So well in fact, she was trying to run by the next day. When we unfortunately had to schedule another surgery because some of her pins migrated, Dr. Born opened up her schedule to accommodate us when she was already fully booked. Every one of her staff members that we have interacted with have all been so kind. Knowing our baby was in good hands made the entire experience so much easier for everyone! I went in today for a consultation. I was charged $160 for a conversation (which I was not told about before hand!) Conversation went like this: Doctors: What happened Me: Explanation given Doctor: Oh, you're gonna need surgery for $6000! Since paying $6000 for a leg surgery was not in my budget, I ask for alternatives and was told, "wait and maybe get it amputated!" Seems once I declined the $6000 surgery, the empathy and sympathy just went out the window!! There was NO disclosure about a fee when the appointment was made or on subsequent calls. Leads me to believe that they don't fully disclose fees in general! I want my $160 back! read more

When dogs have pain/issues they can't tell us what and where. Our 1 year old large mixed breed went from puppy phase straight to geriatric phase what felt like overnight. We took her to two different vets offices, a vet neurologist, and upon seeing another new vet was referred to VRSP, found out in the first visit that she had Lyme disease, this took months to discover and of course thousands of dollars. We appreciate the knowledge that Dr. Little had to test for this. Our young pup is doing much better. Of course, I was skeptical after what felt like throwing money away but happy to know there are doctors out there that are not just looking to make money at the expense of someone's difficult time. read more

Dr. Little and his team successfully performed ACL repair surgery on two of our large (120 pound) dogs. Our dogs were miserable and in pain prior to surgery. One is fully recovered and fully functional. The other has surgery this week, is doing great. ACL repair surgery is expensive but the alternative risk associated with not getting the surgeries in a tune manner was unacceptable. I brought my Great Dane in for a short feeding tube procedure; he was on chemo and had stopped eating due to stress. His entire medical team thought this procedure would be beneficial, and his prognosis was excellent from his oncologist (2+years). I waited a week just so I could get in with Dr. Noone, who we had used in the past. We only went for a laparotomy with gastric tube placement and that is all we discussed and that I signed off on. During our consult on 6/13/19 it was determined his kidneys were stressed and Dr. Noone stated he wanted to keep him overnight for fluids and that one anesthetic event could put him in renal failure. I agreed to leave him overnight, and I told them if his kidneys had not improved in the morning, I would just come pick him up and we'd try a new appetite stimulant. Dr. Noone and his technician assured me they'd call me first thing in the morning to let me know so I could come get him if I wanted to. They NEVER CALLED the next day. I left multiple voicemails, and they NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I called the ER side, and someone told me he WAS ALREADY IN SURGERY. I was in shock. I drove to the clinic; Dr. Noone came out and didn't tell me what he had done. At this point, I just assumed he'd done the simple short feeding tube procedure. He left for the day, and the technicians took me to the back. My boy was clearly in distress and under a heating blanket. I said to them THREE TIMES that I thought he should spend the night, and all of them said "oh no he'll be fine." Then they proceeded to shoot him up with morphine, drag him on a mat to the parking lot(while his legs were banging things in the hall) because he couldn't stand, then five of them shoved him in my car. His gums were pale and heart rate high; again I said I think he should stay, and they said he'd be fine. So I trusted them and left. When we got home, we pulled him out of the car, but he became so distressed in his breathing/gums turning pale that we determined we'd kill him if we moved him, so we spent the night on the garage floor with him. We wanted to get him to an ER, but again, we thought we'd kill him if we moved him. He suffered all night. Dr. Noone's tech had told me she checks the messages between 6-9pm; no one called me back until the next day. After suffering all night, he died the next day. It was at this point I looked at my final invoice and it showed that Dr. Noone had done A MAJOR ABDOMINAL EXPLORATORY SURGERY instead of just the simple feeding tube procedure! This was never discussed, I did not sign off on it, and I would never have agreed to that! Why would anyone put a dog who was on chemo, anorexic for two weeks, with high blood pressure and elevated kidney levels under anesthesia for THREE HOURS! It's unfathomable someone would do this, especially without permission. I still cannot understand this. My husband called Dr. Noone to ask why he did that; instead of apologizing he claimed that I requested that! He also said they didn't call me that morning because their phones were down! He also said I refused to let my dog stay overnight! Unbelievable. We then requested his medial records 5 times via email and they ignored us. Days later, they sent over FALSIFIED RECORDS DATED TWO DAYS AFTER HE WAS ALREADY DEAD. We called the owner of the practice, Dr. Filler, and he never bothered returning our calls. So here we are now without our dog because we went to this practice. This was completely avoidable. This never should have happened! We are devastated and heartbroken. We trusted Dr. Noone and he violated our trust. He performed an unauthorized surgery without our knowledge or consent! In my opinion, this is malpractice, as well as how my dog was shot with morphine and forced to go home afterwards. If you want to keep your animals alive, do not go here. Highly recommend them, the entire staff was professional and caring, specifically Dr. Little. They pay attention to detail and make sure to follow up with you. My dog, Little (funny she was fixed by Dr. Little), had her rotator cuff repaired. She was limping and in pain prior to the surgery. We are a few months post op and she can walk, run, and play as if this never happened!! After the surgery, we needed more pain medicine and they promptly called us back. They made her as comfortable as possible during the healing process. I have to say that when reading reviews of this place, I almost took her somewhere else (which is why I feel compelled to write this). However, my primary vet highly recommended them. Once we talked to Dr. Little, we knew she was in great hands. Dr. Little provided top notch care to our girl and replaced her ligament with skill. I'm so thankful she is back to normal! read more

