I was in the store today for a good 30' period waiting to have a look at couple bags in the showcase, but I guess I wasn't dressed in fancy attire according to the staff's standards? I had no idea I needed to dress a certain way to go shopping. I never encountered such ignorance at any other store in our fine city or any other city for that matter. I brought 5 very expensive items into Vespucci. Two weeks later I called regarding my items. One sequence gown, worn once, purchased for $400, sold and I will receive $13.75. ??? Other items consigned, that had not sold, I let them know I would pick them up that day, and was told: 1) I couldn't pick them up that day, as administrative work had to be done first and someone would call me in about 4 business days. 2) I would have to pay $75.00 to get my items back. I AM PAYING THEM TO GET MY OWN CLOTHES BACK??? UNHEARD OF. NO CONSIGNMENT STORE HAS EVER CHARGED SOMEONE TO GET THEIR OWN CLOTHES BACK! I was not going to allow them to sell my daughter's Italian designer shoes, "Gianvito Rossi" Milano, blue suede, high heel pumps, worn once, cost $600 USD and receive $40 for them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TAKE THEIR CLOTHES TO THIS CONSIGNMENT STORE. When I first went there 2 wks ago, it took them 15 minutes to do paper work, so I walked around the store and everything was jammed packed. They never told me what they were pricing my items at, as they said they have to determine pricing. That should have been my first warning. I took quick photos before I left my items. I just called the store to find out about an item I consigned back in October 2021 with their store. It is a pristine Roberto Cavalli winter wool 3/4 length coat which I bought for $1200. I was just informed that they proceeded to sell for $27 at a 90% discount... I was shocked, angry and very disappointed. They told me that it is up to me to stay in touch every few months which by calling today is 4 months. But I did go in to check on both items I consigned in January. There was no mention of my coat destined to be liquidated otherwise I would have insisted they return it to me immediately. Do not consign any item with this shop unless you have a reserve price otherwise they will disregard any smart business practice and liquidate your consigned items. What a joke. Upon entering I couldn't believe my eyes, first of all the architecture of the building is 1970s and so is the furniture and the interior decor, so it gives it a nice circa feel. The employees are dressed quite chic, like something out of a 1970s Vogue, or more like Jacqueline Kennedy look a likes. Vespucci has been around for 20 years and carries all designer labels, Prada, Gucci, Coach just to name a few, and it not only carries clothing but also jewellery, shoes, handbags and evening gowns. The beauty about this store is that is color coded you pick up a blue dress and you look above and there are matching handbags, below matching shoes. It's shopaholicly dreamy. I love this place and would go here all the time but the parking lot is so small that it is taking me away from shopping here. I can never find a parking spot and usually have to park in the back alley behind and walk around to the front and then I don't have a good shopping experience because I am worried about my car. I do know that Rachel Notley shops here though as two times that I have been here, she has also been here which takes up a lot of parking as once when I was here she had 4 black escalades outside waiting for her and with the parking lot the size it is- it basically took up all the spots. However, the second time I saw her she only had two with her. There was another time that I managed to find a spot in the parking lot and someone else came and there was no spots for them so they pulled up along the sidewalk and parked there car there in the parking lot and again.. with the parking lot the size it is that didn't work. No one could come in or out to move around the car and I couldn't back out. I don't really like there payment policy but from a business standpoint I see how it works with making money. I do prefer Plato's closet to this place as it is just too big and takes way to long. read more

I had heard great things about this place, so I headed on down to check it out. This place is really large for a consignment store, I'd say it's probably as large as the Value Village in the Northeast (maybe larger.) The items are well organized by colour and type, the only thing I wish they would do is group by size. All of the sizes are mixed in randomly, so I find myself browsing through really pretty things that aren't even close to my size, d'oh. The prices are pretty good and with their sales they are even better. You'll probably never find high-end designer stuff for 12.99 like you can sometimes find at thrift stores, but you'll definitely get a good deal. Their regular brand clothes are all priced nice as well. I didn't notice any fakes like East Bay Mom saw, but with this much inventory it's a possibility. Just remember to check things like labels, fabric quality and stitching/construction quality and you should be ok. The staff are helpful and attentive, but aren't aggressive which is awesome. Before my first trip to Vespucci, I've never entered a consignment store with the intent to shop for clothing (only accessories and house junk). A few days ago, my mother and I decided that we were fed up with shopping in malls and Winners so I did some online research and discovered Vespucci. In the past, my parents have shopped at Value Village for "farm clothes" but never for nice clothing. We never thought that places like Vespucci existed, actually! We went today expecting to just browse around and not really find much (we figured the rumors were too good to be true). Four hours and six hundred dollars later, we left quite happy and had huge bag of clothing for both of us! Yippee! I am so glad that I will likely not shop at a mall again! Other points: - Staff was pleasant and helpful - No funny "Value Village" smell - Lighting was good so no eye strain - Great organization (by color and clothing type) - Mostly name brand clothing with some designer stuff mixed in - Fitting rooms were roomy and plenty of space to hang clothing from - Clothing was all in gently worn or brand new shape - Location was easy to drive to We will be shopping at Vespucci again and again. I am planning on taking some items in for consignment, so I will see how that goes and update here. read more

