Sendero Animal Hospital - Maddie loves Dr Mauna!

Sendero has always been so great at getting us in during all of those moments. They have been so informative and really helped me make the best decisions on food and treats and chews and all the stuff that comes along with a dog. I hadn't had a dog in quite awhile and it really helps to have some solid advice and perspective from the different doctors and techs we've seen over the course of the last two years. Each person is always so helpful from the moment we walk in and I'm truly appreciative of their care for my pup.

My dog had significant inflammation in multiple areas of his paw, including between the toes. However, the veterinarian did not examine the underside of his foot or the interdigital webbing, which is where a large portion of the problem was visible. Instead, I was immediately encouraged to proceed with a needle aspirate and cell analysis quoted at approximately $600-$700. I was uncomfortable moving forward with that without first addressing the obvious inflammation and possible infection. I was also quoted additional fees (around $65) to clean a single wound on one toe, while the rest of the paw condition was not discussed or treated. I asked for oral antibiotics and was told no he did not need them, I was prescribed one ointment called Anamax $35, even after I expressly asked for oral antibiotics she said no he did not need them, (the first thing the other hospital i.e. the second vet said, "we need to get him on oral antibiotics for six weeks as well as steroids", we started that protocol and within one day, I've seen huge improvements.) more in this,. After leaving Sendero, My dog was in so much pain, I sought care elsewhere. The second veterinarian examined the entire paw, including between the toes, and treated him with appropriate medications as mentioned above ( oral antibiotics and oral anti-inflammatory medications ). He has already shown noticeable improvement. I paid about $110 for this visit at Sendero and did not feel that my dog received a thorough evaluation or appropriate initial care. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable returning or recommending this clinic.

My regular vet recommended Ortega Animal Hospital, and my first two visits with Kayla were excellent. Unfortunately, everything since then has been a complete and frustrating failure. I scheduled my dog's grooming appointment online more than two weeks in advance. Two days before the appointment, I happened to notice it had been canceled -- with ZERO notification. No call. No text. No email. Nothing. I immediately called and was told Kayla had left and that my appointment had been moved to a new groomer. I specifically asked whether the new groomer was patient and experienced with senior dogs. I was reassured TWICE that everything was fine and that my Thursday 2:30 PM appointment was confirmed. Based on THEIR confirmation, I took half a day off work and drove 45 minutes to the hospital -- only to be told upon arrival that I did NOT have an appointment. After explaining the situation, the staff went back and forth before bringing out the manager. When I asked for her name, she initially did not provide it. I had to ask multiple times before she finally said her name was "Dubai." I even repeated it back because it did not sound right, and the interaction made me question whether I was actually being given her real name. What was most shocking was the complete lack of accountability. I was repeatedly told there was "no record," as if the inconvenience and wasted time somehow fell on me. No meaningful apology. No urgency to fix the situation. Just a dismissive and unprofessional attitude. The only options offered were: * Leave my senior dog overnight for a next-day appointment (completely unreasonable for a basic grooming)* Accept a partial discount Neither option even begins to cover the time, gas, and work I lost because of THEIR mistake. I spent roughly $40 in gas round-trip and lost half a workday for absolutely nothing. As someone who manages hair salons, I understand mistakes happen. What separates professional businesses from careless ones is how they recover. This location showed zero ownership, zero urgency, and very little respect for a client's time. And frankly -- if this is how they handle a simple grooming appointment, imagine how they would handle your pet's urgent medical needs. This is supposed to be an animal hospital. Based on this experience, I would not trust them with my pet's care at all. When problems arise, they do not take accountability. I have referred many people to this business in the past. Not anymore. Save yourself the frustration, the wasted time, and the money. Take your business elsewhere. **** Update: I just confirmed with the front desk that the manager I dealt with, Andrea, had lied about her own name, previously introducing herself as "Dubai." The fact that she lied about something as simple as her identity shows how poorly this hospital is managed, how much misinformation they give to clients, and makes me seriously question everything she told me. This is extremely concerning. Whoever is in charge, be aware that your manager Andrea is lying to customers and misrepresenting herself.

One specific incident I remember was when our Labradoodle had sneakily ingested plant food from one of our plumeria plants. It was over a weekend so we took her to the Urgent Care vet while Rancho Niguel Animal Hospital was notified. Thankfully she was ok coming out of that situation, but immediately that following Monday we received a call from RNAH asking how she was doing as they checked on her status. I found this to be very comforting and was impressed by the care and compassion we received from the team. We're now happy to start the care of our new 4-month-old Standard Poodle here and we hope to continue seeing them throughout his puppy days into adulthood. Dr. Echolds is patient, kind, and caring. This 1 star review is for the administration and front desk people. A few days ago we started our dog on an antibiotic pill. It was 3 days tops and our dog started to have a bad reaction so we called to explore an alternative option which we were told would be a $200 shot. We asked if there was a way to credit the antibiotic pill charge seeing as though he had an adverse affect and were told no, that the office manager stated that was not possible. When I asked if I could speak to the office manager I was told no. When I asked if I could speak with Dr. Pat, I was told no and that I'd have to schedule and pay for an in person consultation. I asked if he could please call me back and I was told no. I asked if there was anyone else above the front desk girl I could speak with to dispute the charge and I was told no. This is a terrible business practice and it's left such a bad impression for me. Dr. Pat is a great guy and I can't imagine that he would not allow for his customers to dispute a charge.
