If you're going to a Verve, definitely go to that one. This one's less busy and safe to say I understand why now... also matcha lovers beware!!! A small matcha with nondairy milk comes out to be an upwards of ten dollars and has zero matcha taste to it. It genuinely tasted like they poured milk in a cup and then added a drop of green food coloring to it. I recommend cat and cloud one street over! Came here on a Sunday evening and loved that it was open late, especially rare for a coffee shop and on a sunday. I had a hot chocolate, flavor was rich and was piled with whipping cream, exactly what I was craving. The inside is gorgeous. There were lots of plants, cozy lighting, and the perfect ambiance for work, studying, or just reading a book. Staff was super friendly too. Parking is difficult here. Friendly staff. Theres a parking lot on the side and 3 compact parking spots directly in front. I tried their seasonal pumpkin spice latte with oat milk and it did not disappoint! I didn't have to add any additional sugar but they have sugar in the raw at the counter if you need to adjust your drink. I appreciate the little foam heart they made on the drink. I've lived in Santa Cruz for over 20 years, and this Verve location has always been one of my favorite coffee shops in town. The staff has consistently been friendly and welcoming. One of the things I actually love most about this location is that the baristas always seem like they're having fun and enjoying being there. This space has such a positive atmosphere and the workers always being giddy behind the bar make the space even better! They've also always been incredibly sweet to my daughter whenever we come in. I obviously can't speak to someone else's experience, but I really doubt anyone was laughing at you personally, it very easily could have just been an unrelated conversation happening behind the counter. I've only ever had positive experiences here and think the staff deserves some credit for creating such a joyful environment in a world where we are often told not to! read more

Good vibes and coffee perfection all around at this Verve location! I was shocked that I hadn't already written a stellar review for them as I have for other Verve cafes. Well there's no time like the present, especially when it's New Year's Day! Big thanks to the ladies working on this holiday so that everyone could start 2025 with that special *insert coffee drink of choice* (and for some maybe help cure NYE hangovers!). I wished that I would have gotten names, but let's just say that all 3 women working around 1pm on 1/1/25 were so friendly, personable and made us feel like valued customers. Thank you! :) Not only did we get our perfectly rich, bold & balanced lattes, but we picked up some Dwell filters for the new DwellxVerve Dripper Kit that I got my husband for one of his Christmas gifts. I also asked about their eco-friendly Terracotta Cups, which are these great little cups that are reusable, plastic-free, and after a certain number of uses can be disposed of, at which point they'll basically decompose naturally back into the earth. How great is that?! We always bring our own travel mugs for our coffees, but it's great to know that Verve is taking these innovative and environmental steps to reduce single use cups & lids. My hubby and I are regulars at Verve on 41st, but we venture to the Westside from time to time, and it had been a while since we last popped into this Verve on Fair Ave. After the awesome customer service we got today, we'll make a point to pop in more often! Was in Santa Cruz to visit my niece. While our hotel served coffee and breakfast- hotel coffee just doesn't cut it. Verve came highly recommended by my fellow Yelpers. Unfortunately I was disappointed with their customer service and coffee. The young lady at the register was not helpful or friendly at all. She shouldn't be serving customers when she can't even smile or be hospitable towards customers. We ordered the Matcha and a regular latte hot. Unfortunately the coffee flavor was underwhelming and it was served warm instead of hot. Additionally, they don't offer flavors- such as vanilla, caramel etc. We were quite disappointed with the coffee and service at Verve. read more

I also love this place other than the one in 41st Ave and this one is more spacious. I love their avocado toast! Good drinks and coffee as well. You order your food and coffee and wait for it in the pick up side. Tho parking can be limited in a very busy day. The people who work here are nice and they also have restroom inside this cafe. I visited Verve this past weekend while shopping downtown. Super cute and modern with lots of plants but without the pretentious trying way too hard vibe. Seems like it would be a great place to plug in and get some work done. The staff were pleasant, engaged and efficient. Most importantly, the cappuccino was superb. I ordered mine with oat milk as per usual and my bf ordered an almond milk latte. Nothing wild. Verve did not disappoint. It can get pretty busy during rushes, but the baristas are awesome. I've had great experiences with Isabel, and the manager Joe is so kind. Love their seasonal drinks! I enjoyed that it wasn't overly sweet or too minty like other drinks elsewhere. I hope they keep it as a permanent item! This review is for this location only Verve is one of my favorite coffee shops and I'm pleased they've kept their quality and vibe, despite growing into a chain. Having said that, this location isn't quite as Vervey as the others. The ambiance is a bit sterile and feels a bit dark. Luckily, the servers all work hard and are nice. And the coffee? It's got that signature roast with a hint of molasses and high acidity. It serves up a kick. Not for the faint of heart but I enjoy it. The bowl of soul is a go to drink -- you have a choice of decaf camomile or a caffed tea with soy or whole milk. On a recent trip, mine tasted good but wasn't hot enough. As usual, the coffee was fine. It wasn't life changing, but it was better than most of the other large chain coffee places, so it scratched the itch! The most disappointing thing was the service. From the moment we arrived (a few minutes before the doors opened, so we were the first customers of the day), the waitstaff acted completely indifferent and even irritated that we were there. I was going to chalk it up to an isolated experience, but I brought my son by an hour later and not only did we get the same attitude, they ran out of coffee and he stood there for 20 minutes waiting for them to brew a new pot (which they seemed to keep forgetting to do). Not once did anyone even wonder why he was standing there, or ask him if he'd been helped. Again, they were completely indifferent! read more

The iced mocha with whip is my go to treat, and their avocado toast with an egg is in my opinion, the most solid brunch/breakfast option in town. There's a nice outdoor seating area (benches) which is great for two people but probably not the best for a larger group. The service is always friendly and it's just a pleasant spot. I often sit here but taking to go is good too, during COVID I ordered the online pick-up option frequently which is convenient. For some reason, downtown Verve (on Pacific) is no longer good, but this one stays solid, and is part of the vibrant Fair Ave area. read more

Everyone already knows verve makes excellent coffee. That's just a given and why this lil SC establishment has expanded its reach to so many locations and cities. I wanted to leave a 5-star review for the westside location's excellent covid protocols though. The order online platform is very user friendly. When you arrive, you can skip the ordering line and go straight to the barista to let them know you're here. Masks and social distancing are enforced while inside and they're only letting a few customers in at once. My mocha was ready as scheduled and was the great quality I always expect here. The barista was friendly and helpful and the cute space was set up to make foot traffic flow as efficiently as possible. If you're on the west and looking for coffee to take for a walk by the ocean, this is an excellent choice. read more

First and foremost, the interior was so aesthetic and such an inviting atmosphere with beautiful plants hanging from the ceiling and beautiful designs all around. Good space to study/work too. Don't usually do reviews but this is a PSA. The matcha here is terrible. I thought maybe this was a one off but they actually just make consistently horrible matcha. I ordered an oat milk matcha latte. It appears they pour you a huge cup of milk throw three ice cubes in and some enough powder to make it look green. Nice ambience though. read more
