My husband is an amateur photographer, so choosing a wedding photographer after we got engaged was far more important to him than it was to me. When he came across Jenny's website, her wedding photos were exactly what he was looking for. After meeting with Jenny and realizing that here personality quickly put me at ease (and a glowing review from a friend telling me "Hire Jenny, you won't regret it") it was an easy decision to hire her. At that time, I didn't realize how important this decision would be. As a couple, you spend the better part of 9-12 hours with your photographer on your wedding day as they will be capturing most of your interactions throughout the day. Jenny isn't there to just check off the list of photos that you decided on in your pre-appointment, she genuinely cares about her clients and flexibly captures every moment. One of Jenny's super powers is being able to anticipate people's needs. Jenny recognized when I needed some time to recharge during family photos. I was overwhelmed by more opinions than I needed to hear. Jenny noticed it without me saying anything and was able to quickly change the schedule, capture a few photos without me, and deflect the rest of my family while I got a few peaceful moments to walk around and relax. This moment stood out to me because Jenny gave me time to collect myself so that the next photos wouldn't show my feelings under a fake smile. Rather than pushing aside my emotions, Jenny made space for me and the results are spectacular. During that first meeting, Stephanie made sure to walk through the general look and feel of what she'd be doing during our wedding. We went over a pretty comprehensive list of family/group shots that we wanted, and she assured us that the day was going to be special. When she showed up for the day of the wedding, she was prepared and professional and definitely knew how to handle two anxious grooms who were running around making sure everything was good for the festivities. My partner and I just let Stephanie take the reins for how our photos were done, and I'm sure she would have preferred a *little* guidance, we're so glad we did, because her ideas were better than anything we could have come up with. Also, having that list of group shots was so important, because it made taking pictures with all of our family and friends fly by. They looked like lovely pictures of real, happy people - not overly-processed and cinematic. This is exactly the type of style I wanted for our micro-wedding. I generally dislike having my photo taken, and I'm notorious among my friends and family for refusing to be photographed during events. In spite of that, naturally I expected to endure many pictures on my wedding day. Even with my reservations, it all passed so quickly and easily! No feelings of overwhelm, exhaustion, frustration, or impatience. To begin with, we had a Zoom call to serve as our introduction. My distaste for being seen digitally extends to video chats, but Joanna immediately helped put me at ease. She is an expert in her field and specializes in people who are less comfortable with having their photo taken. She offered logistical support in planning our day, as well as the emotional support that comes with having an ally who can understand your position and work with you. She is so kind and personable, which is perfect for those of us who are a little more on the timid side. In terms of the day of, she was already at the venue well before the rest of us arrived. In between taking some get-ready shots, she even helped my family member get into a very tight-fitting dress. I genuinely don't know if we could have wrangled that zipper up without Joanna's help! After that, she gave a brief lesson to my person-of-honor, showing how to properly fluff out my dress's long train behind me. Additionally, I noticed she was skilled with remembering the names of our close family and wedding-party members. Joanna is so organized and swift with her camera. Despite beginning our ceremony a little later than scheduled, she managed to shoot every photo we wanted within our tight timeframe of just two hours - with a few minutes to spare, too! She's also great at giving clear direction to help improve positioning and posing. And it all flew by so fast. She had our photos ready with astonishing speed (just one week later!), and they were just as wonderful as I had hoped! These are exactly what I wished our wedding pictures would look like. I'm so happy with the variety of different shots Joanna managed to capture, and I'm in disbelief of how well they turned out. I couldn't be happier with the service she provided to us on our special day. I would highly recommend her to anybody, but especially to others who might be less confident in front of the camera.