Another excellent shopping adventure at Vespucci. I have been shopping here for more than 20 years, and have bought prom dresses, business suits, yoga pants and jewelry, evening wear, many shoes, all high quality and well priced....This visit I found the Gucci "oil slick" patent handbag of my dreams for a rock bottom price... I have always found the staff helpful and the merchandise well displayed; I like the divisions into colour as opposed to size, as size is not at all consistent in female fashion. These guys ONLY lose a star because it's a bit hard to find clothing for larger sized people! Most of the stuff in here is for skinny minnies. I'm only a size 12 dress and my life can be a bit difficult when shopping here OR at the High River Location. Otherwise? Wow. The selection is amazing and I always shop here for fun or for my business attire! I keep this place a bit of a secret from others, though, because I'll admit I'm a bit selfish and I don't want a bunch of people overrunning the place and picking all the great stuff over, hahaha! Their prices are ridiculously good when you consider the types of designer and brand names they carry! I honest to everything you could consider holy, got a 750$ pair of Dolce and Gabbana heels for 85$ a couple weeks ago. And that was without the sales - and when they have a sale, they have a sale. I've seen up to 70% off on some very high end things. The store is really overwhelming the first time you come here, though! It's HUGE. Like, a third of a Costco huge. And 80% of it is for clothing! They have a pretty cute selection of purses, wallets, and accessories as well! And there are shoes everywhere. They carry things like coats and jackets as well, so they also cater to outerwear, and on the second floor (which is quite small) they have a decent selection of formal attire. (Be warned! The vast majority of it is only worth looking at if you're a size 0-6 in dresses! A lot of the larger pieces are very tacky or just pain nonexistant. And when I say tacky, I'm talking like, really bad chick flick, Bride actually hates all the Bridesmaids so she puts them in ugly dresses so she looks like the Cream of the Crop tacky.) Otherwise though? Oh my gosh this store. I have actually lost my ability to react any better to this place than I already do. Worth the visit! Just be ready to look for parking, the lot is quite small and can fill up quickly! Expect to spend a LOT of time here if you go! read more

My first visit to Vespucci was wonderful! It was a bit overwhelming at first... aisles and aisles of clothes organized by type (tops, jeans, suits, high-end designer wear) then by colour, then by size. They also carry shoes, sunglasses, purses, jewelry. We were probably in there for at least 2 hours, a few trips to the fittings rooms, but alas nothing was just right. While searching through the racks, I saw some wonderful items such as a gorgeous Vera Wang dress, Dolce & Gabanna white dress, and a cute pink skirt, a classic Burberry rain coat, and so much more!! The shoes... oh my! Fendi, Prada, Marc Jacobs, Manolo Blahnik, and more! Only thing was there was a pair of hot pink Louboutins that looked a little strange to be "New", looked like they may have been re-soled or rip-offs. After hours of going through the store, and going through the high-end designer wear rack at least 3 times, I found the piece that had to come home with me... a white Burberry cotton jacket, perfect for the spring!! Yes, it's used, a little worn with a few stray threads and a little bit of pilling, but no rips, stains, and all the buttons and zippers are there. Overall, with their 20% off promotion, I paid less than 25% of the original cost! A very comparable price to regular clothing stores, and a worthwhile investment for a piece I'll probably wear to death. This is going to be a new regular place for me to visit. Its one where you'll have to keep an eye out and hopefully get lucky in finding the perfect piece in the right size. (Don't you dare touch any size 10 shoes until I try them on) Lucky us, with Burberry now open in Calgary, maybe we'll benefit through the consignment stores :) read more

Upon your first visit, you may feel overwhelmed when you walk in the door, because I certainly did. Shopping at Vespucci is like hunting for treasures. The ladies behind the counter all know my Mom by name, or by her nickname, "The Purse Lady." She generally calls ahead or gets her name put on a list if certain brands come in. As for me; I've occasionally found one-of-a-kind party dresses, sweaters and jewelry. It's made me able to appreciate the quality of a well-made designer piece without having to sell internal organs on E-bay. I've also gone here a couple of times with a five year-old in tow, and they've got a table with toys and magazines to occupy her time so I may shop in peace. read more

