This office felt organized and calm. I appreciated how the doctor reviewed my previous visits and made some updates based on how things changed over time. They made suggestions that made sense and didn't push anything unnecessary. Took the time to walk through small details and seemed to actually want me to understand what's going on. The assistant in the room kept things moving smoothly and double checked everything. I left feeling like it was a productive visit even though not everything was solved right away. I've been trying to make an appointment for over 2 months. The staff usually answers, telling me that they are not going to take new patients until late August. The last time I called was mid-July and I asked if I could make an appointment or when should I call back? They said that I'm welcome to look for another doctor in the meantime, and if I don't find one, I can call back and they would make an appointment. That does not make any sense. I obviously would like to be seen by this doctor that's why I'm calling. I left a voicemail a few days ago and they never returned my call. It's hard to find a good doctor nowadays, businesses hire a lot of assistants who shouldn't be in the health industry. They forget we are making appointments because of our HEALTH. read more

Refused to send me to a different imaging place even though I said I was uncomfortable with going to VRI for various reasons. Asked to note that on my chart and was met with hostility. She seems nice, but don't let her niceness fool you, she's just like the rest of them. read more

I saw Dr Rivera to remove an IUD that suddenly became unbearably painful. I stayed with her for several weeks seeking care that didn't transpire. I eventually almost died of this infection because it spread throughout my abdomen and then to my heart. I needed pain management. I needed antibiotics and an infection specialist. I had initially asked the her about having the IUD sent to a lab to identify the infection. Their staff snidely advised me that it had been disregarded, not just discarded. There were several unlabeled open cups of urine smelling up the bathroom vanity which staff had no interest in knowing about, but they also told me they don't do UTI tests. I've come to learn that I had a Bartonella/Lyme infection and that insurance doctors do not treat infections. Over the past few decades standard medical has given up treating serious pathogens and only treat the symptoms, if you are fortunate. Now more people die of sepsis than from AIDS and cancer combined. Dr R kept saying it must be a normal period as if nothing I was saying was registering for her. The staff had poor phone etiquette and were indifferently ignorant of prescription, insurance, disability, and other matters. I would have preferred that if the assistant was just going to guess my vitals that she not enter it in my record. They have a legal obligation to treat customers to medical standards. I survived by finding another obGyn who was willing and capable of surgically removing the worst of the infection through full hysterectomy. And then getting to an LLMD for antibiotics. My story is not so obscure. Lyme is an epidemic of 3M people= 1% of the population every year where only a small fraction get diagnosed, by LLMD's. Please spread the word that Lyme disease needs treatment and you must self refer yourself to a private LLMD for diagnosis. Dr Rivera and her staff seemed kind at first but as others here have also concluded, drop the efforts quickly.       It was a very scary, painful, and drawn out ordeal to go through, made more difficult by the lack of respect and ability of this office. You do Not want to go here if you need any real care.  And you need a competent doctor at least once a year to screen for cancer etc.  It's easy to get a same day appointment though and now you know why. When it comes to gynecology appointments, I like it to be in & out quick (and we're talking about EVERY part of the appointment), so Dr. Rivera gets 5 stars in my book! Not only did I not have to wait over a month (nor even two days) for an appointment for an annual exam with Dr. Rivera, my entire appointment lasted no more than 40 minutes. That's including paperwork. I actually was a little bummed out that I only got through 1/4 of the latest People magazine. The waiting room was super nice - almost like a spa. Dr. Rivera was had a pleasant bedside manner and was very informative, making a typically unpleasant exam go by very smoothly. The office also has its own free parking lot in the back, and is just a few blocks away from Valley Fair, so the location is super convenient. read more

Dr. Rivera is great. I never have problems getting an appointment with her, but the office staff is just horrible. After my annual check up, Dr. Rivera suggested that I go to the lab located one building over to get my blood drawn. She referred me to one of the girls in the front. She handed me a sheet that listed the lab's locations and when I asked her for clarification on where exactly the building was, she didn't even bother looking up. The only response I got was, "uh huh, over there". It was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Fast forward to two weeks later, I call to get my test results. The girl working picks up the phone and asks me to hold. 5 minutes later she comes back and I tell her my name and why I'm calling. I have to repeat myself at least 3 times as she can't hear me because she's busy giggling with her coworker in the background. She then puts me on hold for another 5 minutes. Someone else picks up the line and I have to repeat my name once again, as well as the reason I am calling. I get put on hold once more and eventually the line gets disconnected. This was a very frustrating experience and definitely takes away from Dr. Rivera's professionalism. read more

