He was able to thoroughly advise us on how to rectify the soffit/attic issue. He was able to remediate a few areas of mold we had on drywall due to not dehumidifying our home and a lack of insulation in two small areas of our attic - too much soffit in two areas of our home. He cleanly cut out the bad drywall and did not cut through the vapor sheeting, underneath. I was pleased that he only cut through what was necessary with surgical skill. Only the drywall was affected in 4 of the small areas. Two areas - around a skylight and one ceiling area did affect a few boards in the attic. They cleaned the boards with a green, botanical product and then encapsulated the affected boards. No fans were used anywhere so mold was contained to affected areas and once drywall was removed, it was immediately bagged and removed from the home. Skylight ceiling was HEPA vacuumed and a HEPA air filtration machine was used in all of the areas while the work was meticulously completed. The bathroom ceiling was cleaned and then painted with a mold resistant coating. Josh thoroughly explained how long the bathroom needed to dry and that no humidity could be created in the bathroom until it was completely dried. He explained that it needed to dry naturally, without a dehumidifier, otherwise the paint might crack. Josh thoroughly explained everything he would do and everything he was using (cleaners, machines, etc.) prior to starting the work. He was an excellent, educated and experienced remediator/communicator. Carol, in the office, was able to calm me down and reassure me when I first called to schedule the job. Another company could not handle my upsettedness about our mold problem and hung up on me. She was able to email me receipts after charges were completed. Her follow-up throughout the process was great despite my changing the work order a few times throughout the process. Her calm, positive, uplifting demeanor was just what I needed during this time. I do not hesitate to recommend Indoor Air Repair to anyone with mold issues, except for the fact that it might be harder for me to get scheduled with them if all of you use them, too!

Unfortunately, I do not recommend Optima. I was awarded a grant and Optima was the contractor with…read morethe winning bid. So, for full transparency, I did not pay for it, BUT they were paid for the job. Here are my thoughts; I feel that they underbid or bid the lowest they could to win the contract. When they began to do the work the realization that they underbid hit them. Many corners were cut and many projects are visibly unfinished. 1. They replaced carpeting with laminate flooring, so the trim had to be replaced. Though the proposal indicated new trim; they reused the existing trim. Fine, no big deal. But they did not seal where the trim met the baseboard in many many areas. They also did not bring the frames around the doors down. So now where the frames are there are visible gaps where they shouldn't be. 2. The same thing with some in the kitchen; however replace tile with laminate flooring. So the difference between the thickness of the tile and the laminate floor is greater so that created other issues. They had to lower the baseboards down. Again they reuse the same baseboards, fine, however they don't seal seam and the difference in the paint color from where they lowered the baseboards down was left with the previous paint color which was a different from the current paint color. I complained and was told I was told we don't paint; it's not part of the scope of work ... Painting a room as a cosmetic option is not allowed; however, painting to make whole work that you completed to present your client with a finished job ... No brainer. I finally "convinced" them to paint, and they didn't prep at all so the paint line is very noticeable. Because I repeatedly asked them about it, they painted some of it. 3. Again, with the painting, they moved the handrails on my stairs. This required them to draw marks all over the wall which they left unpainted along with the patching of the pre-existing holes. Not to mention they taped up plastic to limit the dust (gold star for that) but when they took the tape off, it pulled some of the paint off. Couldn't paint that either... 4. The biggest let down was the kitchen floor, and this is what prompted me to leave this review because I wasn't going to leave one. During the walkthrough, we talked about how the kitchen floor was not level. They talked about having to level it out to make sure the floor was as it should be. This was even BEFORE they bid, so they were very much aware. They leveled some of the floor, however during Christmas when my refrigerator almost fell over, I found out that they did not finish the floor underneath the refrigerator. So they took it back a little bit but not all the way. I guess they assumed that I didn't clean behind my fridge? So now my refrigerator is sitting on a wooden block. This was their solution after I PREVIOUSLY called them back before because my refrigerator was sinking into the piece of tile that they added over an unlevel floor. The contractor said that he'd come back and "take a look at it" but I haven't heard anything. I really just feel like they were over the job, ended spending more money then they intended which cut into their profits and was just trying to get done. I also feel like they used some of the least expensive products. Very unfortunate that this program was supposed to help me. While I'm thankful for the opportunity, it left me feeling a bit deflated.
