I indicated when I checked her in that I wanted her sedated and yet, they waited until they had her and turned the clippers on to realize they needed sedation. When she came home, she had an extremely noticeable limp and her back leg. I waited 24 hours because I knew she had been sedated and perhaps she was just wobbly on her legs. The limp got worse, so I took her back and they took more x-rays only to tell me that her patella was slipping in and out, but she was unsure which it was at that time. They then wanted me to pay for the X-rays, and I refused because she was injured while at the vet. I took her to another vet and he took his time to physically examine her leg (she was not happy) and gave me medicine to reduce swelling and to help with the pain. I'm not sure if she fell from the table when the trimmer were turned on at Northpark, or someone grabbed her leg out of instinct when she tried to jump from the table, but Northpark acted like it was my fault and they had nothing to do with her injury. It's been about 6 months now, and she still walks differently. The fact they couldn't' even take responsibility for what happened is the most disappointing, more than the $$ I paid for the treatment.

She would give shots and do a brief "well check" exam. It was so nice to have a vet that was so caring and kind with our animals. She took great care of all the dogs we'd end up with (we took in strays until we could either find better homes for them or get them back to their families). She always made sure that they were in the best health they could be. She would always remember everyone's name and ask how they were doing, even if she was there for someone else. The fact that I still remember what what excellent care she provided to us and our animals 15 years later should certain tell you something about Karen Bookout. She was, hands down, the best vet we have ever had. I miss having her nearby!

We decided to get a second opinion and took her to VCA. My fur baby had fluid in her lungs. I know this is not always the case for every pet but the other vet gave us no hope and we were thinking we were going to have to put her down.