I will echo the horrible customer service mentioned in several reviews here. On my most recent visit, I found an item I wanted to purchase and walked up to the till, where two cashiers were ringing up two transactions. As one of the purchasers finished and walked out, that cashier looked at me (and the one item I was about to purchase) and proceeded to wander over to the fitting room to have a casual chat with the fitting room attendant. As another customer lined up behind me (with several items in hand), the cashier looked at her, greeted her by name, and said "I can take you over on the other till." I informed the cashier that I was next in line, at which point she rang up my purchase without a word. The merchandise is way overpriced for a consignment store (i.e. 60-70% of the original retail price compared to 30-50% for other consignment stores in town), and neither the selection nor the condition of the merchandise justifies this. On my last visit, I found five items to try on, and upon closer inspection in the fitting rooms, 4 of the 5 had noticeable stains, rips, sticky zippers, etc. It's worth it to pop in twice a year when seasonal merchandise is discounted by 80-90%, but otherwise I avoid this place. read more

I shop here all the time but recently I haven't had that great service I'm used to. It actually doesn't make it enjoyable to shop there. The staff is wonderful except for one lady that seems to now run the show and is very outspoken. It's painful to pay for things when you can't get a smile or a simple thank you. I really want to caution people against going to Vespucci's. Here is how my day played out with them. When I decided against leaving my stuff with them due to the horrible customer service the one lady wouldn't let me leave.A different staff asked how they could have handled the transaction better I started to tell them then the original lady interrupted me, and trapped me in the back area. Seriously she had her hands on my stuff and wouldnt move out of my way. As I started to panic I pushed passed. When I called the store manager to give her feed back she excused the behavior and talked over me. SHE THEN GAVE MY PHONE NUMBER TO THE STAFF THAT TRAPPED ME WHAT RIGHT DO YOU GIVE TO GIVE MY PHONE NUMBER OUT. STAY away from this store they do not understand what professionalism means. read more

Just dropped by quickly about 20 mins before closing, I was well aware of their closing time, but wanted a look without trying anything on, to either follow up later or forget it. Good thing I went in at that time, because I got to see what the staff was like. First the "look" from the behind the counter person, as she did not say hello and welcome, but gasped at the idea that someone unsuitable, ie not one of their skinny regulars, would come in at such an hour. We assured her that yes, we knew (A) what time it was, and (B) that they closed in under 1/2 hour. After that we had 2 more people say in a patronizing tone - "do you know what time it is?" or "you know, we close in 15 minutes", to both, we gave the same answer, although the third one got cut off before she could finish saying her bit. Maybe there's a staff competition. Do you seriously think that women in Calgary don't know what closing time is? Do you really think I was dying to buy that stuff? To quote Edwina in AbFab "You only work in a shop you know, you can drop the attitude." After those unfriendly questions from the staff, we heard one of the preppy blonde customers who obviously was one of the charmed circle, ask "Is it too late for me to try this on?", and was assured that "no - of course not". Strangely, no reminder of the extremely late hour for her. Dear staff - sales lesson; you have no idea how much money I have. You have no idea whether she is in hock up to her eyeballs. To the merchandise. The racks are packed, but not much jumped out at me. Dull colours prevailed, probably because textiles only have a certain lifetime, and the life goes out of used textiles eventually. For some strange reason they don't have a size posted that's bigger than L, no XL are allowed to be visible? we're a quality skinny store here, you have to look as much like a castoff-fashion maven as possible to even come in here. The XLs are there, but they're mixed in with the L's. The overall impression was that it was definitely used, some of it looked fairly new or well kept, and most of it was *way* overpriced. Too much limp fabric, and really - a name brand doesn't make something that can be destroyed very easily, and is nearing the end of its life, become suddenly valuable. That only happens if it belonged to Royalty, and it's 400 years old. I also am aware that people will buy consignment clothing, and return it to consignment when they're done - so that bothers me. Like a used book store. Jackets and coats - couple of tweed blazers that looked like they were once nice, but now a wee bit too limp. Very overpriced puffy coats. Like $500. I called once to see about consigning clothes, and was told, without an ask as to what I had - that we're "full", don't even bother. So where do they get their clothes from, Winners? A pair of Jimmy Choo shoes for almost $300, worn by someone else ew, I do not need, neither does anyone else. Ridiculous prices for disposable materials. They're SHOES. If the attitude wasn't so snotty -- I might have gone back to dig through it more, but honestly I doubt it. Even without the lack of courtesy, it is still a very underwhelming store. I've only brought my clothing and accessories here to consign and haven't had a chance to actually browse the inventory. My first time bringing in stuff was a little confusing but eventually I got sorted out. They give you an account number and the intake staff inspect the items and will let you know if they don't accept something. Once they know what they're taking they tag it and you leave. For higher end items Jane inspects it in their office and calls you a few days later to let you know how much she will sell it for. These items pay 50% as opposed to 40% for all other items since they fetch a far greater price. Some of the ladies don't recognize the designer items and as such it's better to have Jane know you're dropping them off. They only accept summer items from late winter and winter items at the end of summer. If you're looking to purge your wardrobe, make sure you bring your stuff here if it is gently used. They don't accept low end items such as Forever XXI, Suzy Shier, etc. Also you must have all items on a hanger when you drop it off. read more

