She knew what she was doing, every step of the way, and explained everything we were doing in a way I could easily understand, including anything I needed to do or bring. And it all paid off, because we won our case! I feel safer now, and I couldn't have won without Ms. Pedicini. Legal Aid has a small but bright and clean waiting room, with a table full of leaflets on any imaginable legal issue and services from other agencies in Sonoma County, as well as a small play area for young children. I spied one client being allowed to charge her phone while she waited. It's typically very busy. But despite being busy, the staff were always kind to me, and helped me with what I needed. At each visit, Ms Pedicini offered me a light snack and a drink (water, coffee), and she was accommodating to food sensitivities. I will ALWAYS recommend Legal Aid to anyone I know that is in need. They're an organization with a heart of gold.

I am a whistle blower, the corporation was trying to silence me. I keep all receipts and videos showing the Corporation violating several tenant rights at a senior complex. The intake attorney at Legal Aid would not listen to me nor look at my documented proof. She was very hostile & nonprofessional. I went to Rural Housing & they took my ironclad case & we won. Now they are worse. If you disagree with Legal aid, they become angry and are not helpful at all. Very unfortunate for low income seniors who do not know their rights (as I do). They are not the "charitable, helpful" people that their website displays.

We called him recently to come take care of a snake on a property that we've been renovating about two weeks ago. He wasn't able to locate snake and we never saw it again so we didn't contact him again afterwards. We had been renovating this particular property so hadn't been living there full-time, but had been storing lots of tools and equipment in our empty garage. A few days ago we happened to be staying at the house overnight while working on the renovations. At around 10pm, we suddenly heard strange noises coming from our garage that sounded like someone walking around. We looked out the window and saw a car parked behind the garage where it wasn't visible from the street! We immediately called 911 and the cops showed up to find this guy from the Reptile Rescue stalking around!! As soon as he saw the cops he immediately ran off into the dark. Eventually he must have realized he was caught so he came back to his car where the cops confronted him what he was doing at our house. He started lying about how we had scheduled him to come out tonight to take care of a snake (which was total BS!!) but couldn't show any evidence or phone call, etc. to the cops. Unbelievable and scary. We had a bunch of tools go missing recently so wouldn't be surprised if this guy was coming to our property to steal from us while we were gone. A lesson to ALWAYS have cameras on your property! DO NOT LET HIM INTO YOUR PROPERTY.

Parking is a tricky situation (follow the signage)- and it's an act of faith to drive on the narrow, steep roads. The main building isn't self-explanatory. On Wednesday mornings, they have a women's group called Julian's Cell, meditating to New Agey Celtic music. It's in a small chapel adorned with a cerulean mosaic. Julian's Cell is a small, friendly, welcoming group. It's a quiet, New Agey place with an androgynous crucifix, a statue of Our Lady beside a labyrinth, and an icon of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It's a place for rest and peace.

I'd heard good things about it. The pictures I found online of Angela Center definitely made the campus seem creepy (myriad of crucifixes, stations of the cross, etc.). When I first arrived, it looked and felt more welcoming than the pictures would suggest. It's bright (except for the chapel itself), very clean, and very well-organized. The rooms are small and efficient, equipped with air conditioning and heat. The beds are super comfortable. The grounds are beautiful, peaceful, and idyllic with birds singing, lizards sunning themselves, and a couple of cats who ask for pets and scratches. It's full of fruit trees and bright flowers blooming everywhere, lush foliage, and full, healthy trees. I am certain that this was a perfect spot for a Spirit Rock (or any) retreat space. I definitely recommend this center for a retreat or meeting.

For the older folk, learning about the value of the Laguna to the whole of our watershed is part of the package. Vernal pools, restoration projects and a collaboration with the California Native Plant Society to conserve seeds and grow Monarch-friendly milkweed are on offer. This is a hidden gem in our very precious Sonoma landscape. Look for it.

I force myself to give away items I haven't worn in over a year. If I can't remember the last time I wore it, it goes to Salvation Army, Goodwill or St. Vincent. If those white pants that I bought 3 years ago for summer doesn't fit me anymore, that goes too. I don't keep it in my closet and hope that I will fit into it "someday", no siree! that's what shopping is for. This flowery-sparkly brown silk top that I have was given to me as a christmas gift by a good friend and that doesn't go to St. Vincent. (Either my boobs got bigger or the top shrank. I don't know, but I think it's the latter) It goes to my skinny-mini friend, Shana. Things not to give away: underwear with holes (actually, underwear period. except if they have tags on) , socks with holes, shoes that are falling apart. Please. Just don't. This St. Vincent has an easy drop off location ( but hours are limited, they stop taking donations at 4pm) and they give you a receipt for your donation. It's handy when the tax season comes.
