I don't typically leave reviews, but my recent visit was upsetting enough that I feel it's important to share. I came in for an IUD removal and replacement. While Dr. Williams was professional, the technician assisting her was not. What disturbed me most was hearing the technician laughing while I was still on the exam table being cleaned up. When I asked Dr. Williams about it, she simply said it "wasn't about me," without offering any explanation. Then, as I was leaving and said "thank you" to the technician, I heard loud laughter behind me, followed by the word "pathetic." Whether or not that was directed at me, it left me feeling humiliated and deeply disrespected in an already vulnerable moment. This was one of the most emotionally uncomfortable medical experiences I've had. I hope the clinic takes patient respect and trauma-informed care more seriously moving forward. read more

I made an appointment for a new patient / yearly checkup a month prior to the appointment date. The week before, the office informed me their doctor was actually NOT in the office for the appointment they scheduled. They then cancelled my appointment, offering to reschedule for TWO more months out. Scheduling was so unreliable I couldn't even get in the door despite a confirmed appointment. My girlfriend had her IUD replaced here and she had a very negative experience. The technician was laughing during the appointment. The Dr was respectful and professional but when she was confronted about the technician, she was dismissive. Post procedure, the technician laughed more while my girlfriend was experiencing significant pain. While leaving my girlfriend said "Thank you" and the technician replied "ok". When my girlfriend rounded the corner to exit, the technician broke out into laughter and loudly said "pathetic". This is not the level of professional I would accept from a medical professional. This was the second negative experience my girlfriend had here so I would recommend avoiding this doctor. read more

I had such a positive experience coming here for my prenatal care as well as post partum check up. The front desk staff is so nice and all the doctors and PAs as well as medical assistants were very nice and helpful. I am so lucky to have had a positive experience especially for my first pregnancy. When I came back for my postpartum check up the front desk staff was so sweet and kept complimenting my baby girl. I was always able to get ahold of them in a reasonable time frame and they never made me feel uncomfortable or worried about anything. They very clearly let me know about everything before doing it. I think they were the reason i was so confident in preparing for labor and delivery. I also delivered my baby at VHC hospital and had the best experience as well with how much the staff took care of me and made me feel safe and comfortable. read more

I have never been more humiliated at a medical center. I called them and told them my insurance situation to help with a device. I came in and talked to a nurse for twenty minutes. Then when I went to the front desk to arrange an appointment, they said due to medical assistance I could not receive care or pay them any out of pocket. They refunded my money and said if they accepted it, they could lose there license. Okay, a total waste of time. It has 8 months and they are still bombarding me with bills and e-mails and everything else under the sun saying I owe $244 even though I explained the situation and my records show they clearly refunded me that day. I have received zero care other than that day and i wish I never interacted with this place. Now my credit is in peril because they took me as a patient when they should not have. That place is really awful. Totally backward office that does not communicate or pass down patient insurance situations. They just want to get you in. read more

It is so insanely hard to actually get in touch with VHC. I have been on hold for hours trying to speak to a live person just so I can fill a prescription. This is absurd and a horrible patient experience. When I registered for a call back, I got called back only to be put on hold. It's so upsetting and awful. My experience in-person at VHC had been so/so. My first visit was with a nurse practitioner. I received some bad news minutes before my appt and was upset about it. I mentioned it to the provider and she asked me later if I was upset about anything else. I mentioned I had gained weight recently and it was upsetting me as well. Her response was "well do you want surgery?". I thought this was absolutely absurd and inappropriate. My primary doctor said "are you f*cking kidding me" when I told her. I had to go back to VHC for some follow up work and had a much better experience with a real doctor. read more

This review is for Yvonne Pierce- I went to see her to obtain a birth control prescription as mine had expired and I had moved away from my previous provider. We went through several months of wild goose chase as she had me tested for several disorders and did not listen to me when I said I did not do well on anything but low hormone doses of bc. I changed providers and moved on. However, she noted that I showed signs of anxiety during a visit and now my disability insurance placed a restriction rider on my coverage for "anxiety and related symptoms." She does not realize there are consequences for her patients when she's unable to help them- financial, physical, and mental. read more

Highly recommend VHC OBGYN in Old Town. I had an excellent experience during my pregnancy. I saw all three providers and each was kind, helpful, and professional. I never felt rushed during my appointments or that any of my questions were silly. They provided wonderful care both during scheduled appointments and during calls outside of normal appointments. The office staff are so friendly and kind. As is the helpine/advice nurse. I had a difficult labor and Dr. Mir was amazing bar none. She wasn't even on duty, but happened to be in the hospital. She came to see me and stayed for several hours. She helped me through my labor and I'm so grateful. Because I deeply trusted her, I felt more confident in everyone. The staff at VHC hospital were also incredible. Dr. Moxely was calm, professional, and caring. All the nurses were so kind and helpful. Literally my only compliant is the food. It was terrible, so get delivery :) I highly highly recommend this practice read more

