GIVEN A FAKE I-PHONE!!! DO NOT BUY A PHONE HERE! I went to the Mobile Generation location on Belmont, but wanted to warn others not to go to any Mobile Generation location. This is my first Yelp review, but I feel it is important to warn others about this store. I bought a new Iphone 5 about a year and a half ago. I also purchased the insurance for a one time price of $150. In June 2014, I dropped my phone and had some water damage so was glad to have the insurance. However, I had to pay $150 deductible and another $150 to purchase the insurance plan again. So it was $300 to get a 'new' phone. This phone had some problems: would frequently switch to FaceTime while on a phone call, thus dropping the call, was slow to change between apps, etc. I just thought the phone had a few glitches until recently when it started turning off every 5 minutes, and then progressed to turning off every 5 seconds. I went back to Mobile Generation and was told I needed to go to the Apple Store. I drove to the Apple Store, paid for parking, waiting for over an hour, only to be told that it was a FAKE IPHONE and they couldn't fix it. So full of embaressment and rage, I headed back to Mobile Generation. The salesman that told me to go to the Apple Store looked shocked and said he had only been working there a month. But the other guy was fully aware of their scheme and had already called the manager and said he would give me a 'free' replacement. The 'new' phone is still a refurbished phone. It looks legit, but maybe it is just a better imposter! The invoice says Apple Iphone so feel it very unethical to be giving fake Apple products! Also their insurance 'deal' is also pretty bad since you end up paying $300 if anything happens to your phone. I would recommend not going to any Mobile Generation location. read more

I would like to compliment Emmit on his skills of dealing with a customer that just wasnt sure of what was needed. I must have asked him at least 30 questions, while interupting his answers. He was very knowledgeable of the product ( phone and accessories) I wanted to purchase. I was determined to get the best deal verizon could offer. Emmit was very patient with me, was determined to sell me and satisfy my budget and keep the cost of my monthly service at a minimum. He carefully went over several plans, again a couple of times and he helped me determine what was best for me. He carefully explained all the scenarios, all the different items pertaining to each package and also was careful TO EXPLAIN TO ME THE ADVANTAGE AND DISADVANTAGES OF EACH . He again is very patient, knowledgeable of the different offers from Verizon... His customer Service just soared above and beyond. Great smile, and I thoroughly am happy with my new contract, my phone, and verizon service.. I really can't recommend this place highly enough. I had been dealing with Verizon on an upgrade issue for 2 and a half weeks, and had made up my mind to give the company one more shot to remedy their many mistakes else I was going to go to sprint (ugh). Lloyd and Sean single handedly kept me as a Verizon customer because their service is so very good. Not only did they take a ton of personal time to help me sort out Verizon's corporate problems, but they took added time to discuss the pros and cons of every smart phone available, even going so far as to get the phones out of their box so I could feel the weight and balance of them. This is a location that clearly prides themselves on their customer service, and it absolutely shows. I could not have asked for better customer service. I went in to change my phone and I didn't give myself enough time. I had to run to work so Chris let me leave my phone for a couple hours until I could get back to the store to pick it up. When I returned he had it all ready to go with my contacts loaded to my new phone and all the paper work and receipts for my rebate ready (he even made a copy for my rebate with my proof of purchase and had everything--but the box top torn off--ready for me to mail). What impressed me most was that even though I was switching from a smart phone to an old styled flip phone, he helped me like he would have helped someone buying $1000 worth of product. I have been in this store 4-5 times in the past 6 months for multiple phone replacement/theft issues and each time my experience gets better. Melissa has been extremely helpful along with the rest of the team in working to resolve my already stressful phone drama and come up with the best solution for me. They have dealt with various roadblocks along the way and have been clear as to what the issues were and how they were going to remedy them. I enjoy the genuine, friendly care and attention they put into each customer and aside from the negative circumstances which have brought me to the store, it has always been a pleasant experience and improved my day. I came into this location because I had an issue with my phone. At first Nicola was helping me. She was very kind and knowledgeable answering all my questions. She had to start working with another customer so Emmett stepped in. He had to give me a loaner phone. He took the extra step and offered to download an app to send all my pics to. I was not looking forward to losing my pics. It was so thoughtful of him to do that. He was so patient in trying to get my pics over. Very kind and person friendly! I went in today to return the loaner phone and he was there. He made sure everything was good before I left. Very happy with the service from him. Nicola as well! read more

