So I made the switch form Spectrum Internet and TV to Frontier (AKA: Verizon) FIOS about 4 months ago in Long Beach, CA. Getting in is a deal, getting out not so much. The setup appointment was easy and on time and all the installation fees were waived and included the DVR box (still says Verizon on it), modem/router and remote. Total installation time was a little lengthy at about 2 hours because the guy had to mess with the cable box that's installed in the apartment closet quite a bit. Nice guy, though once he got started talking he wouldn't stop. Probably added an additional 30 minutes just for that. After that service has been about 95% percent consistent with both TV and Internet. It was actually fairly solid the first couple of months then started to get random drops. TV channels would black out of get pixelated, and internet would just disappear to have to reconnect. Speed test show a consistent 80 Mbps download with 60 Mbps upload. Should be faster as they claim 100/100 ! Otherwise DVR works, picture quality is better than cable but the same as satellite and the remote menu interface is decent and the actual TV remote lights up. They still need to grey out the channels you don't get in the menu. Where Frontier really SUCKS is that they still make you do 12 month contracts. Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to move and end my contract early. They do not waive the fee, which is $79 for early termination. They charge you $39 if you want to put the account on hold or vacation mode. They also do not pro-rate your cancellation date. So if you cancel on the 2nd of the month, they charge you for the ENTIRE month! Absolutely TERRIBLE policy. So yeah, that's the deal.

I think these folks had a learning curve and are now able to provide better service. You can't get the upload speed anywhere else.

After the install (which took 2 weeks, only downside) I tested the speed and got 108/120 when plugged directly into the router.

They helped me cancel my existing Google Fi mobile account and setup my new mobile line at Spectrum - which triggered the free Dodger deal. They were knowledgeable, professional and a joy to work with. I asked Connie if she could possibly reduce my spectrum internet costs. She looked at my account and ended up cutting my monthly charges in half saving me $86 per month (I have two houses so it was $43 each). A 50% reduction. I can't believe I'm giving spectrum a five star review but they earned it.

Their app is okay, it's not the best app; however, the customer service are always beyond helpful, kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our Spectrum internet was erratic for a while, and the technicians came out to our house several times before actually fixing the issue. Our router crapped out once, and my husband had to spend an inordinate amount of time waiting in line to swap out the bad router with a new one. Any time we have had an internet outage, a phone call to Spectrum gets us set up with a refund for the internet down time, which is typically around $1.00 or so, and I don't bother with the calls much anymore. I like their text messaging system with which they advise you of both an outage in our area and the outage's resolution. That's nice information to have! Spectrum is crept up in pricing over the years and we recently switched to AT&T Fiber. For now, it's "so long" to Spectrum; however, it's nice to know they service our rural area should we need them in the future!

I called South Bay Internet (SBI) Friday, told them I was recommended by several neighbors but I wanted to know what was the difference between their service and my HughesNet service that I've had for a year and a half; one thing she said was there are no data caps with SBI. I love that. Usually 2-3 days into my monthly cycle with HughesNet, everything is buffering, and never plays, I guess I exceeded my data usage and I refused to buy more. So I've never been able to enjoy Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime movies or any of that, only if I use my cell phone I was told Paul, the owner, would call me back to make an appointment ; he did. We scheduled the installation for Sunday (can you believe that!!). It took maybe a couple hours to hook everything up. Once we set up a Network name and password, Paul had me hook up whatever I needed to the internet and he verified the signal strength before he left. Everything was working beautifully and continues to do so as I write this review. From my initial phone call to the company to my interaction with Paul it has been nothing but five star. Extremely professional. Paul told me if I have any questions or problems to call him directly. He stands behind his work/company name. If you have smart TVs, as most people do, or cameras, those things are very draining to your Internet system so running these things, uses data. I was a Spectrum Internet customer for years before I sold my condo and moved to my current location, never thought in terms of struggling with the Internet.
