog they were unable to locate all the items I had brought in and were generally disorganized. I can't say that my dog was mistreated but he was certainly stressed. While I was panicking about my dog Tuesday morning I unfortunately found a very sad review on Yelp about West Eugene Kennel. I would recommend finding kennel services elsewhere. Don't take the chance.
