I have been meaning to write this for a long time now. First, Foxbank Veterinary is so Blessed to have Dr. Han! She is AMAZING! This practice is all about the health of your animals (exotics included!), and does not charge an arm and a leg to get your pets the care they need. I drive from Mt. Pleasant to Moncks Corner because of the care Dr. Han has given to my Turtle (Turts) and my Dog, Dublin. This is a great vet and we love them. From the first time Dr. King sat in the floor with our schnauzer to figure out what ailed him, we were sold. I used to think their prices were exceptional too but now get surprised, in a bad way, just about every time I bring a pet here. They are becoming like mechanics working on a German sports car... they want to tell you what you have to do rather than do what you asked them to do. I hate to say it but I may have to start trying some different vets in search of a reasonable experience. read more

My parents have gone here for as long as I can remember and have always had a great experience. I recently got a golden retriever and every appointment has been a breeze. Today my pup was really sick and I took him in for monitoring. They are great about working with pet owners on their budget while caring for your pet in the highest capacity. My husband and I Moved to charleston couple years ago and was referred here.. my golden retriever was treated so very well! They are super friendly, fast and efficient. They are about doing what is best for you and your animal.. I've been to many vets that try to squeeze every dime out of you and this place is complete opposite! We recently had to put our golden down and we brought him here.. so glad we did. It was by far the hardest thing we've ever had to but they made him so comfortable and peaceful.. I got to sit on the ground with him wrapped in his favorite blanket all the way until the end.. they took care of everything for us after and even went above and beyond and sent us a card in the mail a week later with personal notes from doctor and staff. So very lucky to have had them take care of our sweet boy until the very end. read more

I am not someone who usually leaves online reviews, but I just had to share my experience at 'Sangaree Animal Hospital at Cane Bay' in Summerville. Last week I brought my 'senior' pom/poodle Karma, for an emergency tooth extraction. I had avoided this procedure for too long, due to my fear of surgery for a senior dog (12 years old). The entire staffs' concern, professionalism, and customer service was "top notch"! They leaped into action and adjusted the schedule for Karma. They explained in detail what needed to be done, what my options were, and the costs involved. Dr Webster listened patiently to my concerns, answered all my tedious questions, and reviewed the results. Karma is back home and doing great! I grew up in the north with the town veterinarian as my next-door neighbor. He took care of our family pets and I saw first-hand great personal service. My husband brought our dog here for a checkup as we just moved down here. He seemed very pleased with them, but I was shocked at the price even after we were given "new customer" discounts. But, he was happy and therefore, a happy husband is a happy Meg. Fast forward to us needing our dog's heartworm medicine - we order through 1-800 PetMeds to save a little cash...when they call this vet to verify the prescription, THIS VET REFUSES. They have some sort of moral issue with mail order prescriptions (however if you are on a human being medical plan, you are more than likely FORCED to use mail in...). I get it, you want us to buy from you at a 50% mark up, but seriously dude...you can go fuck yourself, I have other bills to pay and already spent a lot at your place. Hubs goes to pick up a written prescription because this vet was so unhelpful (wouldn't mail or fax it to us...made him drive to come get it in protest of us not buying from them) and said that was the only way we could get the script. He picks it up and when he goes to fax it to 1-800 PetMeds, 1-800 PetMeds says THEY CANNOT RECEIVE THE SCRIPT VIA FAX - because our vet had already refused to release it to them via phone. So now we have to mail the script and pray it gets here in time before boarding Moo. What a complete and utter clusterfuck - never patronizing this place, again. read more

Having recently relocated to Mount Pleasant, we needed to take the pupper to the vet for his yearly (ehhhh...eighteen month...oops!) checkup. I made my appointment, and they were able to see me in fairly short order, despite it not being an emergency visit. I'd driven past this place when going to/from Red's several times, but had no idea it was a vet. Going in, everyone is really chill and laid back. I was see rather promptly, much faster than I've ever been seen at a vet (or even my own doctor), and could hear House of Pain and Ini Kamoze songs coming from the back room. The vet service was quick and painless (though not for Seamus - he needed shots) and not only was I able to get in and out quickly, but I got a recommendation for a tattoo shop down here. Sweet. Whenever I go to the vet, and billing time comes, I have no idea what to expect. A little service can cost a lot, and a lot of service can cost very little, sometimes. Seamus got a fecal test and the exam for free, as we had a coupon, but needed a heartworm test, distemper vaccine, rabies booster, and kennel cough vaccine. The bill ended up being $167, which I think is pretty steep, even coming from NJ. Given that the exam and fecal test would have tacked on anything from $30 - $70, this place isn't cheap, but I can't complain about the service. Like I said, in and out, which is just what I'm looking for when it comes to healthcare (for me, and the pup). read more

We happened here by pure accident. One of our guinea pigs was displaying symptoms of a UTI or bladder related issue. Our previous cavy vet was out of town, and we would have to wait 5 days to see him. When a piggy is ill, Time is of the essence-I knew waiting would be deadly. Long story short, we ended up here. I would like to mention, that the 3 vet practices we called to get here, recommended Exotics of Mount P, and I swiftly put that recommendation in its place. Do Not Ever Go to this vet. They will rob you blind & kill your pet. Happened to us 3 months ago, after a $800+ bill. Do Not Go to the Exotics vet clinic in Mount P. Moving forward. Dr King is an awesome man. He has a long goatee & it's blue, I imagine he might change the color regularly. He's knowledgeable & unpretentious. He didn't charge us for the blood/glucose test. He repeated a previous client's experience with the dreaded mount p vet-it's Not insular, many people have qualms with this jerk. Our impression of this vet practice was beyond. Dr King is an amazing vet, human & Animal lover. I'm so thankful that I know of him, and when in need, my pets will be coming here. read more

