The restrooms are very clean and even have heaters that turn on for the chillier nights so you don't walk into a super cold bathroom. There are a lot of nearby fast food restaurants, payphones, and name brand coffee shops. There's even a gelato/sorbeto shop nearby which I think I might check it out the next time I'm around. Oh! They have video surveillance of the area and also civilian patrol so you shouldn't have to worry about getting mugged or anything. But of course, use common sense. And I didn't forget the truckers. This is also a truck stop.

Women's and men's bathrooms both very clean…read more Stalls well-stocked with 4 tissue rolls attached in each stall. Also have toilet covers. Water fixture is one where you push down and it times out after x seconds. Like any of those in any location, the water never runs long enough for you to do a thorough lather and then wash off your hands. So you have to touch it again to finish hand washing which I don't like. So then, I use my elbow or sanitizer after. Blow dryer instead of hand towels. Easy to get into rest stop and out. If they had drink vending machines like most do, it wasn't obvious but I didn't go around the back or sides to see. A very small amount of grass. Enough for your dog or small child to run around and get energy out. Feels safe during day. Can't remember lighting outside at night, but remember being glad my husband was there.

Littered parking…read morelot, sketchy portable unit right at the women's bathroom entrance causing a safety concern, burned foil in the stalls with drug residue, mound of legit human feces next to the viewpoint walkway. I definitely feel whomever has to maintain this rest stop should get hazard pay if they don't already. Being in the off-season, I could see how the grounds weren't manicured and the picnic table area was overgrown. There were a few semi trucks in the lot, and a few cars came through to use the facilities when we were there so it seems busy enough. The view seems like it would be breathtaking on a clear day. Glad we were there during daylight hours, travelers beware at night!

John was the only child of an Indus Valley girl who totally made his fortune in jasmine tea and ricey crisps before retiring to the semi-arid climbs of the plateau to escape the rain... or more accurately, not ;-) meanwhile in the real world: bits of John Quititit's actual history can be read from the information boards at this rest area along with some salient points about life in the surrounding countryside. it's totally worth taking a few minutes to sit and contemplate how amazing this place is and how it must have been way back when. also, local rumor has it that someone is passing out coffee and cookies around here in warmer weather but that could be completely made up too ;-)

Several picnic tables are accessible from the pathway around the building. One vending machine is available at the near end of the lot. A good stop to empty your bladder and stretch your legs. If you have food, nice picnic spot. No other services available at this rest area. Parking for vehicles large (RV, trailers, OTR) and small (Vans, cars, etc.).

Stanfield Rest Area is typical of modern Oregon stops; abundant parking for large and small vehicles, easy access w/o too many curves coming or going, well maintained grassy areas, and fully utile utilities and a vendo-torium. be advised that stays are limited to 12 continuous hours but this might possibly could include an overnight. maybe...

The bathrooms are always clean and in good condition. The view is amazing. There is even a little history here. Look for the Maps. Anytime we go this way, we will always stop here.
