Charleston Animal Society actually recommended it and have partnered with local vets to offer a free first appointment to get a second opinion on the health of your new best friend. I was thrilled to see Simply Spay and Neuter as one of the options. After completing the adoption process, I made an appointment to come in. I was surprised to see a new Dr come in for our appointment. I was always such a fan of Dr McTavish that I was a bit skeptical at first and asked if she was available. I was informed that she's only in the office a couple times a week these days and mostly for surgeries. It turns out Dr Clarke and Foye are purchasing the office and they are currently in a transition phase. I have to say that by the end of Finley's appointment my skepticism had gone out the window. Dr Clarke left me with an assured feeling that my pups would continue to get the best and affordable care in the area that I've come to love from SS&N. It's good to see that even if Dr McTavish is on the way out, that the culture of what made this office so great will continue to stay. It also seems that they will be making improvements to offer new products and procedures as they'll be converting into a full veterinary hospital. I'm looking forward to developing a new relationship with Dr Clarke (and Dr Foye) in the future!

I was updated by vet and staff and they seemed very caring. Her care was transferred to another surgeon, dr bianucci, on Monday. That note says "discharged home", not true. This vet opted to see her after his morning appointments. Around 2:30 ish he told me she needed urgent surgery. So she goes to the OR. The only update I received was from the receptionist. He updated me after surgery (i knew she was critical). I never heard from him again. Until he called after she died. On Tuesday she seemed better. I saw her twice. I elected to call for an update at 10 pm and was told they were rounding and would call when completed. ( I was previously told they would let me know if her condition changed they didn't @ ). At midnight the note says tach tachypnic and abd distended. Next note says "around 2-2:30" she went into cardiac arrest and cpr was started. The says O ( me ) was called and stopped cpr. I was called at 4:44 am. I was told she was in cardiac arrest and asked them to stop. My furkid died alone. They never called me when her condition changed and sure as hell never called me "around 2-2:30 am". I finally spoke to the office manager who had no answers. The charges were ridiculous. For example " hospitalization" level 2-$195 and below that "blood pressure"-$29. I was unable to upload photos documenting all of the complaints. I realize you are a business to make money but creative and lying. Should not be part of that. I will make it my mission to tell everyone I can, how you treated my furkid and me.

Updated review! We've now been going to AMCMP for over four years and we continue to be big fans…read more We have primarily been treated by Dr. Fenamore, who treats my dog and my cat (and me!) like family, and we've also seen Dr. Epstein a few times. I feel that anyone we speak with at AMCMP speaks to us honestly and lays out options for treatment plans. They take unexpected costs into consideration and have worked with me to stay affordable, which is wonderful when dealing with emergent situations. They have also been helpful when I have concerns, letting me know if an issue needs to be dealt with immediately or if it's something that can wait a few days or even weeks before being seen. When I was having trouble deciding whether it was time to put my cat down or if I should wait, Dr. F sat with me and talked to me like a friend, letting me take time to process and make my decision. Truly the only "problem" we've ever had there is when someone who doesn't know us calls to confirm an appointment or with test results and they refer to my dog as a boy (her name is Steven so it is a bit confusing!!). AMCMP even kept us on as patients when we briefly moved out of the area, helping to keep prescriptions renewed and answering questions when the local vet was not helpful. Even though we're a solid 30 minute drive from AMCMP now and no longer within walking distance, I am so grateful to be nearby again. We'll definitely stay with them as long as we can.

She treats both you and your pet with genuine compassion, patience, and respect. You're never made to feel like just another appointment or a number; she takes her time, listens, and makes sure you understand every step of your pet's care all while valuing your opinion. What stands out most is how she sees animals for what they are -- living, feeling beings who deserve kindness and dignity. That level of care is rare, and it's exactly why my family and I trust her completely with our pets. My family and I actually drive all the way from North Mount Pleasant just to bring our pets to her and her team -- that alone should speak volumes about the level of trust and confidence we have in her care. And her team? Absolutely incredible, 10/10. Her techs are just as kind, competent, attentive, and dedicated. They go above and beyond to make sure both pets and owners feel comfortable, supported, and cared for. It's not easy to find a veterinary team that blends skill, compassion, and integrity so seamlessly, but Dr. Kahuda and her staff truly do. I am beyond grateful to have found them, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my pets.

My fiance and I are both students, so cost and transparency was certainly important to us in choosing a vet. However, I was also looking for a empathetic stress free environment for both my stray cat and myself, as I had never owned a cat before. From the initial form, allowing me to outline our story in advance, our appointment felt so individualized. Sarah R. , our fantastic Vet Tech, had read our case and was called in specially to see Princess because of her experience with strays. She was calm and effective, and I was shocked to see her petting Princess less than 30 seconds after opening her carrier (I had not yet attempted this). She was personable, telling us about her own fur babies, but I also felt she was very thorough in collecting history and let me ask lots of questions. In addition to Sarah's excellence, Dr. Morgan Mcpheeter was calm, efficient, and knowledgeable. I am not a "review" person but for the person out there wondering if they should invest in a Vet Relationship instead of a neuter/spay service, I think Charleston Harbor is everything they've advertised and more (rare in Chs).

Please, if you love your pet -- don't bring them here…read more This is the most painful review I've ever had to write. I lost my beloved pet because of this clinic's carelessness and complete lack of responsibility. I'm sharing this so others don't have to experience the same heartbreak. At our first visit, the clinic ran a blood test and prescribed some medication. That was it. There was no follow-up to ask how she was responding, no phone call to check in on her condition--just complete silence. We trusted that they knew what they were doing, and we hoped they would guide us if anything serious came up. But they didn't. Weeks passed. At the second visit, instead of providing clear answers or a proper diagnosis, they vaguely suggested it might be cancer or maybe IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). Their approach was unsettlingly casual, and again, they just prescribed more medication. Still, no one from the clinic followed up afterward to see how she was doing. As our pet's condition worsened--she stopped eating and was visibly suffering--we called the clinic in distress. Their response? "We're busy. Try our other office if they have time." But before even offering any help, they insisted we pay a deposit for an ultrasound. At that moment, it was clear that our pet's well-being wasn't their priority--money was. Frustrated and scared, I took her to another clinic. They immediately ran a full blood test and were shocked by what they saw. They told me plainly: it was already too late. They couldn't believe how poorly she had been managed at the previous clinic. After she passed away--leaving us in unbearable grief--I went back and demanded the original blood test results from the first clinic. What I discovered was infuriating: several critical tests had never been done. Tests that any responsible vet would have run immediately. Worse yet, they had charged us nearly twice as much as the second clinic for this incomplete and negligent work. This clinic failed my pet. They failed us. Their indifference, lack of communication, and unprofessional behavior cost us precious time we could have spent fighting for her life. If you're reading this, please don't make the same mistake. Your pet deserves a clinic that truly cares. This one doesn't.
