My worst fear about living here came true…read more Sunday night, July 24, 2022. The central air conditioning quit blowing cold air. Yeah, that's my worst fear about living in the high desert in summer. I opened windows and put a couple big fans near my bed. Couldn't fall asleep. Got up, went to my home office downstairs and submitted a service request to Doug Anderson Property Management, the people who handle this house for the owner. Got a lot of work done. At 9 a.m. Monday, July 25th, when the property management office opened, I called to make sure they would immediately contact their A/C repair vendor, which turned out to be Working Class Heating & Air, of Lancaster. I called, spoke with Stephanie, and she said they're booked solid for that day but she'd try to squeeze me in for a technician's visit. Later, I got a text which said to expect a visit between noon and 4 p.m. In my first-floor office, I had the fans aimed at me as the house neared a temperature that could bake pizza. I guzzled cold water. And then I saw an SUV show up. The technician, Matthew Grubb, emerged and I led him to the back yard unit. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a failed fan motor. He told me he could install a new one on Wednesday, provided Doug Anderson's people issued the work order. That meant two nights in a hotel. Stephanie texted: "I've submitted an estimate to Doug Anderson Property Management. If they approve, we will be there Weds." "If they want the rent money, they'd better approve!" was my reply. I was in a foul mood. I booked the local Best Western. I packed up for my hotel stay. I'd work from the hotel. At the front desk, I handed the lady my registration info. "I'm local," I said. "My wife kicked me out of the house, so I'm staying two nights with you," Her eyes popped up to meet mine. "I'm kidding. My A/C broke." (I'm single). I hauled everything to room 317...where it turned out the room A/C was unresponsive to the thermostat's cool/off/heat control. It ran cold all the time. I froze. How's that for irony? By the time I crashed, I'd been up for 36 hours. Tuesday morning, July 26th, I visited the property management office to make sure they authorized the repair. They did. Stephanie said the approval came through and they would be on site between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thank god for small bureaucratic miracles. Tuesday night, I had some success with sleeping in arctic temperatures. Matthew rolled into my driveway early, at 10:30 Wednesday morning, July 27th. He swapped out the fan motor, tested the coolant level, and hooked up a pressurized gas container to top it off. His work was flawless. Stephanie exhibited perfect customer service. Attentive and helpful. It doesn't get any better than this. Thank you, Working Class HVAC. Matthew left to take care of other desperate customers. And finally, I sit here in 72-degree bliss. And Doug Anderson will get their rent check.

I get that you have to charge for your time, and that can variy, BUT, when you are being scammed for parts that have zero issues or relation to the unit, and its not even preventative...NO WAY.. Even in the conversation you can tell how scamy this place is...evading questions. Straight up greed infested business. I am CERTAIN you will be pleased or in major fear of not having water and open your wallet to such businesses, and they will smile and make your emotions calm and you will be at ease...but that is all you paid for. These are parasites. Then he claimed the part isn't available, and he pushed to swap out the unit. A little web search and the parts magically were available (Not even needed!). Crazy part was that the issue was simple enough that I fixed it myself with a couple O-rings. Oh, he also damaged a valve getting it out(luckily not bad enough to replace (what a tool). These guys will damage things on the idea of "emergency" and you will need more parts. They come and seam professional, and they explain things vaguely in case you know what they are talking about....It really bothers me that we have such parasites! They should just run for office. These techs should stop working for such companies. They learn horrible ways to cheap and lie. Have human blood run through you, and do work independently, you can market yourself, you need that, on social, etc. The reason they can pay you 40-75$ an hour is because they are cheating people. Do honest work, do preventative measure options to see if client is in position to pay for it, and build from there. Not scum pond businesses. This was my experience and my take away from a variety of service providers. They West Coast Water Heaters falls into this category. We called another company and then wouldn't be able to come out for another 5 days. We were recommended by a friend to call Joe and his company and man they were great! Joe and his son immediately knew what the problem was and got here and fixed it in less than 45 min. They were very informative with everything. Third, Jordan and Joe were nothing less than fantastic. They took pictures of my attic during and upon completion of their work. They walked my wife and I through everything from beginning to end! And last but not least, they were very very good about cleaning up after themselves. I'm sure everyone reading this understands what I'm talking about. But the outages continued. Jamison has been our go-to electrician, but we were unable to get them out over this past year because they were booked weeks in advance. However, this week they were available. They didn't just send one guy out. They sent a crew. They were here for hours on day one, trying to find what had been causing the illusive glitch. They tweaked some areas vulnerable to water, and fixed a compromised switch, but admitted that they'd found no decisive "smoking gun." But they didn't give up. Day two they were back at it. Time for surgery on our courtyard floor. After hours of digging, probing, thinking, and moving things around, there came, through the wind and the cold, this jubilant and authoritative declaration: "We found it! Here's your problem right here!" And there it was... an underground conduit that had been lanced in two; shriveled from arcing and who knows what. I haven't even mentioned the attitude, friendliness, and approachability of each of these workers. You can tell when people really care. And the price was HALF of that which had been quoted by another vendor. If you have an electrical issue, be of good cheer. Hope is only a personable phone call away. Just call as soon as you can.

After checking on my heater, Avetis discovered that, of all things, there was some packing material lodged inside the shower head fixture, apparently left there by the handyman who installed it. This had an effect on the volume of water allowed through the shower head and triggered the water tank to turn off the hot water. He cleaned it out, and now it's working fine. Avetis was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and left the work area clean and tidy. When I noticed that the shower head alignment needed to be fixed (purely aesthetic), Avetis came back to adjust it and didn't charge me for the visit. I will call him again for my plumbing needs.

He was very personable and went right to work, The problem was identified quickly and we have air conditioning again - in fact it hasn't worked this well in years (old system).
