Whenever I'm in Valpo, I drive all the way across town to come here to get a mani or pedi. I stopped in at a different nail salon across the street first, but there was a wait and I was in a big rush. I was driving around aimlessly and then saw this place. It is probably the nicest nail salon I've ever been in and it's huge! They have the big, leather massage pedicure chairs, a waiting area and a separate section in the back for drying your nails. Also, they have two or three flat-screen tv's to watch. The guy, who I assume is the owner, is very nice. At my first visit, I told him I was in a big hurry. One girl started my manicure, but after the owner finished up with his client, he personally came over and finished my nails since he knew I needed to get out of there soon. It was the quickest manicure I've ever had, but also one of the best. It was very neatly done. i believe they offer additional services besides mani/pedis, but I have yet to partake in one. The staff is friendly without being overbearing. I hate salons where, even after being given the hint to leave me alone and just be quiet, they continue to try to chat me up. It's not going to make your tip any bigger. As if! read more

I took my daughter to Venus Nails for a relaxing afternoon, but it was a total disappointment. We spent $300 and 2.5 hours there for results that were well below average. The manicure was an absolute disaster. The technician was clearly inexperienced and struggled with a basic classic service, redoing the nails four times while aggressively pushing for acrylics we didn't want. To top it off, her long hair wasn't pulled back and literally dragged through my daughter's wet polish, ruining the finish. After nearly three hours, we were too exhausted to ask for a fifth fix and just wanted to leave. Even after speaking with the owner, Justin, about our experience, there was no offer of compensation or even a discount for the ruined service. While we didn't ask for one, you would expect a business owner to want to make things right after such a blatant lack of professionalism and skill. Between the poor quality and the lack of customer care, I cannot recommend this salon. Save your money and your time. read more

if you don't mind being ridiculously up charged, you can get a mediocre set of nails. I've been in a few times for acrylic fills and pedicures. they have a nice color selection, my main reason for going back. but after being charged $70 for a basic fill and a typical gel polish, I will not return. I had almond shaped nails to start. I asked to tapper the tips (no cut down) to look more like a stiletto shape. Not far off, right? Honestly didn't take him any longer to "re-shape" my nails - which is why i was told I was further charged. Then asking for chrome I was told it would be an additional $15. Nope. Also a few more things to note, each experience I had there, my fingers/cuticles were aggressively filed and cut, leaving me to bleed more than once. Oh and the "vibe".... Pretentious and mildly rude.. although the young woman that is sometimes at the front has always been pleasant and helpful. Pedicurists also are nice and do a good job in my experience. read more

Wow! What a disappointment that cost me $130! This salon appears to be run by children fresh out of school. They don't have the products they advertise, but they offered invented work around options for the same service. If you want gel polished nails, they can take care of that. Do you want your nails properly cared for, filed and clipped so they look and feel good, not a chance. Want cuticle oil, not here. Would you like lotion with your manicure? It's over there. My feet were not massaged nor my hands. The manicurist asked ME if my French tips looked even and when I told her she was the pro she replied, as long as you're happy with it. Unfortunately I will need to go somewhere else within a week to correct the poor cut and file of both my toe and fingernails. Looking for a nice place to get your nails done, don't come here. I was charged 65 dollars for a fill on my nails which was more than my friend who got a full set which does not make sense. To add chrome was an additional 15 dollars which is also an insanely high price for something that takes one minute to do. The workers were also not friendly at all. Will not be returning here. They charged me 100 dollars for french tips with glitter. I asked if I could just get regular french tips without the glitter when I heard the price and the nail tech said it would still be 100 dollars either way. So then I asked if I could get chrome instead of glitter and he said that would be an extra 15 even though the glitter was no extra cost? My friend who came with me got the exact same nails and added a design with pink dots on top of her french tips and she was only charged 90 dollars. I asked why this was and the nail tech said it was because my nails were long and almond shaped and if I had just gotten short and squared shaped they would not be that price. The tech was also very rude huffing and rolling his eyes whenever I asked him to change something about my nails because the white tips were much thinner than what I showed him I wanted in the reference picture. Then he eventually just started saying no and refusing to make the tip thicker because he didn't like that style of nail. I came in to get my nails done and to get a fill. my nails are terrible and now the price magically changes if you get your mail done close to the time of closing hours. Apparently now the prices changed by shape even though two weeks ago I came in and got a fill for $37 with the same shaped requested today, I will not be returning. To pay $51 and this is how my nails turned out completely ridiculous. I use to love coming to this place. I've been going here for two years now but it seems like it's going downhill. I got acrylics last month and did not have a good experience. I was knicked by the nail dremel and the nail tech did not notice, they asked me to relax my hand instead. The process was not relaxing, but stressful because my nails were dealt with roughly. Also, the powder on my nails had to be redone a few times. Was told a 15 minute wait, turned into an hour wait. Finally got to sit down with the guy in the 2nd chair and told him that last time i was there the girl used a white powder acrylic for my nails and he seemed annoyed by it. Continued to take forever on my nails, was sitting with him for an hour and he only just finished putting the acrylic on. Used the drill on my cuticles which was painful and looked like shit (see picture). Then proceeded to tell me my nails were going to be the same price as my friends, she got a full set with swirl designs, I was getting a fill with the same designs? Wouldn't let me get the colors I chose so I said nevermind just give me plain white nails because I was ready to leave at this point, which I could tell made him mad. I went to the salon and no one was in there. The woman doing my nails spoke very little English, which was totally fine, but incredibly difficult to communicate what I wanted, even with photos. I asked her to shorten and round my nails, as I was getting dip off that was on for about a month and wanted a new color and shape. She started yelling to the boy working the front desk, apparently very displeased that this was what I wanted, and then proceeded to do a horrible, uneven job. I kept checking my nails and asking to fix some, because I'm paying for this, but she continued to be rude. She even made me bleed. My wife went to Venus Spa Nails @ the Cumberland Crossing facility. As she sits here beside me soaking her fingers in hydrogen peroxide, the employee (possible owner) hurt her doing her cuticles and caused infections in 3 of her fingers. Undoubtedly the worst manicure ever. The technician Amy, was slow and seemed unsure of what she was doing. I had to point out the faults in my manicure 3 times. In addition the polish was thick and she flopped it on. I asked for a fresh bottle to be used instead of thinning the existing one repeatedly. I was told to pick another color instead. I finally just told her to put clear on and let it go at that. When she put me at the drying station she turned on the area to dry pedicures and I had to ask her to come back and do it right. I spent the better part of the evening with emery board in hand trying to smooth the rough parts she left on my nails. All this and no hand cream at all. Stay away from this place! read more

