Established in 1931.

The VFW is a national organization that serves combat veterans and their families. VFW Post 2144 has been serving Veterans, their families, and the Holland community since 1931. We are home to the VFW Post 2144 Auxiliary, Honor Guard, Tulip Time Color Guard, Marine Corps League Shoreline Detachment, and the Vietnam Veterans of American.

Drove up around Noon and the parking lot was packed. Didn't realize they had bingo in the big room they have. The bar had a few people for a Friday. The girl working behind the bar was doing drinks and food. She was running crazy but doing a great job. We had burgers and hot dogs with fries and onion rings. Food was simple and great.

Hung out and played some pool, pull some pull tabs and have a few drinks. This is a great VFW, I really good shape and very friendly members and 'staff' This is one of the good ones, if you're in the area don't pass by without coming in for a visit. Right when you park, you'll see a large area to buy goodies (pies, cookies, produce), you'll see animals to pet, and then blueberries to pick. We went in late July and the berries were abundant (and delicious). We definitely tried our way through some favorites and then picked entirely too many. We ended up eating most and adding tons to blueberry pancakes over our vacation weekend in South Haven. Can't remember the exact prices but cheaper than I've paid for berries all summer, I know that much. And we ALWAYS have blueberries in the house. Also loved the super sweet blueberry lemon sugar cookie that they had in their shop, and felt welcome by the friendly staff. Lastly, speaking to how close everything is both on the farm and off; this is quite close to downtown South Haven when driving, but still feels way out in the country. It's a perfect combo, IMO, and we'd come back again and again if we lived near here.

When we arrived today we were pretty bummed that bumbleberry changed how they run the farm. We used to be able to give everyone a bucket and then the blueberries would be weighed and we would take them home. Now, be prepared to pay 12 dollars a bucket(you get to keep it). It's not the same experience when you are walking to the fields and the entire family needs to share a single bucket. We also adored the low key barrel ride. I believe it was about 5 dollars a ticket in the past. Now, you must pay 12 dollars per child plus 5 dollars per adult to watch your child play and go on a barrel ride. The petting zoo, bumbleberry chair, tire castle, everything is gated off. We passed and noticed most families did the same. This would have cost our crew 45 dollars for one ride (two toddlers, 4 adults). What was once a quaint family farm now feels off. We will be picking somewhere else next year.

Fun in the sun and a pile of fruit to boot!…read more So after another Reits run, the three of us (me, S, and my niece) decided that we'd had enough digging around looking for books and toys, but we really didn't want to go home yet. That was when S had a great idea- go pick strawberries! U-Pick fruit places are everywhere around here, and we've both got good memories of heading to Fritz's U-Pick out near Gobles when we were younger. So a quick search on Yelp turned up this place, and it was actually convenient to get to- it was on the way back from Reits. Pulling in, we were greeted with a field full of cars, and a massive strawberry field- with lots of other people here! The way it works is rather simple- you get a big container and a few little ones, and you go up and down the rows of strawberry plants looking for ripe red berries to pick while avoiding the rotten ones, the green ones, and the damaged ones. When you've picked enough (whether because your carrier is full or your back says "no more" doesn't matter), you carry the strawberries up to the hut where they're weighed and you pay for them. Then you take them to your vehicle and go on your way. It's a lot of fun, and my niece had a blast helping us dig for yummy fruit, and spending some time outside instead of watching television all day is always good. There are a few caveats- this is physical activity, so be prepared to get down and dirty. The majority of the berries are deep under the leaves, so you might have to kneel or sit in the moist dirt. Wear stuff you don't mind getting dirty. There are bees about- just give them space if you have to. It also gets pretty hot, so take precautions on sunny days! The berries here won't be as big, as uniform in flavor or in color as the ones you find at the Wal-Mart/Meijer's/local grocery. If you're looking for strawberries just to eat, be aware that you might get some sour ones- but if you're going to do things like make jelly or jam, make some strawberry pie or shortcake, or whatever, this place will suit your needs perfectly! If you don't feel like picking them yourself, you can buy them for about three bucks and change a pound (u-pick are about two bucks a pound). This is a great place to spend a few hours! We'll be back again!

While it was packed,…read morethere was plenty of space to enjoy what felt like an endless quantity of tulips in full bloom with hundreds of varieties and colors. When we first entered, we were a bit disappointed as it was a small patch of garden that was quite crowded with people taking photos (family photos, graduation photos, the works...), but once we turned the corner to the massive field of flowers, it took my breath away. This place was fantastic to view tulips and experience the magic of being amongst a field of flowers, and we were so excited to have the opportunity to order bulbs to plant in our own garden from the varietals we saw in the gardens. Note: restroom facilities and food options are quite limited during peak season, so plan accordingly!
