I've been coming to this particular VFW for a couple years now. I come here because a friend sings…read morehere regularly. A lot of his fans are friends of mine so it's good to see friends, have dinner and listen to music I remember from childhood. I am actually surprised that I haven't joined a VFW. I'm qualified to be a member. I usually Join an organization after I've been to 3 or 4 events. The usually have dinners along with the music. You can usually choose between about 4 entries or so. One thing I've been forgetting is to memorize my table number to give to the gal that takes orders. So I had to go look up my number. I wonder how many stars I'd earn as a customer? I'm bassing my review several past visits. If I was rating for tonight only I give it 2 stars for food and service and add a star for the entertainment. First, I was charged 10 bucks for my dinner. It clearly stated in easily readable type that my meal was 9 dollars. When I asked about it she informed me it went up in January. I remembered it going up from 8 to 9. Rather than make a scene I quietly decided that she just tipped herself. My soda was only a dollar for a 12 once can plus a buck tip for excellent service. So I spent 12 for a meal and entertainment for the evening . Not bad at all in today's economy. Ooops, as I'm writing I realize I didn't tip the band. Remind me to tip them double next time. Back to food. My salad arrivedcreally fast. A nice green salad with lettuce cucumber onions and a little tomato with just the right amount of thousand island. I was afraid that since my salad arrived so quickly my main dish would too. I really get annoyed when a server brings out my main dish too early. If you don't believe me just refer to some past reviews. You'll see. Nothing could have been further from the truth. I started to get worried about it so I went to check on my order. I politely enquired about my dinner. In a less than friendly way I was informed that they were busy and I'd get my meal when it was finished. I told the gal that I wasn't complaining I was just enquiring. So after a bit of time My dinner arrived. I think my server ate most of my cauliflower and broccoli on the way from the kitchen, or perhaps it rolled off my plate in transit. I don't know what else could explain the lack of veggies on my plate. The chicken breast was of reasonable proportion, medium sized at best. One look it it and I could knew why it took so long to arrive at my table. It had been cooked about 15 min too long. It was kinda tough and VERY DRY but the taste was good. The baked potato was perfect. Even perfecter when I added butter and sour cream. The meal included a small piece of cake, which was just enough. Over all an enjoyable evening. Oh I should mention that I'm many occasions the parking lot fills up fast. When this happens you can usually find close street parking..

There is a group of us (sometimes 6 to10), who eat Breakfast most every Sunday after church, (about…read more10:20am.) at Encanto VFW. The prices are reasonable, and there is always some variety choices, and a special of the day. We are not members of the VFW....although two of us are veterans. They are open for anyone wanting to eat....and everyone is so friendly, not only the staff, but the other people also eating. They talk to each other, even across the isles, and so we now know many of the people ...who seem to be regulars there for breakfast. Mostly Seniors, also Some families with children and some singles. We think It's a great place. Get your own coffee ...Casual. We have also been there on occasion, for Taco Thursdays, or for fish, or steak night....excellent food. Sometimes the wait does get a little long before the food gets to you during the Breakfast time....even 30 minutes...once in a while. But we have learned to sit back, visit, and have another cup of coffee. They are really busy, Volunteers...and sometimes maybe not all the kitchen help showed up, so maybe the tickets get a bit mixed up, and they get a little stressed... but, you'll get your order. For the most part it is a casual, enjoyable, like a mom and pop type of place to have breakfast. (Our favorite is always the Biscuts and Gravy.) Sunday breakfast, is not a quick in and out place....It is a come on in, ..order,... sit relax...have a cup of coffee... and visit a while,... and eat, type of place. We look forward to Sunday breakfast at the VFW. They have a small parking lot, which gets full ...as people tend to stay awhile, but street parking on Federal Ave., is easy. Check it out sometime. VTS ensures our military service members reintegrate back into civilian life and the civilian workforce into careers suitable for their level of military experience and economic sustainability. This is achieved by providing service members with effective tools to translate their military experience into recognizable civilian job skills, civilian certifications to transfer military experience into its civilian counterpart, identifying needed training to fill skill gaps and one on one mentoring in four critical areas required to sustain a successful transition: Career Development, Cultural Adaptation, Obtaining VA Benefits and Education Planning. The VTS goal is to seamlessly transition all military personnel who enter the Veterans Transition Support program prior to leaving military service through individual mentoring, career management, counseling, and weekend and evening programs that close skill gaps and provide networking opportunities with civilian hiring managers.