I heard two sales associates complaining loudly in the aisle about how they "...hate organizing the racks because customers just ruin it anyway" and wondering "why people would spend Family Day shopping". I receive sub-par service, meaning that I typically have to seek out sales associates to help me get a fitting room, they never follow up to ask if they can help with anything, and they're usually too busy talking to their colleagues than with the clients. Today, for example, I spent about 5 minutes standing by the fitting rooms wanting to try on a few dresses. There were a few sales associates chatting nearby and didn't pay any attention. Going to Vespucci is like a treasure hunt. When you walk in it is a huge room full of racks on racks on racks of clothes and the walls lined with shoes. It is definitely overwhelming at first and you really have to be in the right mood to spend hours there and really hunt for deals. Sometimes it is very worth the trip and you find some killer deals and really unique pieces. On the other hand I have also found some of the ugliest things I have ever seen in my entire life. The prices are all over the place as they carry very high end brands like Chanel, Jimmy Choo, YSL, etc.. as well as lower end more affordable everyday brands. It is the perfect place for any fashionista who wants to find one of a kind vintage pieces that will make a statement. read more

As if they forgot they were a "second hand" store.Everything I had was to this , to that or not enough or just... not new! They want the purse you bought yesterday for 5000$ (with the price tag if possible) , they'll sell it for 4500$, give you a ridiculous amount to then turn around and buy that same expensive purse,brand new, and feel better with themselves thinking they don't have to shop in second hand stores...LOL! I absolutely love the product the store has I always always leave with something. The downside...one of the managers there is horrid. She was so pissed off that I found many things to try on. I'm sorry do you not want business? I overheard her say "people are crazy" "tell her to take some items out I don't want to be putting this shit away all night" as a manager I found her extremely unpleasant and quite honestly a bitch. I felt so uncomfortable I didn't even want to buy anything or try anything on. I had a lot of my clothes stolen so I was looking for a new wardrobe and she made me feel very unwelcome and like I inconvenienced her. I have been shopping at Vespucci for about as long as it's been in Calgary in its various iterations. This goes back at least 30 years. The last two times I've been have been a huge disappointment. They have eliminated the sizing tags on the hangars and now I find it next to impossible to find anything in my size. It used to be so easy; color coded, coded by size and coded by garment style i.e dresses, pants, shirts, suits, etc. The sales lady told me that they little round tags kept falling on the floor so they did away with them. Funny I never noticed that before. Sounds to me they are more interested in their convenience than that of the customer. Sorry, I'm just not interested in spending hours in this store going through each item. I used to walk down the rack until I came to the tags which I thought would be my size. Easy Peasy. Please fix it guys. I live within walking distance of this store and I'll pop in again at some point but as I did yesterday, I'll just leave again if this isn't fixed. And while you're at it, do something about sizing for boots and shoes. It's all very confusing. read more

When moving up here from San Francisco, I was bummed as finding designer goods is hard pressed unless you go to a place like "Holt Renfrew" and spend $$$$. But I found this fabulous consignment store. They carry the nicest high end designers like Jimmy Choo, Chanel, Burberry in all of Calgary. It is expensive for used (my days of finding Jimmy Choo for under $50.00 is only at SF so I will have to wait for when I go back) but still 1/2 of retail. I would caution you that you need to know your designers well as I spotted a few fakes that were priced as the real thing and the sales people really don't know the difference. They really need to be educated on how to spot fakes (aka go to purse forum, Carol Ives) and get items authenticated. I have picked up great finds like Marc Jacobs, Chanel, and fabulous Chloe. I have started consigning a few things but honestly I make more money selling items myself on Ebay so I reserve my top $$ designer items for that. read more

I love consignment shopping and have been to many of the smaller shops in calgary. Vespucci is great if you like to dig through lots of clothes - value village style. It is huge. Beyond the size and.volume of clothes it is actually the worst consignment store I have been to in Calgary. Many of the clothes are years old despite a 'policy' that they only accept clothes that are 2 years old or newer. I have been there four times (yes I tried to like it) and each time I was shocked at the age of some of the designer clothes (some labels at least a decade old). The other disappointing thing is that the store is incredibly over priced. Anyone who has been there will see all price tags list the original retail price to try and justify their prices. The original retail price might mean something if the clothes were new - but they are used! I understand using this price as a gage for setting your prices, but it's insulting to you customers (not to mention they don't account for inflation on the old clothes they try and sell). Overall I would say don't waste your time digging through their junk. There are many smaller shops that have great clothes and much more reasonable prices for high end designer clothes.
