Josh did a thorough investigation of our attic and uncovered an issue which a roofer missed when they provided us with a quote. Thank goodness we did not go with that roofer. He was able to thoroughly advise us on how to rectify the soffit/attic issue. He was able to remediate a few areas of mold we had on drywall due to not dehumidifying our home and a lack of insulation in two small areas of our attic - too much soffit in two areas of our home. He cleanly cut out the bad drywall and did not cut through the vapor sheeting, underneath. I was pleased that he only cut through what was necessary with surgical skill. Only the drywall was affected in 4 of the small areas. Two areas - around a skylight and one ceiling area did affect a few boards in the attic. They cleaned the boards with a green, botanical product and then encapsulated the affected boards. No fans were used anywhere so mold was contained to affected areas and once drywall was removed, it was immediately bagged and removed from the home. Skylight ceiling was HEPA vacuumed and a HEPA air filtration machine was used in all of the areas while the work was meticulously completed. The bathroom ceiling was cleaned and then painted with a mold resistant coating. Josh thoroughly explained how long the bathroom needed to dry and that no humidity could be created in the bathroom until it was completely dried. He explained that it needed to dry naturally, without a dehumidifier, otherwise the paint might crack. Josh thoroughly explained everything he would do and everything he was using (cleaners, machines, etc.) prior to starting the work. He was an excellent, educated and experienced remediator/communicator. Carol, in the office, was able to calm me down and reassure me when I first called to schedule the job. Another company could not handle my upsettedness about our mold problem and hung up on me. She was able to email me receipts after charges were completed. Her follow-up throughout the process was great despite my changing the work order a few times throughout the process. Her calm, positive, uplifting demeanor was just what I needed during this time. I reached out to Indoor Air Repair to look into some potential mold in my attic. I talked with Carol who was super friendly before the Thanksgiving Break and scheduled some time for Monday December 2 with a $75 fee for the estimate. However, the person didn't show up for the appointment and no one notified me. After calling Carol, she apologized that the inspector had to deal with some emergency which why he didn't show up. We rescheduled for Friday December 6 and this time the person came. The person took pictures of the mold and told me that he would be sending the pictures, an estimate for the removal, and some recommendations for some additional attic venting. I have heard back till today. I called them and they promised me to get me the information. I sent them a follow up email but still no response. I will look for someone else now. Thankfully, it was a small job due to a leak in the HVAC duct sealing tape. I had a quote in hand the next day, set up an appointment for remediation, and all done within a week. We needed some mold abatement done in a hurry and Indoor Air Repair came to the rescue. The project manager, Sean, came out first thing the day after I called and did a thorough inspection. He explained the job to us and told us they could manage the project: mold abatement, hooking up bathroom vents, and cleaning up mold on the outside gutters completely. We would not have to find other contractors to do any of these steps to complete the job. Carol, the owner, gave us a quote, itemizing step by step what would be done to complete the job. There were three projects in this job, itemized separately, and we opted for them to do all three. They were able to schedule us within days. Sean and Nick came to do the work on-time, took care to protect the surrounding area, and on a VERY hot day, donned their protective suits and worked diligently to finish the job. Part of their process was to leave a HEPA filter running in the attic for 48 hours to ensure that anything that had been stirred up in the process was captured and could not contaminate our home. Worst experience ever with a company. NOT RECOMMENDED!!! They did a poor job. The most important part of the job according to the owner, is the vacuuming. There were two guys at my house. Person who also estimated the job was the main person doing the work. They used the vacuum in 1 spot about 5 SQ Inches (See Flickr photos), when they were suppose to vacuum the entire north side of my attic which was infected with mold. After I found out that they did not vacuum, I took pictures and emailed the owner. She even agreed with me that the workers pictures did not look good when she saw them. She said my photos are a lot closer up then his. I said well I have a better camera and you can see better detail in my photos. Owner continued to argue with me that the workers did in fact vacuum. I said that it is impossible