I came in for a manicure and a pedicure. Reviews were okay and we were a few blocks away so we stopped in. No massage chairs and the chairs were old. The tech massaged my feet for about 2 mins. She basically put lotion on. No paraffin. Before we walked in we asked the price for a manicure/pedicure, the owner said $30. As I checked out the price was $36. He acted as if he didn't raise the price from the moment I entered. The places down the street were $30. My other concern was cleanliness. I saw her wash out the foot basin. I didn't see any disinfectant. The place wasn't dirty but it wasn't clean either. The two good things about this place: friendly owner and staff who took pride in their work. I've been going to Venus B Nails, formerly Romy Nails for years, and after trying other places in Park Slope I always keep coming back...They do an excellent job, and have been in business in Park Slope for a very long time. After having my nails done down the block at Origin nails which is a fairly new spot, ( and they did a terrible job of my wrapped nails, looked like they just threw a bunch of glue on the nails and were lumpy looking), Gallo took over my nails and corrected the terrible job that was done from down the street.. Thanks...Staff is very friendly, prices are good, and the place is pretty clean..They also have a large assortment of colors to choose from..My Daughter also had her nails done and they look terrific as well..Would definitely recommend this place! read more

I'm never the type to write reviews, but I felt after coming to this place it definitely deserved a GREAT one! First of all, I walked in casually and I felt genuinely welcomed to walk in by the gentleman behind the register & the manicurist who did an excellent job for my pedicure & gel manicure. They treated me with genuine kindness and not like I was just another customer. I get this vibe all the time, especially with other Park Slope salons. I was also reassured that the equipment was properly sterilized in conversation (I didn't even have to ask). Seeing how a lot of salons looks great inside, it doesn't necessarily mean the tools are sanitized and Venus B Nails went above and beyond my expectations for their services & clean equipment. I will definitely be coming back as a regular. The lady who took care of me was Mary. I loved her! Also, I was given awesome advice about the neon yellow I had on when I walked in. I was told that for the neon yellow to stand out more it should've been on top of a white base. I didn't realize this and it's so true. I got the neon pedicure/manicure on Nails on Fifth & they didn't tell me this or suggested it. All this time I was left wondering why my nails didn't look quite right. Now that I know better thanks to Venus B Nails and I will be coming back to them for the perfect Neon yellow polish. This is the level of customer service that really captured me as a new customer and the reason why I will be coming back aside from the beautiful mani/pedi :) Don't let all the other negative reviews affect giving Venus B a chance. These people are clearly bitter & cheap by the context of their complaints. They do quality work! read more

I went to this establishment 12 days ago..yes 12 days and at first the job was great. I have to say I am thoroughly DISAPPOINTED. I had to go back last Saturday (1 week after ) as one nail fell off and 2 others were coming off. They redid it for free now 2 others are coming off as I had a conference to attend yesterday I went to a local nail salon and used their glue temporarily. I will be going back to get them removed. So me and the lady were on the way to another place when we walked by this one. It was brand new and empty, and we were on the way to AC later tonight, so we figured let's do some gambling early. We got the regular mani/pedi and it was surprising good for the price. The staff speaks English here so there was no misunderstanding when they went for the upsell. For those who are into nail polish, they have what seems to be 500 bottles of different brands and colors. Overall I would definitely come back here. To find a place this good for this price in Park Slope of all places is just too good to not tell others about. P. S. It's across the street from a Pokestop and I just put a lure on it. read more

I have been going to his place for years until 2 weeks ago. I went there for a mani n pedi. After , i left there i realized that i didn't have my Fitbit. I called them on the phone and asked if they found a purple Fitbit. I clearly heard the wife say: " yes." When the husband came back on the phone, he said that i didn't have ur Fitbit. Had it not been for the fact that i had to go to the airport, i would have called the POLICE. Not nice at all. read more

They lost a loyal customer. I love my nail tech but the owners wife was very nasty. I go every 2 weeks and get a gel manicure and started getting the powder SNS non gel coloring. Everything was fine until the last time I went to get my nails done the next day I had to come in to get my nails fixed because the paint got mushy. Then I call 3 days later because the paint was literally just coming off my nails. I paid $40 plus $5 tips for me to be going through this. So my nail tech was fixing my nail and explained that it was the drying gel that was too thick when she put it on my nail. The owners wife wanted me to do a gel manicure as a replacement from the powder but gel costs less from what I paid so I wanted my nails to be replaced with the same product. She had the mordacity to say she has to charge me $20 more when I just had the nails done 3 days ago. Plus she gave me an attitude saying that I had to call her. I called the nail salon spoke to her husband and my nail tech. With that being said I don't like people that are money hungry, don't know how to be professional and have cheap quality products. They lost a customer and I hope others go to other nail salons. read more

I haven't posed a review in years, but I love this place so much that I feel compelled to write one. I've been getting manicures and pedicures at Venus B. (formerlly Romy's) for over 10 years, and throughout that time the facility has always been clean, bright, open and welcoming. I've see young kids, women, men, and the elderly treated with equal respect and caring. The staff is professional, courteous, warm, and detail-oriented. In short, you feel taken care of when you're there. This place is family-owmed and family-run, and for those of us trying to support the "little guy" in the neighborhood, this is your nail salon. read more
