I've been to Vesuvio's a bunch of times but this time was horrible. I usually like the Stromboli and even commented to the waitress that I really love it and we'd like to order it again. The lady, as usual, was very nice but the atmosphere was questionable as 'Leprechaun' was playing on the TV (a slash and dash horror movie) and 4 working class men at the bar which is fine but they were loud and they sat us right next to them when the whole place was empty. For those that say, 'I should have asked' is a kin to me having to ask for good service. I won't 'ask' for good service. If i have to ask it's already a negative experience. The Stromboli was impossible to cut and lacked in cheese. I had one good bite on my half (my wife and I shared). Good portion... of very poor stromboli. I will not be going there again unfortunately. Not worth the risk any longer with prices as they are. Sweet tea was good though. That night my wife and I had a small tiff about picking a dive for our 'date'. Not making this mistake again. Need consistent food quality and atmosphere. read more

Best salad bar since The Peddler closed. Nice customer service. The staff is always friendly and they have Bleu Cheese dressing.

Food was very good! Meal comes with a choice of salad bar or garlic bread. I had my favorite, Chicken Saltimbocca. My husband had Chicken Marsala. Lunch portions were huge. I couldn't begin to eat it all and lunch is only $9.95, which included a drink. Wish it were close to home... I do stop here anytime I'm in the area. read more

Very good food, and even though they indicated a side salad on the menu, they wound having a salad bar with good size, plates, and lots of desirable things in it --even if simple, it was great. Location was good. Same mall as Walmart just south of town on US 501. I got a seafood enchilada that was smothered in hot gooey cheese. my dining partner got a gluten-free pasta with meat and the portion was so big it couldn't be finished. Both were delicious. on the other hand, the booth nearest the front had a big rip on the seat yet they seated us there. And by sitting right near the front, we got to hear lots of staff conversations we really didn't want to hear. Consider, Vesuvio, seating the first to arrive further away from your counter, and make that booth with the seats your last priority. Sorry no photos. Once went here with my family; the food was mediocre, and my great-grandpa had steel wool in his spaghetti. The people seemed only kind of sorry and did not care much. It was very loud and took a while for food. read more

Excellent service. Seems family oriented. Waitress was a doll. Ate my pizza in 2 mins 34 seconds. My family destroyed their food and i now feel morbidly obese in a good way. Run of the mill almost Italian. They are at least consistent. Subs and pasta. Sometimes attracts loud obnoxious locals to the bar that they don't seem to be able to manage. read more

Just ordered a carry out supper. They don't stand behind quality of the food or fix the order they made wrong. Got charged for shrimp scampi and got a cheap pasta meal instead. Cheese fries were made with the wrong cheese and were dried out and hard. The chicken in Chicken parmesan sub was super thin, and tasted like it was reheated leftovers from lunch. Went in tonight for take out. Everyone was friendly and kind. The restaurant is adorable and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I had heard great things about the food from my neighbor (we are new to the area) the lasagna was AMAZING! So so good! My daughter had the boneless wings, she really enjoyed. Wow. Came her because the locals said it was good. Got the chicken Marsala... Uh... Tasted and looked like chunky chicken soup with Marsala added. Not impressed with anything. Building smelled like grey water, coke machine broken, salad bar was pathetic. I will not be back. read more

Well.....I had a hair in my meal. Yuk!!! Service wasn't that great. Plenty of parking! My husband food was mediocre he said, minus a hair in his....the waitress was very apologetic and took my meal off the ticket to take care of it. Can you give less than one star!??? The marinara?...canned. The garlic bread...cooked correctly but strong on the garlic...powdered. the soup...grilled chicken, some spaghetti, canned broth, and salt. Mostly salt! Believe it or not that is their version of chicken soup. The draft beer special was 99 cents. Maybe that's how they get away with the food that way. Maybe it was a bad night, but on everything!?? Maybe their pizza is good??? The waitress was attentive and pleasant. That's how they got at least one star. read more

