There is a small café area at the front where I love to bag a booth, and sit with a coffee/tea and a book, to while some hours away until a friend comes to join and share a cake (the tiramisu is particularly excellent). At the back there is a much more formal restaurant area that buzzes by night and is surprisingly grand for its price. This is where Caravaggio most excels; its value - a main course averages at about £5 and the portions are huge. A starter would be enough for some. And a coffee is only £1 - amazing compared to the coffee chains. So yes, I love Caravaggios. I can't recommend it enough. It's good-looking and quality enough for any type of social setting from family meal to first date, and at the same time cheap enough for those on a budget. A wonderful addition to Camberwell Church Street for sure. Charming I think is the best word.

Friendly staff make the evening pleasant and the soft background opera music complements an all round evening. Surprisingly, the selection of pizza is on the low side, but it is easily made up by the desserts which are indeed a treat, try the cheesecake or the tiramisu. Carvaggio's is a good excuse to stay away from the stove for an evening, and to have a coffee stop in the afternoon.