that he vacuumed because I had blown insulation on the surface that had the mold, and it was all still there. Then she went on that I didn't disclose that I sprayed it once before with Concrobium and that is why they could not vacuum well. But in fact when they were doing my quote I mentioned that I sprayed something from Home Depot and it obviously didn't kill the mold. So then I went up in my attic with my cheap shop-vac to prove to the owner, that it could be vacuumed and took before and after photos of 3 sections that I vacuumed, I had NO PROBLEMS. They still could not agree with me. Even with photos. See my photos on FLICKR and you be the judge. You will see in one photo there are cob-webs! If they vacuumed there would not be any cob-webs. I said the guys were at my house 2 hours 10 minutes. She told me at the beginning that the job would take around 4 hours. I said if they vacuumed they would have been here longer. She argued that they were at my house longer then what I stated. She basically called me a liar. Too bad I had proof of the time they got to my house and the time they left, via my Cell phone call records. Because they called my cell phone about 10min before they got to my house, then I called them about 10min after they left, because one of the guys left his coat at my house. She kept going on defensive tactics, saying that she has been in business for 10 years without a complaint, I responded, well you have your first complaint now. Then she went on that she didn't think I would be happy if they came back and vacuumed. I said I will be happy if they vacuum as stated in my signed work contract proposal. One Saturday they "attempted" to come to my house to vacuum, then said they got to my house and I wasn't home. Which in fact I was home. I said if they thought I wasn't home, then why didn't they call me on my cell phone. They called me when they said they were running about 20minutes late. Total joke of a company. FINALLY after a little over 2 months of arguing back and fourth with them, they finally sent another person. Very good guy and did the job correctly! It took him a little over 3.5 hours to do the vacuuming. So it is impossible for the first crew to finish the entire job in a little over 2 hours. Yes they only had 1 vacuum. Also the first crew had a lot more setup time and cleanup time. Also 30min of wait time for chemicals to soak into the wood. Then after the soak they had to spray again with the sealer. IMPOSSIBLE for them to have vacuumed. Owner has a lot of trust in one of her workers, instead of listening to her CLIENTS!!! Pictures never lie. They thought through the problem source well, uncovered areas where I hadn't thought of checking for mold, and thoroughly treated for mold. Based on proposals from other mold remediation companies, Indoor Air Quality surpassed their magnitude of mold treatment. Indoor Air Quality offered e multiple steps of treatment to manage my unique mold situation. Now weeks and many rain events later, I am satisfied as I see no evidence of mold. I called this company at 5pm on a Tuesday night and asked them to send someone out to give me an estimate on some water damage from an attic furnace. They had someone there within an hour, assessed the situation and gave us an estimate. I also requested that they use green products which they agreed to do. I made a decision later that evening and called Carol - she had three workmen there at 10 am the next morning. The whole job took two days - the men were very clean and prepped my house very thoroughly so there would be no damage from them carrying drywall from my attic. While removing the floor in the attic, a small piece of drywall was damaged on the upstairs ceiling. I called Carol and she immediately agreed to send someone out to care of the situation - repair and repaint the ceiling. She did not try to argue, just said "don't worry, we will take care of it". I was very happy with this company - I have used similar companies in the past and this was my best experience. I can't say enough good things about this company and the people who work there. They are responsive, have great attention to detail, and really care. I had them come in after a toilet overflowed for many hours, and which started on the first floor and leaked over into the basement. They were thorough, careful of my home, and also sensitive to the emotional cost of having to rip up part of the wood flooring and drywall. Several weeks later, a terrible smell started to come from the area that they worked on in the basement, and they were just as prompt about coming out and making it right. As it turns out, the smell had nothing to do with mold or their work - and after having a plumber, gas company, and finally, an exterminator come in, the smell was determined to be from dead mice that coincidentally died in the same area. Carol was the best and was so concerned that she tried to figure out the cause of the smell as well! Additionally, a shout out goes to John, Lucas and Nick for their great work.
