I can't say enough about John. One of my wife's co-workers referred us to John after John planned his trip to Italy. We had already planned 2 cruises for Italy and Greece. John worked on our airfare, hotels in Athens and Rome as well as tours in Athens and Rome and Italy transportation. The hotels in Athens were both fairly small "boutique" hotels. The pre-cruise hotel had stunning water views from our room and the 3rd floor restaurant. The tween cruises hotel in Athens had a rooftop restaurant that overlooked the Acropolis. The staff at both hotels were incredibly accommodating for all our needs. Heading to Rome for 4 nights pre-cruise John set us up with private transportation to the hotel and to the cruise port. Perfect. The Mascagni - wow - it didn't hurt that the hotel upgraded our room. Again. Wow. Such wonderful staff. As an aside - John confirmed each and every hotel, tour, car and flight with the companies the day before we got there. And that ends all of John's plans for us....or it should have. The last 2 nights after the Italy cruise we relied on my brother-in-law to book an Air B & B for the 6 of us. BTW - welcome to Venice - the city with no cars and the canal bridges all have stairs. So they booked a 3 story walkup. So...who comes through and finds us a porter and private water taxi for our 9am flight by talking to the Air B & B owner (in Italian) and making the arrangements that saved our butts? We booked our first trip to Italy with John . This guy is amazing. He was with us every step of the way. While we were traveling he checked to make sure that our transfers were there to pick us up at our destinations, always letting us know via text no matter what time of the day it was (even when it was in the middle of the night for him). John Conenna helped us plan a trip to Amalfi, Florence & Rome along with my out-of-state sister and brother-in-law. He arranged air fare, transfers from and to the airport, train tickets and excursions. He checked in via text the night before each train trip, each excursion and even our last transfer to the airport. The pouch he gives you to take with you on your trip has your itinerary details organized and it made everything so seamless. He advised on hotels, tours and how to spread them out for the duration. Our first flight was canceled weeks before our trip but not my sister's flight. Rescheduling for the date we wanted and to keep plans with my sister required changing the order of our plans. John at Venus Travel helped plan a vacation for our family of four to Italy. We won't be using his services again. During our planning meeting, John spent more time on the phone with other customers than listening to our requests. As a result, instead of ending up in a family suite in Rome, my wife and I spent the first two nights of our trip sleeping on a small and uncomfortable pull out couch while our teenage son and daughter shared a queen size bed in our exceedingly small room. Upon returning to our hotel the second night, we were greeted with a message from the company he booked for our tour of the Colosseum the following morning notifying us that our visit had been canceled. Since we were scheduled to catch a train the next afternoon, we were unable to reschedule. We also asked that John book a private driver for a trip along the Amalfi coast. Imagine our surprise when instead of a car, a tour bus filled with 25 other passengers pulled up in front of our hotel. So much for our stated desire to be able to ask the driver to stop so we could take in a vista or pick out an interesting restaurant for lunch. We contacted John with the issues we confronted and, to his credit, he attempted to make things right. I will also acknowledge that the transfers and Vatican and Capri tours he booked for us were everything we expected. That said, for what we paid for the trip, I am confident we could have done as well ourselves at a fraction of the cost. read more

My fiancé and I thought we had found a deal online for airline tickets for our vacation to Italy (despite a 22-hour layover). With 10 minutes of giving John this information, he got on the phone and saved us over $500.00 on our tickets, got us better seats AND a 1-hour layover. He also arranged a transportation service to pick us up and drop us off from and to the airport. I was looking online for tickets to Italy and a friend of mine told me about Venus. My parents have gone there many years ago and I completely forgot. I called John with in a few minutes we had tickets to Italy. I can't say enough good things about John . His price was cheaper then online plus traveling with children he made sure we had connecting flights no waiting 16hrs or layovers and to my surprise I thought that I had to pay extra for seating or when you go to the airport and hope for the best that we sit together on the plane . Instead that was all taken care of . Plus he offered to come over and drop the flight information to my house. I will never book anything online going forward. The only other review on here was written by the owner. I've worked with Venus for 2 trips. The first trip was great; we went to Europe and John put together everything beautifully, and there was no hassle on our end. Our hotels were fairly cheap considering their location (we were always in the main part of the cities). It was overall a great experience. The second time we worked with Venus was a much different story. John was very unresponsive to phone calls and emails. He told me multiple times that he was going to call me or email me with packages, but I never heard back from him. I had to go to a different agent because John wasted so much of my time. read more

John was the best travel agent I have ever dealt with. My family and I travel all the time and he suggested the perfect place for all of us to go. He took care of all of the accommodations including the flight, transportation to and from the airport, and the all inclusive hotel. We all received suites (including rooms with our own personal swim up pools) and my room was upgraded to an even bigger suite when they didn't have enough of those rooms available. The morning of the flight he called us at 5am to ensure we were at the airport safely and checked in to make sure we didn't have any problems. I have never encountered a more thorough travel agent, who truly cared about our experience. It is very difficult to plan a trip for 9 people and he made it look so easy.
