    Our Lab back to normal
    Win 8.

Our experience with Dr. Craft and his staff was amazing. We were really stressed as we found out our Lab has Addison's Disease. She wouldn't eat, drink, go to the bathroom, and run. She wasn't her normal self. She's only 2yrs old and still so young. They knew exactly how to treat it and their follow up is top notch. They really went out of their way to ensure we understood the diagnosis. Our Lab has been eating, going the bathroom, drinking, and running again. Back to her normal self. We're really relieved and grateful. Dr. Craft and his staff also explain all the necessary charges and they're very fair. As a business owner, I get it and they have to keep their lights on. They don't overcharge for any unnecessary tests or services. They won't run a test or treatment if it's not needed. They truly care about their patient pets and they love what they do. You can see it in their friendly staff. We're fortunate to have a Vet this good in South County. We would highly recommend and give 10 stars if I could.

Hands down "Monarch Veterinary hospital is the best Veterinarians Practice in Orange County" It's not just, "in the conversation", rather it is a place where you can expect to a actually engage in and have a good conversation, because all of the staff and the veterinary technicians t and assistants and the Doctors are all genuinely friendly, extremely knowledgeable, trustworthy and have absolutely no hidden agendas. No one has tried to sell me some special cat food or tell me that my cat needed to see a whisperer, which I have to say, in today's day and age, is kind of surprising in a good way. Today was my cat's 2nd follow up visit in about 6 weeks to check in on the status of what had been a real problematic yeast infection in his ears, one that had been causing excessive itching and unfortunately scarred canals. I am beating myself up about not getting a second opinion sooner, but I am delighted to see just how much his condition has improved, its gone. I am sincerely thankful for the care Romeo has received. I would like to try and explain a couple very important distinctions that help to demonstrate just how Monarch Vet differs from other practices. First I will briefly point out that there is a palpable sense of Diversity and Inclusion amongst the staff and Vets. Box checked. Second, Even though this is a traditional Veterinary practice, certain aspects of the medical care was indeed cutting edge. Orange County is notorious for being a place where people will seek the latest and greatest health or beauty treatments, right?...whether that means stem cells for their collagen production or IV vitamin drips for their hormone levels, OC has developed a reputation of being a place that offers extensive cutting edge medical care. In this case, both Dr. Alcala and Dr. Craft demonstrated to me that their techniques and recommendations were very modern indeed. Dr. Craft knew that a certain medication, which was primarily used for canines, would likely have superior results on my Cat. It did. In fact J prefer my Doctors to be cutting edge in this regard, using their experience rather than a textbook written in 1982 to guide their decision making. This is a great office with great leadership and I wish every practice I visited was this compelling. I might be overthinking it, but regardless thank G-d for this office and the Doctor's her Meow meow meow Thank you Again meow meow. and.. that was from Romeo.

We're traveling in Dana Point for a month and Kai picked up this weird nose thing. We didn't want to spread it to the OC dogs so hurried in. We got in right away to Dr. Bonke who was so awesome along with all the staff here. Very happy to have found this place. Thank you!!

This 1 star review is for the administration and front desk people. A few days ago we started our dog on an antibiotic pill. It was 3 days tops and our dog started to have a bad reaction so we called to explore an alternative option which we were told would be a $200 shot. We asked if there was a way to credit the antibiotic pill charge seeing as though he had an adverse affect and were told no, that the office manager stated that was not possible. When I asked if I could speak to the office manager I was told no. When I asked if I could speak with Dr. Pat, I was told no and that I'd have to schedule and pay for an in person consultation. I asked if he could please call me back and I was told no. I asked if there was anyone else above the front desk girl I could speak with to dispute the charge and I was told no. This is a terrible business practice and it's left such a bad impression for me. Dr. Pat is a great guy and I can't imagine that he would not allow for his customers to dispute a charge.

