My wife and I have a new son-in-law who is highly allergic to tree nuts/peanuts. As a result it is impossible for him to enjoy almost any store bought candies. With him being new to the family it was important that we make him feel included in the Christmas Stocking Treats Tradition. Vermont Nut-Free Chocolates came to our rescue. He thoroughly enjoyed each selection we purchased last year. This year we ordered even more items. We received an email alert from both USPS and Vermont Chocolates that my package had arrived but when we went to the door there wasn't a package. We contacted our neighbors and none of them had it. So we emailed both USPS and Vermont Chocolates about the problem (both closed for the evening). Early the next morning we received an email from Vermont Chocolates informing us that not only had they already created a replacement pkg but they would rush shipping so it would arrive in 3 days. We were extrememly thankful but told them we needed the pkg before we left for out of town (2 days) or we couldn't use it. So Vermont Chocolates switched their shipping service and paid for 2-day rush delivery. All of this at $0 cost to us. Most companies would have just just apologized or at best, refunded me my purchase cost. But I was desperate for the nut free chocolates and Vermont Chocolates didn't disappoint. I cannot thank them enough for going above and beyond to correct an issue that they didn't cause. And keep in mind, this was the busiest week for Christmas shoppers yet they immediately and thoroughly addressed our issue. read more

I LOVE this company! My fiancé has a deadly peanut and tree but allergy and he has never been able to have a normal Halloween and eat the candy, so I wanted to give him that option! We have been buying the chocolates here for years, but this year was special and noteworthy of a "5" rating. First, for folk with peanut allergy this was a a great option to ensure our son had holiday candies and treats throughout the year. In fact, now that he is grown and living on the west coast, we take great pleasure in sending the caramel chocolates as a surprise treat. So that brings us to the second point, we get the chocolates not only because they are safe but they are really really good! Not only is Vermont Nut-Free Chocolate a great option for many with food allergies, the products are really good quality that you would not think their products were subpar because they didn't contain nuts. The name brand chocolates taste oily to me and seem to lack quality chocolate but not Vermont. I often sneak the chocolate pretzels and skippers from allergic family member but I buy extra so no one is without. Great customer service as well!! Just wish they had more vendors in California. Was so awesome to be able to safely gift this to my friend with nut allergies (who so often goes without). I'm giving a 5 star rating but I do have a suggestion. First, my son has peanut allergies so we are frequent buyers of Vermont Nut Free products. They are excellent and my kids and my wife and I love the stuff. Here's my problem. My favorite are the smurtles. So good... but almost impossible to get the smurtle un-stuck from the wax paper they are boxed in. It takes me 10 minutes to get all the bits of wax paper off it. I'm begging you guys... find a new way to package these. This is not a 1 time issue. Same thing happened on Easter and last Christmas. read more

My girlfriend loves truffles but she is severely allergic to tree nuts. Pretty much every truffle place I went to (like See's, Teuscher, and K Chocolatier) was unable to guarantee that their chocolates were safe. So, until now, her usual method was to take a little bite, wait a little while to see if anything happened, then eat the rest. Not the ideal solution, certainly. Traveling together for Christmas and not wanting to risk ending the night with an epi pen sticking in her leg, I took a chance and had a small box of truffles delivered to our hotel. (I ordered by phone so I could choose the assortment myself.) She LOVED them! It was only 6 pieces and, since I can eat whatever I want, I didn't want to deprive her of any of them by trying one myself. But I bought her a bigger box for Valentine's Day, and maybe this time I'll get a taste. All that really matters to me is that she loved them, and that we both have peace of mind knowing they're safe. The only thing that keeps it from a full five stars is the price: With shipping, it's about $30 for a dozen, on par with the finest designer chocolatiers in Beverly Hills. I know the rent in Grand Isle, Vermont isn't on par with Rodeo Drive. And surely it can't be THAT hard to simply not bring nuts into your factory. You just don't order any, and none come. Nuts are expensive. Not having to buy any should mean the chocolate is cheaper! But we're buying a niche product and, because they're the only ones providing it, they can charge whatever