We had the Truffled Mushroom Risotto (5/5) and the Prime Striploin (5/5), as well as tiramisu and creme brulee for dessert. Truffled Musshroom Risotto had shavings of the wild mushrooms. The dish had the rich aroma of the truffles which we delightfully indulged ourselves with. I highly recommend ordering this dish because no other place makes it quite like Via Allegro. Prime Striploin was cooked to perfection. It was so tender and juicy. We liked how they didn't have it with any gravy, letting their culinary technique with the steak speaks for itself. The potatoes were nice and crispy on the outside, yet smooth on the inside. The vegetables were cooked nicely. The desserts were satisfying, a great way to finish off our meals. We made a reservation for a Friday night for a girls night and we had an amazing experience. This is my first time traveling to Etobicoke to have Italian fine dining. We ordered whole brazino and half lobster pasta. The whole fish is tasteful, more favorable than most of the restaurants. The lobster is not bad, but maybe we have high hopes, so it does not really meet my expectations. The pasta has enough sauce, but it is still a bit dry. The waiter is attentive and offers complimentary dessert for special occasion. I will come back again for the hot seafood platter and whole duck risotto. read more

Decorations and layout are great. Chairs are comfortable. Service staff well dressed and are trying to be sophisticated and higher end. The staff is fine but they are lacking a bit of polish to get them over the top to be truly high end. Menu prices are high. Quality of food is fine and portion sizes were appropriate but at these price points we should be getting near-Michelin quality food. In general the food was a touch salty. But still good. Had the calamari (nice and love the thin fried potatoes it came with), sea bass (ok but skin was cold?) and rack of lamb (good portion but not as tender as expected). Overall decent. Haven't been there for almost 25 years. Delighted to have my family join me this time. We had the calamari, Margarita pizza, bolognese, the Bronzino, and brussel sprouts. Between the appetizer and main course we were offered berry sorbet to freshen our palates and also some focaccia after ordering (came with some creamy paste topped w tapanade for dipping). Wow! You are guaranteed a lovely evening when you have dinner at Via Allegro Ristorante. It not just a meal, it's an experience! Here is the breakdown: The service (5/5) - they checked up on us regularly, made good recommendations and we felt they truly wanted us to have a good time. Ambiance (5/5) - we sat in the patio and it was great! Side note: they even have little stools for your purse/ bags. The food: For appetizers we got: lamb ribs (6/5) - so juicy and flavorful! Truffled Gnocchi Fries (5/5) - this is actually a side and worked great as a shared snack on the table. For mains: Chilean Sea Bass (5/5) - incredible! Tender and full of flavor. Truffled Mushroom Risotto (5/5) - this was a huge portion! I would almost recommend it as a shared side as it was a lot of carbs! Really good though! Food: 4.5 stars Mushroom risotto (5 stats) Even though at first impression it was a bit watery, it was amazing. The mushrooms and the rice with truffle sauce was meshing amazingly. Napolitan mixed braised - 3 meat (3 stars) None of the meat was amazing, or even good, the sausage and the meatballs were below average. The ribs were flavourful, but a bit over done. Rabbit pappardelle (4 stars) Lots of fresh herbs and spices. Ok amount of meat. The people who ordered it enjoyed it, I tried and going it to ok. The rissoto I had might have overpowered the taste of it. Tre pigs pizza (5 stats) A great mixture of toppings. For 6 people with a bottle of wine, the bill came to 430$. This includes automated gratitude which was not clearly disclosed. Service: 3.5 stars We had empty glasses throughout the night. We had to ask for them to be filled even though they walked by our table a few times. We came to celebrate a special occasion with another couple. All I can say was the food was outstanding. The wait staff were courteous, efficient, and very knowledgeable. They have a TOME size book for wines and liquors/whiskeys. They have a wine and whiskey sommelier. The food is worth the price and the portions large. I started with a truffle steak tartar...melted in my mouth. My usbamd had the sardines. We had a tagliatelle bolognese as our primo and then followed with the whole Branzino. My husband had the Chilean sea bass. Both were great! We finished with tiramisu. They have a great selection of ports and the cocktails were great. Via Allegro is definitely a class act. I love the whole vibe from the alfresco to the spectacular bar. There is a basic wine list at the table but if you want to see the entire list, it is unbelievable. The gigantic hardbound tome of wonder lists not just a very large quantity of wines from every region of Italy and around the world, but the quality of each