The facility is clean, modern, and efficiently run, and their communication regarding shots and exams is always clear and helpful. What really earned my respect was how they handled Checkers' recent patella luxation surgery. A piece of their specialized equipment broke just days before the procedure. Instead of making excuses, they went above and beyond. They coordinated with a top specialist in the area--who has performed over 30,000 knee surgeries--to see us at the same time, on the same day, and for the same price. Their honesty and dedication to getting Checkers the best care possible, even when it was out of their hands, is exactly what you want in a vet. They truly care about animals first. To be clear, the veterinarian provided excellent care, several of the vet assistants were wonderful, and I've generally had positive experiences with the front desk. My dog had surgery to remove a cyst, and the procedure itself was handled very well. For that, I'm truly grateful. Unfortunately, the issue came afterward. When checking out, I questioned the high cost of the medication and mentioned that I normally use Chewy or Allivet. The front desk encouraged me to use their pharmacy instead, assuring me the prescription would be approved quickly and the service would be reliable. Since my dog needed an antibiotic daily for 10 days, I agreed and purchased enough locally to cover four days in case of shipping delays. The medication didn't even ship for three days. By Monday, I was almost out and contacted the office. Instead of receiving understanding or help, I was told it was my fault for ordering through their pharmacy and that I could either pay an inflated price for more pills or "figure it out myself." Of course, I had no choice but to pay because my dog needed the medication. Now I've learned the shipment won't arrive until next Monday, after the medication is no longer needed, forcing me to buy even more locally just to complete the treatment. The delay is frustrating, but the real disappointment is the lack of ownership, empathy, and support when their recommended solution failed. Integrity matters most when something goes wrong. Sadly, because of this experience, I'll be finding a different veterinarian moving forward.

The pain is indescribable. And to have a vet show NO compassion, NO empathy, and be completely unprofessional and rude made this painful day even more agonizing. I have never had an experience like this with a vet, let alone with one coming to put an animal to rest. We have had to say goodbye to many beloved pets in our family and have had some of the most caring, loving vets help us through it. Audrey could not be farther from that. After the primary vet told us it was time to say goodbye, my aunt made calls to find someone available to come to the house. Audrey said she would be coming back home from a trip that day and we were on her way. By the time she arrived, we were all there, friends and family, in tears, trying to give as much love as we could to our precious fur baby. Audrey walked in, sat down, and immediately started taking out her supplies and seemed so rushed. My aunt started to share how hard this is for her and how scared she was. Audrey responded by saying things like "what's the other option? Spending tens of thousands of dollars at the hospital?" And went on with a rehearsed speech that sounded almost like a lecture. Her coldness could be felt by all of us. She did not say his name once. Did not examine him. Just continued to take out her supplies and rushing through the process. My aunt then asked about the process and the memorial keepsakes we could have, and Audrey seemed even more annoyed. We were in shock. Her attitude was so evident like a dark cloud in the room. So my aunt, who was experiencing one of the hardest days of her life, had to ask Audrey if SHE was ok. Audrey scoffed and said "You knew what time I would be getting here, I thought you would be ready." We were even more shocked. Trying to explain we just wanted to have the experience we were expecting and have had with other vets when we say goodbye- a compassionate and loving, personal experience. Because Audrey seemed to not understand how hard this was for us, my mom even added that our grandma was in the hospital and things are just so hard. Audrey's response was "yeah well we are all going through things. I just drove 8 hours. Do you want me to do this or not?" SHOCKED. Why did she agree to come here if she wasn't capable of giving us the time and compassion any family would need? We were all looking at each other in disbelief, and without a word Audrey packed up her things, walked out and slammed our door! So cruel. She abandoned a patient in need of care, prolonging his suffering. She abandoned a broken family. Thankfully, he made it through the night and we were able to make appointment for the next morning with the most caring, kind, compassionate, gentle vet that made the transition as beautiful as she could. She asked about him, his personality, his life. Did a full exam before confirming that we were making the right decision to say goodbye. She spent time with us after he crossed rainbow bridge to do paw prints & clay prints, and keep fur clippings. This is one of the hardest reviews I've ever had to write because of the pain Audrey caused our family and precious cat. There are other options out there.

My dog had significant inflammation in multiple areas of his paw, including between the toes. However, the veterinarian did not examine the underside of his foot or the interdigital webbing, which is where a large portion of the problem was visible. Instead, I was immediately encouraged to proceed with a needle aspirate and cell analysis quoted at approximately $600-$700. I was uncomfortable moving forward with that without first addressing the obvious inflammation and possible infection. I was also quoted additional fees (around $65) to clean a single wound on one toe, while the rest of the paw condition was not discussed or treated. I asked for oral antibiotics and was told no he did not need them, I was prescribed one ointment called Anamax $35, even after I expressly asked for oral antibiotics she said no he did not need them, (the first thing the other hospital i.e. the second vet said, "we need to get him on oral antibiotics for six weeks as well as steroids", we started that protocol and within one day, I've seen huge improvements.) more in this,. After leaving Sendero, My dog was in so much pain, I sought care elsewhere. The second veterinarian examined the entire paw, including between the toes, and treated him with appropriate medications as mentioned above ( oral antibiotics and oral anti-inflammatory medications ). He has already shown noticeable improvement. I paid about $110 for this visit at Sendero and did not feel that my dog received a thorough evaluation or appropriate initial care. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable returning or recommending this clinic.