Decent Italian fare in Roxboro. I've only gotten take out here, but it hasn't ever disappointed. We aren't talking Eataly-quality cuisine, but for American protein-and-pasta, it fits the bill. The sauces are pretty run of the mill, but they you can get a marinara or a meat sauce, or a vodka sauce (depending on the pasta). My favorite- get the gnocchi with a meat sauce. The salad is a typical iceburg/cherry tomato sampler, and the dressings seem to be mostly pre-made offerings. The location on 15-501 is closed Mondays, but the location across from the courthouse is open 7 days a week. read more

After a hard days work, I decided to tempt my taste buds with a Vesuvio's Pizza so I called in for a pick up. The people were very friendly and the restaurant looked nice and clean when I walked in. I'd say the pizza was decent, not really memorable, and I dont feel I need to rush back for another soon. Since then I've had another local pizza joint and it'll probably take priority over Vesuvio's when I need a pie. read more

third trip to this great restaurant , first time ordering the lasagna - not a fan of the lasagna so my friend and I did not eat more than a few bites-we did have drinks and the salad bar. Our great server told someone in charge ( shame on me for not asking their names ) and he came to the table and told us we did not have to pay a thing! We were at Food Lion picking groceries for our weekend at a nearby lake AirBnB and were hankering for some pizza. We asked the staff about the best pizza in town. Our cashier said "Vesuvio's is always good" so we called in a take-out order for a pizza and salad. The staff said it would be 20-25 minutes. We drove over and I went in while my wife stayed in the car. I figured we had 15 minutes to wait. The staff was friendly, the place was packed, and the pizza was out in five minutes. We decided to treat ourselves to a New Years dinner and went to Vesuvius' restaurant for the first time. The pizza was the most perfectly layered pizza I've ever eaten, with green peppers and onions cooked al dente and richly covered in a delicious cheese and tomato sauce. Our server was Amanda who bubbled over with sweetness every time she checked on us. They seated us far away from others. A lovely getaway! We'll be back! read more

I hate to badmouth any restaurant because I know it's a tough business to be in. I ate here about 3 years ago and it was below average and they ran out of their salad bar fix ins' and they brought me a $3.50 house salad which looked like it might go on top of a burger. The Italian combo sub was boring but not cheap. You can do a lot better at the Food Lion deli with a pre-wrapped job. So, two weeks ago I had a good friend over for a Friday night meal of Vesuvio's chef' salad and a small cheese pizza to go. The chef salad was packed into a pint styrofoam bowl so tight you could barely fork anything out. The "house dressing' was disgraceful and was watery, had no flavor, herbs, garlic, good olive oil...seeing how Italian dressing is the easiest dressing to make...we used the oil and vinegar I had at home. Now, the small pizza we had then and the one I ordered Saturday night (XL) for another friend that was visiting from Atlanta were very average with no garlic or herbs in the pizza sauce...and this this owner's supposed be from Naples!...so he should know what tastes are what. Bland, dough was undercooked and moosh...and to top it all off, yesterday me and my friend had a terrible case of heartburn and I almost never get it...ever. So, that's my tale of woe. The next time I have company, I'm getting a Bobali shell and making a legit pizza....I'm not trying to be mean but good Italian food isn't that hard to make. read more

One of my favorite restaurants and I have gotten my husband and best friend addicted. Whether dining in or take out, food is always hot and fresh with huge portions! My only complaint is that the garlic knots they always provide look so great but literally have zero flavor- they just taste like a plain piece of white bread. Really wish they'd improve upon that but definitely not a deal breaker as the rest of the food is always so great. Also, they have that awesome restaurant ranch dressing that can be hard to find. I always make sure to get a few extra cups of it to put in the fridge for when I get a salad or something from somewhere else with less than stellar ranch dressing. I am not sure why I come back here. Haven't been in over a year and came back first week of April for supper, and things have not changed. Service is okay, nothing stellar. My fiance ordered the penne with scallops and shrimp and he could only find a couple of scallops. The seafood is consistently overcooked and so is the chicken. I ordered the marinated chicken salad and was exhausted chewing the overcooked and dry chicken. Ugh. We are spoiled by eating in Durham. We won't be back. read more
