I don't know what happened between the time he was taken from me and when he was sedated, but after the appointment he developed severe stress colitis and experienced bloody diarrhea for several days. He has been seen at multiple veterinary clinics in the past and has never had this type of symptom before. I was also told by a technician that the fecal test had already been prepaid. They provided me with a fecal collection tube and explained that I could bring in a sample within 30 days at no additional charge. Since my dog was sick, I asked my boyfriend to drop off the sample for me. When he came back home, he told me he was charged for the test. I called the clinic afterward, and while they acknowledged that the misinformation came from their staff, they refused to correct the issue. Kayla told me, "We'll take this as a learning opportunity for our technicians to communicate better.", which I think is a ridiculous response. It was disappointing that the practice manager chose not to resolve a mistake that the clinic admitted was their responsibility. That response says a lot about how customer concerns are handled at their clinic. Also, the clinic offers a $10 discount for writing a review. Potential clients should be aware that some reviews may have been influenced by this incentive.

My cat's claw was torn and it was obvious to me that she would need antibiotics. He said it wasn't necessary. I pressed, he admitted they don't carry them because they are expensive and expire before they use them, thus wasting unused product. He wrapped uo the paw himself after applying ointment. (The same ointment he used on my cat's paw at a previous visit when she had a blister-looking bubble that looked like an angry extra toe bean. That turned out to be cancer.) The next day my cat's paw was so swollen it looked like a stuffed animal paw. I rushed her to a different (real) vet where they gave her a shot of antibiotic, one for pain, and a steroid for inflamation. They also gave me two boxes of oral antibiotics to administer at home over the next week. When I opened the boxes I saw that it was a container with antibiotic POWDER and a separate container of pre-measured water to be mixed together at the time of use. My cat had a full recovery but it didn't have to be so long and painful if the first vet knew what he was doing. The fact that the antibiotics came in a powder which gives it a very long shelf life confirms that this vet either has no idea what he is doing or doesn't care. And by the way, if your pet has been seen in this office, your personal information is available to everyone at the front desk check in kiosk. HIPAA does not apply to you or your pet.

My reason for a 4 star is simply that they're not labeled as an Urgent Care, nor was that said to me when they were recommended via another popular vets office in Ferndale...and its also just not in plain sight. Still, Dominque as well as the rest of the staff we encountered, were the kindest, most gentle people to talk to throughout an anxious ordeal for a furry-loved one. This is really important to me to maintain the health of my senior pup and make sure he gets the testing he needs. When I arrived, I noticed a sign the said 'Welcome' and had his name listed. Before we were placed in a room, he got a cute little bandana that they sprayed with pheromones to help him stay calm. It's little thoughtful touches like this that really matter and help you and your pet feel at ease. After his testing was done, I spoke to Doctor Boatman who was extremely thorough. I could tell that she very thoroughly read and digested his previous records and his current tests we came in for because when she spoke with me, she was very clear and concise with the best plan of action moving forward. She's a very straight shooter which I greatly appreciate. My appointment was at 5:30 and I didn't leave until 7 when they closed. She actually took the time to speak very frankly with me and answer all my questions. I really appreciate the time she took to explain everything and give her very honest opinion. I did not feel rushed at any point even though they were closing, and I felt like I was able to ask all my questions and get satisfactory answers. I also appreciate their later hours as I was able to get to my appointment after work without having to rush. The ER vet…read morediagnosed our cat with intermediate cell lymphoma, administered chemo and told us that additional testing was not needed. Dr. Carter got the test results and was not convinced it was lymphoma. She had us get different meds and order more testing. Within 48 hours of taking the non-lymphoma meds our cat was acting livelier than she had in months. Additional testing is still not 100% conclusive that we're out of the woods yet, but it is much more likely that our cat DOES NOT have cancer. Our family cannot thank Dr. Carter enough for her care and attention devoted to our lil' baby. We cannot imagine the route we would have taken had Dr. Carter not went the extra mile and treated our cat as if it was her own. We will be Dr. Carter patients for life!
