This studio has such a rigorous and thorough acting program. I have loved all of my classes and teachers but just finished Improv with Navaris Darson which is what inspired me to finally write a review. Navaris is fun, fresh, brilliant, and caring. Like all of the other teachers, he has an impressive resume. He is a member of The Groundlings and teaches a really unique style of Improv with such a commitment to helping each of us grow. I LOVED the Improv Fundamentals class that I recently took with Navaris Darson as a coach. My goodness. I looked forward to every class, and smiled so much my face hurt. I learned more in those 4 weeks about comedy, than I have so far in my career. It was a wealth of information, and I felt grateful to be receiving it. The ways in which Navaris had us apply the techniques in game after game, and exercise after exercise was so smart and effective. He's a patient, kind, intelligent, and empowering coach. He held us to a high standard so we could get the most out of this course, and we all saw each other grow exponentially in such a short amount of time. I was in Amanda's weekly scene study class for about 8 years. I cannot recommend this class highly enough if you want to be a working actor or just hone your craft. It gives you the opportunity to partner with another actor and work a scene from a play, complete with staging and a set. Amanda then gives direct feedback and you do your best to make adjustments and apply them on the spot. This is invaluable experience for when you are on a set or in a play because it develops flexibility and ability to take direction. Her class allowed me to make all the common actor mistakes and work through them in a safe setting. Amanda fosters a safe collaborative setting where the actors learn not only from their own work, but also from the critiques they watch other actors receive. From the start, Amanda was incredibly helpful - even before I signed up for the class. She personally reached out to me after I got stopped in the middle of the enrollment process, and I was able to register for Verve's Intro to Voice Over course with Gene. The course was very informative - I had always wanted to learn more about voice over and this was an excellent beginner's course. I signed my 11-year-old son up to Verve's weeklong film acting class. Each day after class I picked him up and asked, "how did it go?" Each day he said, "It was fun and that he liked it." When I probed a little more, he said that he felt he was learning how to act. I loved hearing that. I also loved the professional approach the studio took to create an environment that modeled a real working one - one where the actor is paid. I was traveling in Arizona and had checked out of the airbnb and was leaving on a late flight when I received a two-scene theatrical audition due the next morning so I had to scramble to find a self-tape studio. I was so pleasantly surprised to find a couple but I chose this studio over the other and was glad that I did. The prices were fairer and the whole set up was professional and ready to go. They clearly stated what the prices were with and without coaching and said they had two different backdrops. They also had a variety of times you could book. Very fairly priced. I felt confident going in and I was not disappointed. The studio was 100% professional, lighting was great and was already set up. They had a screen that you could easily watch playback. Just perfect setup! I met the owner and my coach Ashley and they were friendly and welcoming. They even let me pay to tack on an extra 15 minutes so I can give the last scene some more time. Coaching is more feedback as opposed to acting coaching but it was helpful nonetheless and I was just so grateful to find them! I wished I could have stayed longer to get to know the studio a bit more but I was basically off to the airport after. Thank you! I will definitely go there again! read more

I took two workshops with Amanda last summer when I was just starting my career as an actor. It really helped me so much, especially being so new to acting on film. I still use many of the techniques she showed me. What helped me the most was also the part I hated the most and that was watching back our recorded performances in class.