i absolutely LOVE Dr. Rivera!!! if i could give her a 100 stars i would!! She delivered my baby boy and if i have kids in the future, she's delivering them too! The office staff is pretty good at getting me in immediately if i need to. She is verryyy thorough with her exams and very personable.. makes you feel very comfortable despite the fact that she's uhm.. down there. Dr. Rivera answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns down to the nitty gritty..she dispelled any rumors i heard and made me relaxed about the whole pregnancy.. can't beat that in an OB! Dr. Rivera is an awesome doctor, professional and nothing could describe how thankful I am for her thoroughness. During the pregnancy, I was worried that my son was not moving and she sent me in every other day to do a non-stress test, even though one time would have sufficed. Due to going in so many times, she caught the fact that I had developed pre-eclampsia very early on.. had she done the non stress test only once, i prolly woulda died becuz we wouldnt have known i developed pre-eclampsia! Nonetheless, she induced me.. but unfortunately i had a few complications.. i wanted a natural delivery and no epidural.. Dr. Rivera respected both my wishes and did the best she could to give me what i wanted.. An although i ended up with 50+ hours of labor, an epidural and an emergency C-Section, i felt i was VERY well cared for and didnt mind that i went thru all that.. Even the post-op care was great.. and the wellness checkups after that were thorough and she always follows up with you on labtest results. all in all, i would definitely recommend Dr. Rivera to deliver anyone's baby.. she's very calm under stress and i think i was mean and screamed at her.. but she calmed me down and did wat she knew best.. helped me to have a healthy baby.. I always do thorough research on every doctor and I am really glad i came across Dr. Rivera! A real gem! read more

This review is for the Dr. Rivera's office that is located at 706 N. Winchester Blvd. I chose to go to see Dr. Rivera due to the wonderful reviews on here. I'm happy that I did. She is wonderful. I found her to be professional, very nice, listens well and answered all my questions. I truly felt like she cared about me and I was not just another patient coming through the door. I was seen quickly and did not have to wait long at all. The office was small but but clean and set up for all I needed for my yearly exam. All my phones calls were answered by the doctor herself and I did not see any other person but Dr Rivera herself. No person working the front desk. I had my first visit with Dr. Rivera and I can say it a big upgrade from my last Dr. I really liked how she explained everything to me to Have me understand what my game plan was for The future. She made me feel important not a number. I was very satisfied with her as a DR her staff was very friendly with me the office is a little hidden but if you park behind the building off Winchester you walks through the doors and stay to the right it's located further in the building. Forest OBGYN is a very clean and well decorated office with comfy chairs. I would also like to add that their waiting room is one of the nicest I've ever been in. Dr. Rivera is a spectacular doctor. She is very nice and informative. And she is always positive even in the most negative situations. She is also a very thorough and tentative doctor and takes the utmost care of her patients. I actually had a surgery with her where the it was performed in a seperate company owned facility, and even the nurses all talked about how good of a doctor Ms. Rivera was a great doctor and that when they were ready to have a baby, they would have it with her. I would also like to note that 3 different nurses int he facility said something along the same lines. I would reccomend her to anyone and everyone. If she was a general physician that would be even better, even though she already acts like my general physician. read more

This OBGYN is great. Just had another annual exam by her and I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to Pap smears. She made it quick and painless and talking to me throughout the exam helped me relax. She has excellent bedside manner too. In 2014, she examined me and by my request, took out my IUD so I could see if I could get pregnant. I was pregnant 10 days later, and now have a 14-month-old. Things went pretty smoothly and I'm very grateful for that. For many years many doctors told me that I would have a difficult time getting pregnant, but she reassured me that it seemed like everything was fine. I will happily continue to go to this doctor until I can come pregnant again read more

I would give her a zero or negative rating if possible. Dr Rivera is my wife's former OBGYN. The reason we do not use her anymore if because of her terrible handling of my wife's situation. My wife had an ectopic pregnancy that was misdiagnosed by Dr. Rivera nearly resulting in a medical emergency that could have killed her. We had to rush my wife to the emergency room twice in the space of a month because the ectopic pregnancy was not diagnosed correctly. Dr Rivera failed to do her job correctly and this resulted in my wife needing emergency surgery to remove one of her fallopian tubes. This would have been completely unnecessary had Dr. Rivera done her job right. A terrible experience overall - Please do your research before making her your OBGYN. read more

Very torn about this review. Dr. Rivera herself is great however she ultimately is also in charge of her office staff too. As noted here by other yelpers, the office staff is horrible. Really. Scheduling is not handled well and I had to wait an hour one time and yet at another appointment waited an hour only to have to leave as I could not wait any longer. The office manager and finance person does not communicate well or return phone calls. I had a billing issue due to my insurance making an error and had made several follow up phone calls to resolve it, including a call to ensure the bill had been paid-and no return call. I was then dropped as a patient! Really??? I will be taking myself and my adult daughters elsewhere. Avoid this office entirely. It would do Dr. Rivera a great benefit to clean house and start fresh. The staff is not caring, does not follow up or return phone calls. read more