I would NEVER recommend this place. I was overcharged for services that I did not receive! $80 for a $25 pedicure and horrible gel nail polish "manicure", that I was dissatisfied with. No acrilic, no tips, just gel nail polish over my own nails. I showed her a picture of what I wanted. The technician couldn't paint the french tips properly. When I explained that the white wasn't even covering my nail tips, she didn't understand what I wanted. She said next time I should explain better! I BROUGHT A PICTURE!!! The sides and edges of the gel nail polish started chipping away from my nails the next day. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Skip this place and go over to star nails across the street. Went in because my usual was closed and asked for powder ombré on my naturally long nails. She immediately clipped them short as hell and went to put fake tips on. NO. Then proceeds to tell me she can't do ombré on short nails. THEY WERE LONG UNTIL YOU CUT THEM ALL OFF. I had a pedicure and within two hours had a boil on the side of my foot (that the pedicurist scrubbed with a dirty/worn pumice stone, and used with a razor.) I went to Urgent Care and was diagnosed with a Bacterial Staph Infection and went on 10-days of antibiotics. I immediately took my medical papers and prescription receipt in to Venus, and showed the technician my foot. I was told someone would contact me. I waited two weeks with no response. I then sent a letter asking for the owner to change his salon practices, and reimburse me for the medical bills that were clearly the result of unsanitary procedures used at Venus. A month later, and I have yet to hear back. This place is dirty, the owner is careless and a simple pedicure turned in to $200+ of medical bills and antibiotics. For your health, avoid this salon. read more

First off, I would like to say that the nail tech 's sally and Jane (employees)who serviced my daughters and I, were super sweet. What I did not like was the b.s. musical chair game they played with us. Myself, 2 daughters and my granddaughter(4 years old) went to the salon on December 20th at 11:30 a.m. for mani and pedicures didn't leave until 3:00. On arrival we asked how long the wait, they insisted 15 minutes max. Put my daughter and in a chair but didn't get to her for 15 minutes. Then put myself and other daughter in chairs to soak our feet waited about 10 minutes before pedis began. Turns out their were only 4 people working the floor rotating the employees as needed. I got a regular manicure, not gels, and by Friday (the next day) my nail polish peeled off, completely gone by Saturday. I was hosting a Christmas party so I had no time to go back and complain, but I decided I'd rather write a review and not go back. My granddaughters nails also peeled off. Justin, the owner, put my granddaughter in one of the kids chairs and did a quick -quick file painted her nails and left nails rough and ragged. They didn't even soak her feet, just polished toes. I think they use both a cheap base and top coat , bc I have gone to cosmo nails to get just a regular manicure before and it looks nice for at least a full week and does not peel off, but it will start to chip after about 7 days. Also, the prices are expensive, a lame hand massage and barely a foot rub. I still can't believe how ridiculously long it took. 3 People came in after us, probably waited about a little over an hour and finally left. One gal waited for 21/2 hours- I thought to myself- "get out while you still can" but she stuck it out. We won't be back. read more

I still tipped the tech well of off pure principle but I was extremely disappointed at the quality of work. Justin is very rude and rushes everything. i had a full set and pedicure. he hurt me several times then when i mentioned something he said " well i didn't draw blood so i didn't hurt you". when he applied the color acrylic there were some spots that he missed and it just looked very sloppy. when it came time to my pedicure he barely filed my nail and applied the white nail polish on my skin and left some of the scrub on the nails polish. i told him i was unsatisfied with what he did he became very upset and would not let me leave unless he cut my nails off. oh and they charge extra for the length of your nails ($10)?? i have never heard of a place who charges for the length. all in all do not come here to waste your money. read more

Unbelievably bad pedicure. Paid for the VIP which is great until you get to the pedicure part. Technician cut my toenails in a round shape, was unable to to polish within the lines, the final result was a bubbly and streaky finish. Paid and walked out never to return again. read more

No response. I picked my polish then noticed a check in keypad and started to enter my info including the service I wanted. The pedi was fine and what I would've expected except for the hot wax in a bag placed on my feet. I got up to pay at the front desk. Again young girl stared at her phone.
