Swung in to start my New Years right - the place is cute, no inside seating, more of a counter inside the warehouse but super industrial and cute Walk in the door on the right to order, out the door on left with items - I might have stood behind the people on left waiting to order for a few before I realized my mistake ;-) Ordered the Cardamom White Chocolate Mocha and it was phenomenal !! The flavors just meshed together and were so good I was super happy to see they had gluten free treats, in a separate space than the gluten ones, so I grabbed the cranberry polenta pastry - that was also heavenly! They had 3 different g/f pasty options when I was there It was raining so I didn't get to enjoy the outdoor seating but I'll def swing by again when I'm in town read more

If I could give half stars, I would. My overall experience would be 4.5/5 stars. I tried the iced matcha latte with oat milk, and it was creamy, nutty, smooth, and not bitter at all. I just wish the barista had mentioned that no sweetener is added; otherwise, I would've asked for honey. The iced vanilla latte was also really good. The coffee beans were high-quality, with subtle nutty notes and a delicate smoky aroma from the roast. The coffee wasn't bitter at all and the sweetness was the right amount. read more

There's no indoor seating. Service was prompt and helpful, order and collect at the bar. Prices were predictably high. I didn't get a drink, which is almost certainly their strongest area. Chocolate croissant was nice, but not stand out in any way. I wouldn't avoid Verve, but I wouldn't seek it out either. read more

I've been coming here for months since moving back home, but today was very disappointing. I usually show up early in the morning with my tattoos showing and comfy clothes, and have very friendly conversations with the baristas. Today, I showed up in my work uniform and did not get greeted, barely acknowledged, and even got two eye rolls and chuckles from girl who took my order, and attitude for no reason when complimenting her. I personally don't think it's fair to ever judge people or treat others differently than how you want to be treated, so I will happily support other small businesses who hire better people to run their business. read more

Had an amazing iced vanilla latte here. I know it sounds basic but...they definitely have the beans here! I also got the chance to try their almond croissant and ooooooowwwweeee was that a flaky buttery croissant! Came at around 8 am on a Sunday. I'm a Verve fan and have been ordering their beans online for a few years, so was excited to visit the OG IRL when we stayed in Santa Cruz. Their coffee is legit, their teas incredible and I usually double fist it by getting an iced Jamaica in one hand and a Moroccan Mint in the other, though their lattes are on point. They have a few benches out front, so if you can snag one while the sun is out, it's quite wonderful. Someone in their review mentioned walking up and being awkwardly stared out and had to break the ice with the person working. I agree and thought it was weird but think it's just a training issue. As for Verve, I'd recommend saying hi and greeting customers to break the ice when they walk in. A simple 'hey, let me know if you have any questions with the menu', goes a long way. read more

Other retail locations are friendly and welcoming, but at the roastery it seems like it's part of their onboarding training to make their customers feel like they're putting the workers out just by being there. I am a huge fan of coffee and verve has been one of my go to coffees in Santa Cruz. I opted to get a seasonal drink and ordered a hot apple cider that came with chai! It tasted like a cup of Christmas! So delicious and so warm for the soul, I loved it. Only thing I would say needs improvement is the service. Oftentimes I go into a verve and people just don't look happy or want to work there. It feels like I have to bother someone to order a drink which isn't the best feeling in the world. read more

