Well until recently when Dr Mike retired all my fur babies have had to see Dr Scott, and unfortuntely Dr Scott is not as professional or attentive as Dr Mike. I have had nothing but poor customer service on several ocassions. For example Dr Scott has repeatly not returned any of my calls regarding questions medication given for heart care, care plans, or care plan estimates. These are few reasons of why I had to change Vet doctors.

We decided to get a second opinion and took her to VCA. My fur baby had fluid in her lungs. The Dr. did x-rays and tests at half the price (again, money was not the issue) and put her on treatment that had my dog back to normal within a few hours. I know this is not always the case for every pet but the other vet gave us no hope and we were thinking we were going to have to put her down. I did my research and found out that it is not advised for a vet to administer all vaccinations at once to a senior dog or one with health issues and an underdeveloped nose. I…read moreagreed and when I was at home, the vet called and asked for permission to sedate my cat because she got upset when the trimmers were turned on. I indicated when I checked her in that I wanted her sedated and yet, they waited until they had her and turned the clippers on to realize they needed sedation. When she came home, she had an extremely noticeable limp and her back leg. I waited 24 hours because I knew she had been sedated and perhaps she was just wobbly on her legs. The limp got worse, so I took her back and they took more x-rays only to tell me that her patella was slipping in and out, but she was unsure which it was at that time. They then wanted me to pay for the X-rays, and I refused because she was injured while at the vet. I took her to another vet and he took his time to physically examine her leg (she was not happy) and gave me medicine to reduce swelling and to help with the pain. I'm not sure if she fell from the table when the trimmer were turned on at Northpark, or someone grabbed her leg out of instinct when she tried to jump from the table, but Northpark acted like it was my fault and they had nothing to do with her injury. It's been about 6 months now, and she still walks differently. The fact they couldn't' even take responsibility for what happened is the most disappointing, more than the $$ I paid for the treatment.

As time moves on, I understand perhaps I may have let it go too long, but it does not negate the fact I miss my dog immensely. She came to our home in the middle of those rain storms and flooding. She was so sweet, sympathetic and calm with us and Pete. Pete and I sat on the couch rubbing his ears and scratching his favorite places while Dr. B, my husband and I talked. She let us take our time while comforting us and letting Pete just relax. Afterwards, she was very considerate of us and Pete's body. Later she sent us a very touching sympathy card. If we had it to do over, we wouldn't change a thing about our interaction with Dr. B. She would give shots and do a brief "well check" exam. It was so nice to have a vet that was so caring and kind with our animals. She took great care of all the dogs we'd end up with (we took in strays until we could either find better homes for them or get them back to their families). She always made sure that they were in the best health they could be. She would always remember everyone's name and ask how they were doing, even if she was there for someone else. The fact that I still remember what what excellent care she provided to us and our animals 15 years later should certain tell you something about Karen Bookout. She was, hands down, the best vet we have ever had. I miss having her nearby!