Was just in today. Emmett and Nicole(I really hope that's right, she was so helpful) were fantastic. I was looking to upgrade to a new phone after a few years and while I had a few ideas what I was looking for, they were both so informative and steered me in the right direction. I'm incredibly happy with the phone I ended up with and Emmett set me up with a portable backup battery that is already a huge upgrade over what I was looking at. I've had a lot of experiences purchasing electronics and this was easily one of the best. So informative and friendly. If I'm living in Chicago when next I need a phone, I'll definitely be going back. read more

Nicola, the store manager, was a sure-footed guide through my switch from an old flip phone to a new smart phone. She articulately, and with good humor, addressed all my questions and left me with a sense of clarity about how every aspect of the new plan and the new phone would operate. I am not a tech-savvy person in any way, yet she made me feel right at home with my new communications world. I highly recommend her store. Also, her employee Melissa, who helped me with my initial questions several days before I came in and made the switch, was equally clear and articulate, and good-humored. I went to this store because it is closest to my home, but I wasn't expecting the superb customer service from Nicola and Melissa. I needed to transfer my photos and contacts from my HTC phone to my new iphone. My old phone was giving Nicola some issues but she managed to transfer everything over eventually. They were extremely nice and answered all of my questions. I would recommend anyone who wants above and beyond customer service to attend this store. I've used various Verizon stores for past 15 years (at least), with differing levels of satisfaction, but generally positive. I decided to try the Andersonville store beaded on all the positive reviews. Those reviews are all there for a reason: I certainly had the most customer-service oriented experience that one could wish for. And as I spent 2- plus hours there buying and getting Kenny's help setting up my new phone, I saw many customers receive equally excellent service. And since I walked in (and out of) the flagship Mag Mile Verizon two nights ago ready to buy, today's experience was especially appreciated. read more

I don't normally write reviews at all. All I can say is truly incredible customer service. I admit to not being a technical expert, long story short, I created my own phone problem, then actually made it worse. Mirza (store manager) was absolutely amazing (and incredibly patient) as she worked to resolve everything, including giving me a loaner phone while mine was locked. I still had some slight issues but nothing was too much trouble for Mirza to resolve. Good humored throughout - while I was feeling stressed! Lloyd is also great. I have worked a few times with various salespeople in this store over the past year or so, and they are always courteous and helpful, and 'know their stuff.' My latest venture in there was for a phone accessory that became inoperational within two weeks. I gave Chris Haskell frank and honest account of the product and was able to bring the product back in to change it out with another product. The professionalism and friendliness of Chris and Nicole was very well-received. I will be shopping for all my phone needs at this store because of the great customer service! read more

I have gotten my first two and only smartphones from this verizon store, and have had great experiences both times. Lloyd was very friendly and knowledgeable about all their products, and walked me through the upgrade / backup process in detail, actually investigating what I was trying to do and not simply reciting a script. He presented all of the different price options without too much pressure, and found a few different ways to save me $ on my monthly bill. I had dealt with a shitty T-Mobile phone and plan not knowing I could afford a much better service as well as hardware. Me and my boyfriend went to the store and were asking questions on maybe switching over, needless to say Lloyd won my trust. Not only did he manage to get us two phones that fit everything we needed in performance but a great price per month and got us every discount he legally could. Gotta say that this Verizon store has been, by far, the best of any I have ever visited in Chicago. I recently moved here from San Francisco almost 2 years ago, and was not impressed by Verizon's other locations; bringing my satisfaction down a bit with the service. That changed when I started visiting this place, that I didn't even know was near me. Chris has been my contact on all of my visits (cool guy, very friendly) and he resolved a long standing bill pay issue on my account that Customer Care couldn't figure out, for nearly 6 months. read more

Lloyd was very friendly and helpful. I got an amazing upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy 5 and I love it!! Even though I have been an iPhone user for the past 3-4 years. Lloyd went through everything with me, showed me how to use my phone, and gave me a great deal on phone products and insurance. I had a great experience here getting my new iPhone 5c. Lloyd provided excellent service - told me everything I needed to know, helped me turn in my old phone for money off the new one, and didn't get pushy when I refused the insurance offer. He also got me set up in record time. I don't think it took more than 20 minutes from the time I walked in the door to the time I was walking home calling friends on my new phone.
