Pastries and additional drinks
Anna O.

We walked in on a beautiful Monday morning and were immediately greeted by the friendly gals working the counter, who asked if we were ready to order. The café had a happy, welcoming vibe with soft music playing in the background. I ordered a nonfat latte with a croissant. The croissant was incredibly fresh, and the coffee was strong and excellent. My husband ordered a mocha along with oatmeal and a blueberry muffin, which was warmed to perfection. We were especially pleased to see a variety of milk options available. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend this coffee shop.

Stopped by here a few years ago while visting Capitola area and htought it was fairly good, cute interior, cozy vibes, and the drinks are okay. their service was good as well.

Adorable lil coffee house with fun specialty drinks, cakes and pastries. It's on the second floor with a couple tables overlooking the rainbow house row, but the interior is also homey and pretty. Everyone's really nice and it seems to be a locals' favorite. Got the last slice of cheesecake with the Mona Lisa coffee (think it was a coconut mocha something, really good) and snagged an outdoor table, it was a great morning stop.

Great view and coffee selections including some great specialties! Super friendly staff outdoor section to sit and look at the view but limited seating there

We had a vegan oat milk cappuccino and americano at Mr. Toots Coffeehouse. It's a very cozy and cute coffee shop. And you get a beautiful view at the pretty, colorful houses on Capitola Beach! The staff was also very friendly.

We needed our caffeine fix and a bite to eat so we walked to Mr. Toots around 11am. It's a cute little coffee shop above one of the local restaurants, reached by ascending a few stairs through a very small entrance. We got a few coffees and bagels and we really wanted to love it after all the great reviews. Unfortunately, we found the barista's were a bit disinterested, the coffee was mediocre, the bagels looked like they were from Costco, and everything was overpriced. A lot of the tables seemed very old and wobbly, and there were lots of flies buzzing about. The view from their balcony was nice, but there's only room for a handful of people. It might be the right place for some as I see the potential of how it's set up, but I don't think we'll return.

Cute little shop with the best view of the Venetian style houses and the beach. This upstairs cafe has a cozy vibe. I've had their iced coffees in the past but decided to try one of their italian sodas- orange peach, it was very refreshing. They also offer homemade pastries, the carrot cake cupcake was nice and soft. Service was friendly and quick. The single restroom is also clean.

Americano with a great view

Me and daughter 2 had a nice stroll in capitola and decided to stop for coffee . Americano was ok and daughter got their cold honey latte which she gave 4 stars . The little porch they have there is great to sit around and enjoy the ocean views !

Very cute place, kind of small but worth the squeezing in if they're busy. So many options, even for danishes/sweet treats/small breakfast items. Super friendly staff and I loved how they explained exactly what we were ordering. Homemade whipped cream was definitely the cherry on top! My recommendation is the Coconut white chocolate mocha!

You need to enjoy their teas, coffee and baked goods to be sure. What you really need to do is meet the Barista that was serving all of these fine features. She's amazing. She also did it alone! This woman can handle a steady stream of customers, engage in charming conversations and ENJOY all of it simultaneously. As an added bonus, you can select from books that are stocked for your reading pleasure, play a table game or just sit out and watch the beachcombers playing outside of the deck. They could use a little more space, but that just might ruin the vibe. You get energized by more than the coffee and cookies at a place like this. =)

I needed a sugary coffee to wake me up but they don't seem to have any blended drinks so I opted for an iced latte. The place is cute, and hidden. I would have missed it if someone didn't point it out. A nice place for chilling and drinking coffee or have some desert.

Excellent coffee shop located above Margaritaville in the lovely Capitola Village. Ample seating space inside, and a small balcony overlooking the colorful village. I ordered an iced latte, and it was perfect. There was a long list of baked goods and drink options. Service was fast, and the cashier was friendly.

Mr Toots is one of my two favorite coffeehouses in the Santa Cruz county, and that says a lot because I have been to hundreds! Okay not really hundreds, but it feels that way. Mr Toots is definitely the most charming and unique of the all. When I have out-of-town visitors, this is the coffeehouse I take them to. The baristas are extremely friendly, like I've walked into their kitchen and they're making me a drink or telling me about the latest cake. The place has couches and comfy seating. There are furniture cases of jewelry from local artists and cute little fun thingamabobs to buy and look at, like stickers and clever signs, on counters and walls everywhere you look. There are even books on bookshelves and games. You'll find college students studying, professionals on laptops, families with young children and people with their dogs. It's a very eclectic place with eclectic people. There's a small deck that looks out at the famous houses at the Capitola beach (see photo). There are only 3 or so small tables there so more often than not, they will be occupied, however it is still worth a peek at the view. It is so pretty! I love it here and can't say enough great things about it.

The employee said "I just need to know if you're planning on buying something or just here to use the restroom . I honestly had no idea this place was here... and with bagels! I don't get bagels locally because, well, just because. I happily ordered us coffee and bagels. Now, bear in mind, we roast our own coffee, so to us, the coffee was on the "good" side of Ok. The bagels, on the other hand, were delicious! And boy, do they pack on the cream cheese (maybe enough for 3 bagels depending on one's preference)! Service was friendly and fast. And all the people coming and going were very pleasant - there were plenty of them. The sitting area outside next to the road is pretty small (next to a dumpster, I think), and my guy was having some mobility challenges (on crutches, etc.). Folks in the neighboring table were so kind and accommodating, voluntarily standing up so that he could maneuver into a seat. We went back the following week (yes, another medical appt), and this time they were out of the bagels we wanted, so note to self... get there early if you want a favorite bagel. We will definitely be back to Firefly for the bagels! Have I said "bagels" enough times already?

You can always appreciate the laid-back being anywhere in Santa Cruz or Capitola. They are right on a main street with parking in the back and they have a cute outside seating area with chairs and umbrellas. It's a pretty large and nice size coffee shop with ample seating and an extended couch/booth area. They have a lot of outlets to do work quietly or to read or charge your phone. I really like that they close at 6 PM too a lot of coffee shops close at three or four. If you're here long enough and haven't eaten, they sell food and snacks. Also a pretty good option of beverages like coconut water, soda, waters, and smoothies, or plain sodas. You can come in and get a soup or some cookies, a protein bar, or, some bagels- they legit have it all. I haven't tried anything food or coffee wise, but my Italian soda is pretty delicious. The two cashiers were really nice and everyone just seems to be on the best chill vibes. I will definitely save this place and return in the future. Their specialty coffees look delicious and are just my vibe and I can't wait to try them when the weather gets colder.
