There's lots of stuff everywhere, which is how I like to see my thrift stores. I don't like neat and tidy thrift stores. I like the ones that look a little unkempt and fried. Veterans Thrift Store is nicely chaotic. There were a lot of people in the store when I visited during a weekday, so I guess other people like the chaos, too. My kids latched onto the toy section, of which there were lots. The toy section kind of bled out into the shoe section, which bled into the clothing section, which mingled with the home goods. Everything is kind of everywhere here, like I said, which makes discovering treasures a fun experience. Parking is fine, but the spaces are the kinds where they are set up one way, so if you enter from the wrong way, you're kind of screwed and have to back up and come at it from the other side. read more

As much as it looks chaotic inside, I love this place! The staff are always really nice, most things have good pricing...you can find some really nice treasure here-there is so much to look at and they have furniture too! They give a Veteran's discount (with ID); I love thrifting!! read more

I am absolutely disgusted by what I witnessed at this store. My mother is a disabled Marine Corps veteran who had already shown her ID for the veteran discount. Her legs gave out, so she had to return to the car, but she later decided she wanted a purse. Mirella, the sweetest cashier, showed compassion and honored the discount because 2 minutes prior she saw her military ID. Instead of appreciating her kindness, supervisor Dina became angry and humiliated Mirella in front of me and the entire store. It was heartbreaking and completely unacceptable. A disabled veteran deserved compassion, and an employee deserved dignity. Mirella gave both. Dina did not. I truly hope management takes this seriously. Mirella is incredible and showed more leadership in that moment than the person supervising her. read more

When we visit Oceanside, we always stop by Veterans Thrift. (It used to go by DAV.) I don't know how to describe how many things are in this building, it's massive and packed full of everything you can possibly think of and probably a lot you didn't know existed. We found a pair of men's Lululemon dress pants, wi games, and other odds and ends we felt we couldn't live without. If you love to thrift, you will love this place. They also give a 25% discount to active military and veterans. read more

They done some changes and it feels more organized and we've always had great customer service experiences here. They have always been helpful and friendly with each visit. Prices vary so be aware some items are great deals and some overpriced. That's the norm at most thrift stores. Knowing money goes to veterans from what I hear, that makes me happy that I'm getting unique items while helping those who served and sacrificed so much. Huge selection from clothing for anyone and everyone to toys and home goods and furniture and accessories and jewelry and purses and holiday decor. You never know what you'll find!!!! read more

Busy location lots of customers during my visit. Today orange tag 30% off , items with $3.95 does nkt qualify for a discount. All sales are final , no exchange or return. Clothing merchandise arrange by like items, women shorts all in the same shelf etc. . By organizing clothing this way it seems more chaotic for me . I haven't been to this location in awhile and decided to check if out, as I was looking for some holiday inspired items! To my disappointment, some of the prices were rather ridiculous for it being a thrift shop! What was also really annoying is that they didn't have anything dressing rooms, but had the audacity to have "All sales final" signs posted everywhere. I was understand to have " all sales final" if you allowed people to try stuff one, but not when yo don't! Needless to say, I didn't buy anything and I probably won't be returning! read more

came here for some lovely used Pyrex's glass casserole dishes. found two fabulous ones. paid and left. as I was leaving and holding the door open for ppl, I cracked one of the Pyrex dishes on the door. Dina gave me outstanding customer service in which she did not have to. she noticed how bummed I was of breaking the dish I purchased and I hadn't even left the store yet. When I explained to her what I had done, she let me get another Pyrex of the same price or pay the difference if it costed more. I really appreciate her doing that. This really was a kind thing to do on her end. I have given my business to the DAV Veterans Thrift countless times as well as donations through the drive thru out back because I believe in their mission and love to support local businesses doing honest work. I liked that there were two entrances to the store. It was my first time visiting this store and it was not the cleanliest. Organization is definitely an are for improvement. There were sections with random things like a lid, a straw, and empty box with product missing etc. While I'm sure they have great items it is really difficult to look through with no order or without the sizes being shown. I saw some really good prices and some overpriced items. I had no contact with staff and definitely would not be able to tell who worked there aside from the cashiers. read more