We had to find a surgeon for our senior dachshund to remove a large growth in her foot. We found Dr Wagner at the Marietta location. Upon meeting Dr Wagner we felt very comfortable with her. She explained what was needed in detail and assured us all would be fine. Day 3 and our fur baby is doing remarkably well. They made sure to send her home with meds that keep her comfortable. I would highly recommend this practice should your pet require surgery. Our pet was taken very well care of. We could not have asked for anything better. Do not let the negative review sway you as most seem to be disgruntled over the cost. We found the cost reasonable in comparison to another local large vet hospital. Don't go here unless you have a lot of money to waste. We came here after our Dr. had already done x-rays and was sure our boy had torn his acl partially. They told us here they needed another x-ray even tho we had one. After taking 2 new x-rays and charging us 350, we were told they had no clue what was wrong and needed to do exploratory surgery which would be 1,500 and if it was acl that surgery would be 5-6 thousand on top of that. All and all we wasted our time and money that we don't have for zero answers. They really just want your money here. read more

Just so everyone is aware this place has ZERO aftercare. This place just bangs out surgeries. If your little one has any issues be prepared to see another vet. We in our car 1 hour after major surgery. Leg twice as big as other one. They still can not put your little one in your car fast enough. They want you to leave as fast as possible. Had to do 2 more surgeries since they closed her up so fast. Zero meds given to us except pain meds. Got an infection. Banged us out for another grand on a surgery that the drain grenade they put in lasted till we made it home. If you have zero problems this place would be great. But if you have ANY complications your F@!$ed. They will use Covid for lack of customer service. I would recommend a second option if surgical location is difficult. I brought my 11 year old Lab in for a consultation for Laryngeal Paralysis and Dr Filer, without putting any pressure on me, explained what was going on with Wilson in a way I could understand and what my options were moving forward. I had already done a lot of research prior to the consultation and after speaking with Dr Filer was confident that surgery was the best option for my dog, Wilson. From check-in to check-out the procedure went smoothly. All the staff were friendly, helpful, and compassionate. Dr Filer called me with an update promptly after the procedure and the overnight doctor called me that evening with another update before bed. What a special group of caring Veterinary providers for our fur persons. Sheamus had a very fast growing tumor between his toes that was oozing and huge. Dr. Filer and his staff jumped in and planned for a surgical procedure the very next day. Their caring and professional manner is top notch. Thomas Noone is a cruel butcher. He was scheduled to perform a small tissue biopsy, instead in sliced open my poor dogs leg and partially removed a begin lipoma. He refused to offer pain control. Refused to send his medical records to my dogs humane vet/surgeon. This "professional" CHEWED Me Out because I do.not share his love affair with cages. He pitched a temper tantrum! Threw his pen at the laptop, pushed his chair back and crossed his arms and started yelling. Disgusting.Had the audacity to send a registered letter dismissing me from his practice. This man is a barbarian. I have learned form multiple vets in the Atlanta area veterinary community that Noones cruelty is an open secret. I have now reported him to the state veterinary board. Dr. Noone with Veterinary Referral Surgery was great! He took so much time and care to explain all of our options to us from conservative routes to surgery, risks of each, etc. After all of the information provided, we opted for IVDD surgery and we are so glad we did. Dr. Noone actually discovered three ruptured discs upon doing the surgery. He even does a procedure on the remaining discs to remove calcification to ensure the remaining discs don't rupture later on. Our little dachshund Cookie was back up and walking within only a few short weeks and she's gotten better and better every day since then. Now, only a few months later, she's acting like she's a puppy again. You can't even tell she ever had surgery and she has more energy than we've seen in years. We absolutely recommend VRS if your dog needs to undergo surgery. They have multiple office locations so you can go to whichever is most convenient for you. They also have physical therapy options (under-water treadmill) should your dog require a little more after-care. Highly recommend them! read more