Background: I moved into the neighborhood 2 mo ago. Lived in SC proper for 20yrs. Never had a Verve coffee. Self admitted coffee aficionado with excellent commercial equipment of my own built into my house and my wife works at a competing coffee shop and has been in the industry for over 25 yrs. First visit: Orders a single shot fresh off the machine. Not to shabby for corporate coffee. Not so great considering there equipment. Ordered a second drink and received a watery chia. Staff is more interested in talking amongst themselves than pay attention to their orders and gave me the worst drink to date I'm the county. Disappointed! Second visit: Ordered a mocha extra hot, flat, no whip in my cup requested to be preheated. I received my coffee in their cup, asked for my cup back and the barista dump the drink into my cold steel cup. Disappointed again. Third visit: Same as the second. I couldn't believe it! Forth visit: Brought a close friend of mine. He has never had a verve coffee either. He ordered a chia latte w/oat milk . Guess what! It was watery again. Worst chia in town! I know a guy in town that makes chia. He provides numerous shops. His chia isn't that great. I'm guessing it's his. And the oat milk must come from the cheapest source possible. How about you check your workers and test them on the machine and drink ratios. It's really bad. The consistency from barista to barista is off. So dang disappointed. Other shops have you guys beat hands down I'm consistency and customer service. I do like you mocha blend when you guys get it right. I'm no slouch. I don't write reviews often and having to write a review about my neighbor hood business like this totally blows. I'll periodically check in to see if things change around there. I enjoy Verve's bowl of souls! Love the Turmeric Ginger and the Peppermint with almond milk. Perfectly creamy and SO comforting! When I get iced coffees I usually go for the whiskey flavoring. I also highly recommend their matcha latte! It is high quality and is easier on the stomach than coffee. The Seabright location is my fav for a grab and go. Yesterday coffee was great and I bought a cup to take home that I brought back today and had my coffee put in for my walk back. Service yesterday was friendly but today even friendlier. First, I LOVE Verve but I LOVE this locations the MOST! I love that it's close to the & I love the driftwood on the side of the building. It's in a neighborhood so it's not busy, which makes it even more relaxing to sit outside on a stool or bench. Now let's talk about that smooth & aromatic ! No bitter aftertaste! I don't drink coffee so my review is a collection of experiences from going with my family. 1. My dad is very picky so he wanted a double shot with a cup of ice on the side AND a shot of half and half on the side lol it was like a make your own drink experience. They were very obliging here so that's nice and my dad was happy. 2. My mom was chillin 3. My sister ordered her drink but they made it hot so she tried to ask if she didn't order it iced, but was met with great difficulty. No offer to remake it or a kind statement that it was marked as hot. She was sassed by the barista and then when she asked for a cup of ice they told her everything would curdle. This is *true* but I just feel they could have still gave her the ice after the warning or remake the drink? Idk if that's unreasonable but just a thought esp with how they were helpful with my dad's order. 4. I had a bite of the almond croissant and I wasn't a fan of the filling. It's almond but it's got like a lemony taste to it that I'm not into personally. read more

Love the set up at Verve's roastery in Santa Cruz. The counter is in a well-ventilated, nearly outdoor space and offers a very wide assortment of coffee drinks and a few food items (skewing towards breakfast). I went pretty basic and ordered a decaf espresso (all shots are doubles). The coffee was very bright and had a great crema. There are lots of nice, well-spaced tables and benches outside, and you are only a couple minutes drive from Seabright beach. I got the latte and WOW, I think that was the best latte I have ever had. I believe the barista told me it was a caramley vanilla flavor - it was their standard latte flavor. Verve's flagship roastery! Been wanting to check this place off my list for so so long. Went here on a bright morning after a sodding wet stormy Christmas day, and my, did the sun come out. Or maybe it was my coffee induced euphoria. Either way, Verve's cafe in the Seabright neighborhood of SC is not to be missed (yes their seabright blend is named after the beach!) Small and quaint, but this is one you want to see for a sneak peak at their roasting facility. They also have a great collection of single origins, blends, and other drinks you to try. My faves are the to go instant blends i can use on days when I'm feeling super lazy, but still want my craft coffee. I got a single origin jose guzman by the cup, and my fellow traveler got a cappucino. We loved what we got, no surprises there obviously, and also shared a molasses and chocolate cookie, in what can only be described as an unhealthy and fulfilling breakfast. The outlet is tiny, but has little tables in its yard, along with benches, so you can bask in the sun with your coffee. They also have a small collection of pastries (their usual, from Manresa Bread). If you want a cute cafe where you can sit for hours and read indoors, and get some nosh occasionally, I'd steer you toward their bigger cafe on Pacific Ave in downtown SC, but this is one for the enthusiasts, and possibly for the gram ;) read more

Hard to find! Map location was wrong (I'll try to fix it). What a neat place though. Lots of room for roasting. The shop itself is basically outside. So we went on a cold day and did not hang out. We took our coffees to go. I loved the look of the place. Super industrial. Service was prompt. They have a selection of milks- almond, coconut, hemp, soy and regular milk. I had a latte and it was just what I needed. I also grabbed a couple bags of their freshly roasted coffee. They roast it right there on premises. So cool. Hey had some cute merchandise- mugs, travel mugs, t shirts etc. menu is easy to see and read, right on the wall. Seating is limited and I'm not sure if they have a public restroom. Parking is on the street, seemed ok since it wasn't that busy when we arrived. Recommend a visit. Not sure if they do tours? read more