I made a trip to the Pet Vet Animal Hospital this afternoon with my Golden Retriever. The vet tech and Dr Luke were fantastic. They were very thorough and spent a good amount of time talking to me about his health history and covering every option. I didn't feel pressured to buy any unnecessary meds. I so wish I had had a Dr.King, for my dogs, the 20 yrs I lived in Walterboro! Don't get me wrong. My Vet there was nice and I trusted him, but with Dr. King there's something more. It's like when you meet someone, in whatever job, and you just know instantly that that's the person I want doing that job. When it comes to your loved ones Dr. King is that person. His manner, confidence and genuine concern for Macey was just awesome! He called me three times to check on her in 5 days! When I talked with him today he told me to never feel like I was bothering him. To just call if I had anymore questions. I'm 50 and have seen many Vets over the years and I can promise you that I've never felt more assured by a Vet from the first hello. He's a natural! His fees are also way reasonable. read more

We took our two dogs for their annual vaccinations shortly after moving to charleston. We didn't make an appointment...but didn't have to wait long at all. The staff seemed like they genuinely cared about our fur babies. When it came time for shots...the vet (Dr. King) actually let us come to the back room that they take the dogs since one of our dogs has separation anxiety. I appreciated that so much! Since then...I have seen Dr. King around town and he immediately asked about our dogs. We will definitely be going back!! read more

Amazing service I wouldn't trust my dogs with any other vet then Dr. King. He's very professional and understanding when it comes to finances and your bill. The staff is friendly and they bring you back when they come to take your dog so you can see what there doing and what is going on behind the scenes. I use to use Banfield and they were not treating my pet with the best of care. Dr. Brian King is the BEST. I moved away from Charleston ten years ago, at which time he was my pup Samson's doctor. I was so pleased to see that he was still practicing in Mt. P when I returned! Now he's taking care of Sammy again, this time in his senior citizen years. I worked as a veterinary assistant in two clinics growing up in Tennessee, and I can say from those experiences that Brian is an exceptionally approachable doctor. He always takes his time explaining things, goes the extra mile, and thinks both inside and outside the box. A lot of being a vet is bedside manner with pet owners, and he has it in spades. The rooms are a little in need of a new coat of paint or some sprucing up, but that's easily forgivable considering the level of care given. Support staff is friendly and capable. There are no words to express the professionalism of Dr. Gordon Luke. He has a genuine compassion for my dog and me. He saw me and Piper during a difficult illness. To receive calls from him to see how Piper was doing and to answer all my questions was beyond what I expected. At the visit or follow up phone calls he never tried to rush you out of the office or off the phone. Best Animal Hospital in Town! Caring, loving knowledgeable,experienced, what more can I say. I have 5 pets, 2 dogs & 3 cats. I shopped around town for the best care after a bad experience at another local vet's office. I take my pets to the vet if they sneeze the wrong way and am very particular about how my animals are treated. Being able to stay with my pet through the entire examination means a lot to me. It allows me to see how thorough the vet/staff are and how they treat my pet. I have been going to Dr Brian King & Dr Gordon Luke for 9 years and can't say enough about the care my pets receive from them and their entire staff, including the front desk. ANYTIME one of my pets has a problem they are ALL extremely attentive and get back to me the same day. Dr King even met me at the hospital at 11pm, the night before a major holiday, to take care of my sick dog. In response to reviewer Megan C. not getting her 1-800-PETMEDS prescription refilled, I have never had a problem with that. They may not do it over the phone but most definitely will give you the prescription in person and I never have a problem with mailing it in. You could have also purchased a single dose so you wouldn't have a boarding problem while waiting for your mail order script. That's what everybody else does and getting a 1-800-PETMEDS prescription is not what anyone should use to rate a vet's office on. Pet Vet's prices are equivalent to other vets in the area BUT the care you get is ABOVE & BEYOND and that to me is priceless!! read more

I first started going to Pet Vet when I moved to Charleston 2 years ago and this review is long over due. I took my cat to Dr. Luke after having problems with him being constipated. BAD. Dr Luke was very patient, considerate and caring. He diagnosed my cat with a very rare colon disease usually found in the manx breed. There are several medicines, foods/combinations and different opinions on how to best treat the disease. Not only did he take his time in our visit but he also followed up with me a couple of days later after talking to other vets and doing more research outside of our visit. He had him on a specific food and two medications to keep things flowing smoothly and it WORKED. he also had me to bring him in about once a month so he could feel his colon and make sure he wasnt getting constipated again and to make sure he was comfortable. He offered this to me free of charge. He was really good at giving me several options and letting me decide what was best for my cats health AND my bank account. Sadly after about of year of managing the colon disease my cats health deteriorated due to cancer. Dr Luke was with me every step of the way and helped me make the hardest decision of my life in ending his pain and putting him down. Again he always let me know what my options were and guided me in an un-forceful caring way and let me decide what was best for us. Lots of people have opinions on the timing of putting down a pet and he only reassured me that what I was doing was out of love for my beloved pet. Those words meant so much at that time. If you want a vet that truly cares for your pet as much as you do Dr. Luke is the vet for you. read more