the market will bear. I'm certainly willing to pay it! I've ordered from Vermont Nut Free Chocolates twice. As someone with a severe peanut allergy, a box of chocolates was always something I was forced to live without. I was so excited to find a company that specialized in creating nut free treats! Recently, I ordered a 24 piece assorted box which costs approximately $50 when the cooling gel pack is included. The chocolates were delicious and in perfect, unmelted condition when they arrived at my humid South Carolina doorstep. I placed my order online, and after you input your billing information, you are given the option to include a message. As this was a gift to be shared between myself and my new fiance, I carefully typed a witty message to be included in my order. To my disappointment, the message wasn't included when I received my order a few days later. I contacted Customer Service via the email listed on the Vermont Nut Free Chocolates website, explaining my situation, providing my order number, and inquiring as to why my message wasn't included. I didn't hear back until 3 days later from Customer Service. The response was that they were sorry, they never received the message on their end, they were glad I enjoyed the chocolates, and please contact them if I had any questions. Not awful customer service by any means, but I was disappointed--I didn't feel satisfied as a customer. I spent quite a bit of money on an order with an important message to be included, and I feel like there should have been some kind of consolation provided: the ability to resend a smaller gift with a message, a coupon code for free shipping to use on future orders, etc. Just something to make me feel like my concern was taken seriously. The chocolates are wonderful, they arrive quickly and in perfect condition, but overall, the customer service in regards to addressing concerns in my case was lacking. First let me say I've been ordering product from Vermont Nut Free for my business Guess What's Cooking for several years and they have been great. However, on this last order there was a shipping issue. Shipping issues happen so I understand. My issue is how you treated me. I'm disappointed that I was never notified of the shipment being damaged and I've cancelled several of my customers orders due to no product. If I was notified I could have gotten my chocolate elsewhere until my shipment arrived. When I called you offered nothing and told me you left me a message. Hmmm....we all know phones/vm tracks everything and I didn't receive a message and offered to send my call logs. You basically told me I could refuse the shipment or call it back. Since I have an extreme allergy to all nuts that I have had my entire life, I have been unable to have most sweets and normally just have to stick with only a few types of sweets. Listen, I've grown up with a peanut/nut allergy, and I was SO SO SO excited to experience these chocolates. I order about 120 dollars worth for my birthday (a gift from several family members) and they arrived today. I'm disappointed. These boxes are tiny! I would imagine that for 30 bucks a box, they'd be comparable in size to something like Russell Stover, which is about 1/2 the cost of Vermont. But the chocolates are legitmately half the size of what I will call "normal sized" chocolates. Perhaps this could be justified if they were AMAZING chocolates, like Laura Secord or "designer" chocolatier quality. But they just arent. The truffles are not light and fluffy, but rather filled with a fudge like chocolate. The buttercreams are delicious, but tiny and way, way overpriced. As someone with nut allergies, let me tell you, it is so nice to be able to sink my teeth into a piece of chocolate that doesn't say "may contain peanuts" on the wrapper! It's a little pricey, but well worth it. The chocolate is so good that I would still want to eat it even if I did not have allergies. The only things I haven't cared for in the years I've been ordering from them are the granola bars and fudge. Everything else has been excellent! Beware of ordering from Vermont Nut Free Chocolates and spending the extra $25.00 for special shipping. I ordered candy for my grandchildren who live in Arizona. I had to pay an extra $25.00 for two day plus the ice pack since it was coming to a warm climate. When my grandchildren candy never arrived, I tried tracking it with the tracking number supplied. It was shipped via United States Postal service. (which had a 50 minute wait time on the phone). I contacted Vermont Nut Free Chocolates, They tracked it to the local post office that services my grandchildren's home. It had been sitting at the post office for days, no notice sent or dropped off at my grandchildren's home. When I mentioned to Vermont Nut Free Chocolates that I paid the Extra $25.00 for special shipment and they should be the ones to call the Post Office to straighten this out.