We have been shopping here for decades! We recently purchased a magnificent log stump bookcase. It is handmade from wood root stumps. One of a kind vintage antique. We realized it was too heavy and large for us to move. We almost passed on it however we spoke to the manager and he told us about the delivery service they offer. Amazing next day delivery! Friendly prompt and very careful! So happy with my new old bookshelf! read more

If I could give this place a 0 I would ... I bought a Pokémon box had 3 packs inside for 45 dollars when I got home they were all repeats ! It can be quite chaotic at times due to a slight disarray of goods but fun nonetheless. Not the kind where you'll generally find good records or media but many older electronics and gadgets. Lots of clothes! Cheap compared to the others with many random things other thrift shops don't have like buckets of hockey sticks and garden tools next to a large furniture section. Worth a visit for sure if it's your kinda thing. read more

We started our Saturday thrifting here. On the hunt for very specific items to create our Halloween costumes and we were shocked that we were able to knock out more than half of our list! Everything is pretty well organized for the most part (to general areas) and the staff was nice. The location is a tad scary but definitely worth braving. Something to add is that they do a military discount with ID and that's pretty awesome too. read more

However, today I had a donation pickup scheduled - they only took some of the items, broke the file cabinet when they chose not to take it and made assumptions about the quality of all the items based on one item. I do everything I can to support any entity that supports our military (current and former), but today was an absolute waste of a day in trying to donate and left with a mess afterwards. read more

Ive donated to this Store many times because i support their mission, I have found many items here , the only thing is try to only get items on sale so you avoid full price .Ask Cashier what Color tag and % discount is on sale that day , also items "without paper tags" such as dishes ,books, etc. rarely go on sale,try and call store to ask for sales that day read more

Its not well organized. They have sizes and styles all mixed together. For a large store, that means shoppers could be there all day without making much progress. Since there are lots of volunteers, perhaps taking some time to organize the store would result in less frustration from shoppers. Hopefully less frustration results in greater sales. This place is extremely disorganized. The clothes are just put on the rack and not organized by size or color or anything. Clothes are thrown on the rack and on the floor. Tshirts are 6.95 and up. Management is clearly lacking here. It's like this place just puts out any old thing and they don't care about quality. This place has no standards on how things are displayed. The lighting in the place is dark and the inside is so outdated and sad looking. Upper management needs to evaluate the organization, prices and standards of this place. Upgrade - We donate all of our old clothing and "stuff" to DAV. They conveniently pick up from Escondido and they're a lot easier to schedule than AMVETS. This was my first visit to the actual DAV storefront and I'm happy to say that old my "Showgirls"DVD that I donated last month has found a new home..This is a thrift store and with that comes having to sift through piles of junk to find a diamond in the rough. Other than clothing and finding a pair of like-new tap shoes for $3.50 there wasn't anything else of interest to me. Still, it's worth a visit and the fact they accept cards is a huge plus. What's good? - Girls clothing - Shoes for soccer and tap dance. What's not good? - Men's shirts Tip- Have you've ever wanted to wear a marathon shirt but not actually run a marathon? This used to be a favorite thrift store of mine. I moved away but visit when I am in the area. All clothing is on racks by type. No longer do they sort by size. Not even by color. It's all just mashed together. Size or color would make it easier to shop. It's definitely much more disorganized than ever before. Just checked out this thrift store for the first time. I am always optimistic about trying new thrift stores. As a teacher it's great to find classroom books and other things at a cheap price. I scored some amazing like-new magic school bus books today. I have never been in before but I didn't even bother to look through the clothes. Everything in there was quite grungy. In my experience, goodwill thrift stores tend to be more organized and full of fresher items. The frames and mirrors and dishes and workout gear just looked so old. It was pretty messy as well. Books were well organized and they had some Christmas decor already out for sale. Overall it was semi-organized but it wasn't clean. I would certainly come back to do a drop off though! I fully support veterans and love that the money goes to them :) read more