wine is top-notch and chosen with care and knowledge. The sommelier will be happy to help you find that special bottle. Now onto the food. Via Allegro takes traditional Italian cuisine and presents it with flair and expertise. Every dish is flavourful and authentic. A wide variety of choices will appeal to every taste. Just one word of caution: this is a higher priced restaurant and worth every dollar in my opinion but we saw a group of people leave after looking at the menu, no doubt after seeing the prices of the entrees. Most are above $30. Some way higher. But if you are celebrating a special occasion and you want to live it up a bit and perhaps even impress a special someone, you won't be disappointed. Took a chance walking in here since we took a stop in the neighborhood, and we got drawn in with the fancy Italian name. The only thing worth paying for is the beautiful ambiance and huge selection of whiskey. Everything else is a joke. We started off with some apps and drinks to test the waters before diving into the meal. I'm glad we went with our gut and stopped there. The calamari with angel hair doesn't make sense, it's all dough and the lemon couldn't save the bland taste. We also had a disappointing serving of baked Brussel sprouts that offered meager portions of bacon to hope that you forget that you're eating pre-boiled salty sprouts. Came here to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The ambiance of this restaurant is classy and with the dimmed lighting made it hard to read the menus! Thank god for our phone LED lights! The wine selection is one of the biggest in the GTA I must say! The wine menu looked more like a King James Bible! The wine sommelier Wendy was very helpful in helping us to decide what we wanted. We started with several appetizers and they were devoured by our hungry group. For the mains, I had the long bone ribeye, my wife, the Truffle Risotto (which was excellent), my son (salmon.. which was great), our friend had the gnocchi, very tasty indeed! They made a couple of mistakes with the ribeye as our friend's was done too rare for his liking but they quickly rectified it and came back to keep reporting to us that it is being redone and will be served to us very shortly. Lots of extras like free Foie Gras appetizer, dessert and champagne! The polenta plate was a great appetizer! Had a tour of the wine cellar as well, very informative indeed! Had heard a lot about this place and was very excited to try it. It is in a strip mall - right next to a staples. In fact the lit up sign shows "egro" as all the letters have burnt out. The interiors reminded me of those old steakhouses in NYC made infamous with mafia history. The place is noisy and bustling and the staff, although super efficient were a little cold. The food was good. We ordered the carpaccio to share and it arrived in under 5 mins. The wine list is very impressive and we selected a great Pinot noir from Italy. For mains I ordered the platinum risotto and my SO ordered the veal and tiger shrimps. His risotto was excellent but mine was definitely over seasoned. The tiramisu was great too. For many years I have driven by and or been told by others that I MUST try this place. Finally I took the opportunity to visit Via Allegro on New Years Eve. Now as im sure you have read in some of my other reviews im Italian and the amount of Italian restaurants I've been to is insane so I will take a lot to WOW me. So as you can see I've given Via Allegro 5 stars. Right from when we entered until when we left the service was hands down. We all know how busy New Years Eve can be. The only real complaint I can say is that they only take visa or cash not debit. That's just a minor detail and not worth loosing points over. There was 4 of us so we ordered 4 different apps and 4 entrees so of course we all had a taste of each others dishes. All food was cooked to perfection and each bite was an explosion of flavors. Overall, a good Italian restaurant choice in the west end if you don't want to head into the bustle of Toronto. A former top rated restaurant, which has lost a step or two over the decades - I was last here about 13 years in the tail end of the restaurant's heyday. Food: We ordered the calamari and Tres Pig pizza as a starter. Calamari with angel hair fries was better of the two. Pizza was as expected, decent, but would not recommend. We ordered the Duck Risotto and "By the Sea in Amalfi - Cavatelli". Both were good but not exceptional. Wine list is absolutely massive and more on the expensive side. Sommelier is knowlegable and helps navigate the wine list. Let us try a few wines before choosing. We had a $80 bottle of Langhe Nebbiolo. In the area, a good choice versus the big box chains nearby or finer dining in Sherway mall (ie Cactus Club, Keg) Atmosphere is better than one would expect from the outside, as it is located in a strip mall across from Sherway gardens. The decor is definitely on the fine dining side and lighting appropriately dim but not dark.
