There's not one thing on the menu I've tried that hasn't been ordered again. The appetizers are delicious and plentiful, the sandwiches are all top notch, the dinners are something to look forward to, especially their daily specials. These women know how to run a tavern, that's certain! That's including the crew behind the swinging door, they deserve cheers as well as the servers who run their buns off for you. I've lived here in the thumb for 15 years and have been visiting Verona Tavern since the beginning. They have painted they have done maintenance and upgrades but nothing severely has changed - it's just clean and friendly and welcoming and that's why I continue to eat there. We stopped in on a weekday afternoon during a day trip through the thumb. This place was very impressive! The food was amazing, with large portions and great prices. The service was top notch as well. I had a BYO burger; the ghost pepper cheese was amazing. You can't go wrong with the waffle fries or the hand cut fries. Just good bar food. The Friday fish fry is always good but it gets packed. The everyday menu has lots of choices including sandwiches, typical fried bar apps and food and daily specials. My daughter could live on the dough balls. We usually just get the burger, ham and cheese, chicken strips and enjoy them all. The soups can be tasty depending on the day. The big thing we wish was that they had more beers on tap. I think there is only 4 usually. read more

First time we went I got a burger. Swapped it up this time and got Kentucky Bourbon Sandwich. It wasn't quite what I was expecting - Bourbon sauce tasted like a sweeter soy sauce. Wasn't necessarily bad, just different. Would do a burger if we return. Onion rings were good, but would've liked to see bigger sandwich instead of 80% of plate being rings. Wife got Club Hoggie and said it was good. Her fries pretty bland and could've used more salt/flavor/spice. Kiddo got chicken fingers, I stole a quick snack and they were delicious. Another option if we return. Service was so-so they were packed, but still stood at "till" a few times while drinks were empty.