I was sent here by my regular vet. He first sent me to GVS, but after doing my research on the procedure that was recommended for my dog (cervical fenestration), I learned that their prices were higher than normal. So I called my vet back and he quickly recommended Veterinary Surgical Referral. We went to the Marietta location for an initial consult, and after they carefully examined my dog, the vet took her time and explained everything about the procedure that she recommended, including a price quote. She also adjusted his pain medications and recommended I ween my dog off prednisone because, as she put it, it makes them bleed too much in surgery. She also took into consideration my limited finances, and recommended I book the next surgery appointment at the Roswell location. I did, and with a different vet, we were again treated warmly and were fully informed. Dr Noone (pronounced 'noon') and his tech Charity took my dog that morning and kept him for the surgery. Charity called later that afternoon to inform me that he was about to go in for the CT. Then Dr Noone called me when he encountered a major complication. I ok'd the Dr to do whatever he thought was best for my dog. Dr Noone called late that evening to tell me that he was done, he was very satisfied with the results, and told me specifically what all he decided to do - which was a lot (spinal fusion because of the complication, and two fenestrations). They remained in constant contact with me while my dog was there, calling in the morning and evening. If I wanted to call them to inquire more, I could have. When I came to get my dog, Charity was there to explain his post-op care, and had everything very organized and written down. That night I was having trouble calming him, and Charity called me and offered to let me call her back on her cellphone if it was important. Instead I texted her and thanked her for going above and beyond. Any and all follow up visits are covered in the fee I paid. It was expensive, totaling $5800 ($1400 above the quoted price, no doubt due to the complication). But I did my research online and found their prices to be only $500 or so more than the veterinary teaching hospital at Auburn and about $1000 more than UGA. The average cost in the region should be about $4k, so I believe their prices are fair. God forbid I ever have to do this again... But if I do, I'll go back to them. read more

Price gouging beyond anything I have ever seen. They charge over $300 plus per night to keep pet overnight. To be clear...its a minimum of $300 then they add more for "other services" depending on what they do. I have had animals all my life and in various locations in USA and overseas...by far over priced. Drive an extra mile or so to find the same care for far less. read more

As with many places the doctors seem to know what they are doing and do a good job, at least the animal comes back fixed and alive. The staff is a different story. At this location there procedures are nothing short of chaotic. Everyone understands the Covid-19 hinderance, but god's sake they have had 1 year to work this out. At this location the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. To complicate it even more there are two related but different businesses in the one facility and they for sure do not like each other. Good management would fix this, but I'm sure that is not happening here. Either there is a Vet who they put in charge and really does not want to deal with the staff or they promoted one of the staff with an IQ over 75 to be the office manager, but either way the the job is not getting done. I cannot fix this, so my solution is to wrap up what they are doing for me and just never go back. I will also tell my regular vet not to refer me to this outfit again. So if you enjoy chaos, being treated rude and having to deal with total stupidity. This is the place for you. In the future I'm going to go elsewhere. read more

I was referred to VRSP by my vet when my sweet 2 year old golden retriever was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. We had a consultation with Dr. Filer and he more than exceeded my expectations. He did a thorough physical exam and history and spent a lot of time educating us on her condition and all the treatment options available. I did a lot of research before the appt, and it was comforting that we were on the same page about which surgery would be best for her, if she ever needed it. They do not even offer the surgery (total hip replacement) at VRSP at this time, which let me know that he genuinely wanted the best treatment for her, and was not trying to talk me into any surgery or treatments that were not best for her (and not financially motivated). I feel like that is very hard to find these days! I am a hard person to please when it comes to medical treatment for me or my animals, and I would 100% recommend Dr. Filer! read more

Dr. Noone also did my dog's surgery. I had much the same experience as Tina L., minus the complications. My dog had his luxating patella fixed. It was clearly a major surgery, as seen by the ~30 stitches he came home with. The information packet was clear and concise and they are great to deal with if you have to call them. I too received phone calls about every 6 hours while my dog was away from home and they called to check in once a day for a couple days post op. Well worth the $300, and very competitive in pricing to other surgical places. Can't put a price tag on Dr. Noone's experience, he is up to date with current studies, keeps his finger on the technology and pulse of his craft, and has beautiful workmanship. My dog is now one week post op, there have been no issues and the incision looks beautiful. I don't even think he will have a scar. read more