I just had the most positive experience I have ever had at a doctors appointment. I saw Yvonne Pierce at the Virginia Hospital Center location and she was extremely friendly and professional. She talked me through everything she was doing and was very thorough. She took her time with me and did not rush. The front desk attendant for ob/gyn in the Annandale location was incredibly unhelpful. I arrived 10 min late to an appointment after calling and ensuring that they had a grace period for appointments (15 min). She claimed that she had called me and couldn't get through. I had no missed calls. I asked that they try to call me to ensure they had the right number and lo and behold, my phone actually rang. Then the person claimed that she didn't know what happened and that someone else called. Meanwhile she is the only person that covers ob/gyn (1 of 3 windows). It was a false representation of events. She then let me know that she had cancelled the appointment despite being within the 15 min grace period. This experience, along with others related to the Arlington staff and nurses correspondence, has sufficiently soured my experience, and despite the quality of the doctors, I have chosen to leave the practice. Not worth the headaches and interactions with front desk staff who clearly don't want to help patients. read more

Just out for your money! I went to the VHC-OB/GYN group in Old Town for my annual exam. I was then called back because to quote "there was too much blood" in my Pap smear sample. I was told that it wasn't an appointment as they only needed to redo the sample. However, the practice then proceeded to bill my insurance another $160 and me a $30 co-pay for a visit to redo a test sample that they messed up and I and my insurance company already paid for. The office manager, Sandra, said it was "a proper insurance code" and that I should have been billed. This is a perfect example of why insurance rates keep going up - doctors who just want to bilk patients for procedures they mess up. Find a doctor who is in the business to help patients not just to take as much money as they can from you and your insurance company. read more

Horrible experience. They canceled my first appointment because the physician was on vacation and when they rescheduled me they refused to see me because I was 10 minutes late due to unable to find the building. I felt extremely underwhelmed with the information they gave me up front, had to do 99% of the research on my own, and when I called with questions the nurse on call didn't know how to answer them. I immediately canceled all my appointments and am going elsewhere. Avoid wasting your time and go to another OBGYN. read more

I agree with the other reviewers, this place is toxic. Reading the other reviews I do not know if it's because I am a woman of color but I will add that to this review seeing as how it is a common thing and I cannot say that my experience had to do with anything concrete that I could explain other than the color of my skin upon reading these reviews. They don't truly care about their patients if you have an issue that is complicated they will not put their heads together to come up with a solution they will simply attempt to refer you to as many people as possible to collect as many co-pays and these people will not try to help you. If you don't already know your diagnosis don't come here because they will waste all of your time. This doctor attempted to use lidocaine on an inflamed area causing me to nearly jump off the table. The doctor should've known lidocaine is not effective where there is swelling much further she should've known not to Lance and drain a cyst because it will come right back. I have been trying to get treatment for an ingrown hair since July. I have called and escalated my situation to a manager twice. Has not been helpful. Kelly white pretended to help promising to get back to me but that was about 12 days ago. Every time I escalate a situation to the manager they promised to call you back and then they just wait until you forget. And then when you finally try to call back you have to explain an entire year worth of faulty care to a stranger. I call this place the little shop of horrors. I feel like I receive better care when I had Medicaid and it is offensive the way I've been treated. Shame on you. I have spent upwards of $250 on co-pays and I still have to return at some point to have the cyst removed. The dermatologist at Georgetown dermatologists connected me with some plastic surgeon who asked for pictures of my condition and that she was scheduled me for an appointment on Friday. Friday came and gone as they typically do without a call or any follow up. I don't even know who to call to secure this appointment what even if she will know what I'm talking about despite me sending photos blah blah. Just stay away unless you like scapegoating and mouse mazes and suffering while they play with your time and money. read more

I had left previous OBGYN practices as they were not close to my home and was recommended to see Dr. Mir. My husband and I began seeing Dr. Mir after we first found out we were expecting. My husband, the cynic, is a huge fan of Dr. Mir's bedside manner - she has treated us with the utmost respect and genuinely values our care. She takes the time to discuss our first-time parenting nerves and we have never felt rushed during our appointments. We have had no issues recommending Dr. Mir and her practice to other couples. She is a breath of fresh air for expecting parents. read more

I am sadly not able to recommend this OB/GYN. I came from El Salvador when I was a teenager, and after being in my early thirties, with a wonderful husband and successful career I was fitting the last puzzle piece of having my first child. I only came for a free consult, but was really sad because I did not have a positive experience with Dr. Mir. I heard good things about her, but was surprised at her treatment of myself and my husband for being non-fluent English speakers. I do have an accent, but I can understand a person who speak naturally, and do not need to be treated like someone who is learning English only using simple words, and fake expressions. I felt like a child when talking to her. We tried voicing our concerns, but she was not interested in hearing our worries, but interrupted and said, " I'm sorry but I have other patients to see, are you done?" I felt cold, and a bit embarrassed for choosing her. I looked at my husband, and knew from his expression, that we needed to go where we felt more accepted, and we did. I really can't prove that because of my ethnicity that she treated me the way she did, but I would not encourage other women of Hispanic origins to be welcomed by her. I really don't like writing bad reviews, but since arriving in the U.S. I am learning that I would of never been able to do this in El Salvador, and I need to make my voice heard. What even confused me more was that she explained to be a woman's advocate, even sharing her experience of hand delivering a note for women's rights to Senator Warren of MASS. I wish her well, but also wish that the staff would go through classes on patient cultural diversity acceptance. read more