We just had our 3 child. Dr. Rivera was wonderful, she was very respectful of our religious beliefs. She answered all of our questions with a positive, friendly and professional manner. Dr. Rivera is a wonderful change over kaiser (we had our first two at Kaiser). When it was time to have the baby, Dr. Rivera was the best of the Dr.'s that we've had help us (all 3 were natural). Everything was done quickly, not painful, and she was open to questions. She gave me a sample for a birth control method and gave me additional information on what to consider. RUN!!! and don't look back. The receptionist is a bully. The visit I had was actually Okay. I thought the doctor was super nice and seemed genuinely helpful. Based on just the visit, I would have gone back, but then I got the bill and things went downhill very quickly. The first conversation went something like this: Me, "Why am I being billed for two office visits? I scheduled a preventive visit?" Receptionist, "She diagnosed you with PCOS" Me, "No, I told her I have PCOS. I've already been diagnosed with it." Receptionst, "Well, the chart says it in here." (Mind you by this point the receptionist is in full snobby attitude mode and sounds like a rebellious teenager talking to a parent. . .how she still has a job, not a clue) Me, "Well, she didn't diagnose me and I didn't have a discussion nor did I want to talk to her about it all. Is it possible to change the billing code?" In her best snobby attitude "So, you want me to lie for you?" I said "No, I'm not asking you to lie, I came here for a preventive service and I never discussed this with doctor. I told her I had it and she gave me free samples. That doesn't make sense for why you charged an additional visit" Receptionist "Well, you can talk to the doctor if you want, she'll call you back in one or two days." **a couple weeks pass by, no call from doctor, a few more weeks pass by, I send a letter to the doctor stating what happened, trying to get an explanation, more weeks go by with no response** So, I made a second call with insurance company on the line- same thing, snobby attitude receptionist "Doctor will call you back in one or two days" **Weeks go by, no call from doctor** THEN, I get a certified letter in the mail telling me that they strive to encourage positive relationships with their patients, but because I am dissatisfied with their service, I need to find a different doctor and pay them any outstanding charges. You've got to be kidding me. I don't even know if the doctor has any idea of what happened. Probably not. I have had zero contact with her. I can understand having a misunderstanding about a bill, different perceptions, whatever. It happens all the time when dealing with people. We're all human. What I don't understand is when a business can't have a professional adult conversation with you about a billing issue and instead gives you attitude, calls you a liar, and then drops you as a patient. read more

My complaint is that after my recent visit I was billed for an additional service after this doctor asked me a simple question and I answered it. I was shocked when I received a bill for some therapeutic therapy when in fact I'm not on any type of therapy! I just answered a simple question she asked me and now she is billing my insurance. This doctor then turned around and billed my insurance for some extra treatment that I never received. My insurance didn't cover their entire additional bill so I have to pay the difference. Shame on you for trying to make extra money off of your patients. You as a practitioner should not try to ask questions of your patients in order to bill the insurance as if you have your patient on some sort if therapeutic therapy. I will not be returning to your office in the future because I wont support a doctor who submits fraudulent bills to an insurance company just to make an extra buck. Who knows how many patients she has over billed in the past and how many of these little claims she has submitted to the insurance companies.. read more

Wow that's all I can say.....I was considering using her for my pregnancy but wasn't I disappointed! The office staff didn't seem to care what was going on and no one felt the need to keep me updated on the status of my visit when I was waiting for the Dr for 50 min! I was a little hesistant to use her given her limited experience, but that wait and the office staff made that decision for me....I'm glad to make the switch to my first choice OB/GYN who has a lot of experience and great service. I am so torn in my review. I have been going to Dr Rivera for years now and I am so sad that she has the office that she has. At first I never had a problem with the office...appt were fine, all was well. But lately, they have taken on toooooo many patients. I now have a wait time of about an hour (longer than my appt). When I called today to try to schedule an important appt, the office gave me a time and said there would be a wait, and when I asked how long she said probably about 10-15 min. So, I said okay, because I waited over an hour last time and didn't want to do that again and she said "well, you are scheduling last minute". So I said I understand, I just don't think I should have to wait an hour. She then said well, its your choice. She asked where I went before for a specific procedure and then said well maybe I should go there instead... I couldn't believe they would just toss away patients like that... I am so hurt because I would really love to stay w/ Dr Rivera but the office makes my experience so unpleasant. GRRRRR.... read more

I feel very disillusioned by your lack of professionalism and bad will, because last Friday, September 2, early in the morning I left a message with your assistant that I was worried about your diagnoses, and if you could call me or I call you. You showed no intention, nor respect in comprehending why I wanted to communicate with you. As a husband I was worried about the medication that you were prescribing my wife (anti-biotic). My wife and I are patients of Dr. Alfredo Ramirez, and generally we always go to appointments together. It was he who recommended you so that my wife would go meet you. As you may understand, as a couple we are always together. But I see that it was strange for you that I wanted to know your opinion. Is it not my right to ask if I have doubts of what is happening to my wife? What is strange of the situation is that you left me an answer with your assistant and lied to me when I contacted your office a 2nd time and let me know that my wife was being prescribed a cream, in conditions that they were 500mg pills. The situation is if my wife went to go see you on two opportunities and you only prescribed her cleaning-creams while saying that everything was fine, why did you prescribe antibiotics on the last appointment? I lament having to write you this letter that will serve you as a lesson to be more sensible with the families of your patients, and you won't have to lie or show prejudice against the husbands of your patients.
