Fantastic park play structures. But please fix the second zip line. It's most popular attraction and many kids want yo line up to do the zipline. One is there but inoperable.

I was hanging out with my nephews for the holiday so we went to thunder Junction, there is no entry fee, but you'd think you were entering an amusement park. Lots of things to see and do and play with, mostly playground type things, but also some neater stuff like these splash pad water area, and the small train. Highly recommend this for the kiddos if you're in St. George or just passing by.

We didn't really know where to start when we arrived, and there wasn't much direction, so we ended up just climbing the first rock formation we saw. Honestly, if it weren't for a group of people ahead of us, we probably wouldn't have had any idea where to go. I was hoping to make it to the arch, but the climb felt a little too steep and slippery, especially with kids. We were carrying our three-year-old and keeping a close eye on our six-year-old, who was feeling a bit more adventurous than we were comfortable with in that terrain. We didn't make it very far in and mostly just stopped to take a quick photo so we could say we visited. It was also pretty hot, with the sun beating down the whole time, which made it harder to explore and enjoy the park fully. That said, the park itself is really nice, and you can tell there's a lot to see if you're prepared and know where you're going. I'd recommend going earlier in the day, bringing plenty of water, and maybe looking up a map or trail guide ahead of time, especially if you're visiting with young kids. Overall, it's a cool place, but we didn't get to experience it as much as we had hoped. Definitely worth another try with better planning!

Hidden Valley Park is easily one of the best playgrounds I have taken my toddler to in the St…read more George area! It is tucked away in the back of a neighborhood area in the southern part of town. This playground features a huge, well-maintained play structure with tons of space for running and exploring. Compared to other playgrounds, it is also well-shaded. There is also a smaller toddler play structure, although that one does get a lot more sun exposure. Beautiful grassy areas and tons of trees surround the playground. It is also next to a covered picnic table area. There is also a splash pad that we didn't get to see this time, but hopefully next time we will! I wish we could have come to this park more than once. But it was a little bit out of the way compared to the other places we visited. But it is definitely worth including on your list of St. George playgrounds!

The town square has a myriad of things including some picnic tables, art work, sculptures, and music playing through some speakers in the nearby tower. While sitting there enjoying a picnic lunch a roadrunner decided to show up and it was funny to see some little kids chasing it. The bird was probably stressed but the little kids thinking they had a chance to get close it it was making me laugh. All we needed was a coyote (meep meep). There is a carousel, a splash pad, and lots of art sculptures. The area is lit up right now in Dec, with Christmas lights, and they are done pretty well. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby within 1/4 - 1/2 mile, easy to walk around. Check out my photos.

I usually go here for a walk in the morning because it has a great path/trail, nice large pond with a lot of ducks, geese and swans. There are also a playground for kids, tables for picnic, and restrooms as well. I always have a great time with my family here at this park.

There are a couple of other parks in town that I usually stop…read moreat with my dog, but as I was driving by, I noticed this park and my dog needed a potty break, so I pulled into the parking lot and got out. The park looked beautiful from the start and hearing the water from the nearby creek that goes through some of the 7 acre park was very relaxing and peaceful. There are no swings in this park more than likely because they have been taken out of most parks due to safety concerns. The closest thing you will find to a swing at this park are the swinging benches and I recommend relaxing in one near the creek like I did because it was so nice! This park is located next to the Santa Clara River and the water flowing through the creek is water from the river. There was a flood in 2005 and there are plaques I saw that mentioned some of the homes right near the river across from this park that were flooded and the plaques tell some of the story that you might want to stop and read and then take a look around at the area to better understand with a visual experience some of what happened. The playground is very interesting. Hubby and I had a fun time trying to figure out what the heck most of it was. I can't imagine they would take the swings and other playground equipment out to start putting this type of stuff in, but it's happening and I am seeing it at more and more parks. The play structures I saw and played on were extremely fun and also extremely dangerous. You will have the type of kids who don't let kids play in a place like this and will give a 1 or 2 star rating because the playground equipment is dangerous, but not me. I rather let my kids have fun memories of playing at the park and if they break an arm or leg well that's just what happens and I will not sue the park or city because it's just apart of being a kid. The Santa Clara River Regional Trail goes through the park and the path for it is hard to miss and well maintained. There are 2 shaded picnic areas that are good sized with picnic tables and BBQ grills. There are bathrooms and they were clean, a volleyball court and horseshoe pits. This park offers something for the whole family.

There's a path that winds through the park that takes you through the trees, past the flowers and the bushes. There are signs throughout that tell visitors what plants are in the area, so you can better identify what you're looking at. Even though it gets extremely hot in the summer, there's a good amount of shade, so this park can be enjoyed morning, noon and night.

The best time to visit would be Fall because the entire area was full of yellow and orange trees (Freemont cottonwoods). Wow. I can't believe that this place is free…read more Parking is sparce, especially when they have the holiday lights at night. But there is overflow parking down by pioneer park. We wandered through for about 45 minutes, mostly because I was taking so many pictures. There are several different areas, types of plants, etc. I didn't get to see it during the day, but from what I saw at night there is a nice mixture. Review of the Christmas lights…read more Really enjoyed this place. And it's free! St. George, you're doing it right. It's a family affair here. Chilly and all, we bundle up, pack the car and head to Red Hills Desert Garden for the Christmas light. It's transformed into a beautifully lit park for the holidays where we can walk around and enjoy the lights with the family. There's an area where you can go a floor below and see a small aquarium/ fish tank area. The kids enjoyed it here. Christmas lights really get us in the spirits and this place really does. Parking at night can be challenging and the drive to go park is quite dark. I suggest you bring a good flashlight to help the family walk from the parking to the garden.

There is a place to eat with several picnic tables too. There are some informational signs explaining the history of the area. The landscape is red / orange and full of places to explore and hike around. There are some neat little caves, arches, and assorted nooks and crannies. Great place for everyone to enjoy. I saw families with little ones climbing and hiking, and adults of various ages traversing the rocks. There is a way to hike up to the top of the largest peak, but it is slippery getting up and down. Well Red Gigantic…read more±45k-acre conservation area that was established in 1996 and features almost 130-miles of hiking trails. We only explored a very small portion of the area as we needed to mosey on over to our final destination of Zion but it def looks like something we'd be all-over if we're in the area again. The views are spectacular but be sure to bring water, hat and sunscreen as there's not much in the way of shade--at least in the St George portion we reconnoitered. Happy hikes, kids!
