During a recent visit to the Alamo city, I was looking for transportation from the airport to…read moredowntown and people suggested that I NOT use the shuttle. There were some complaints about not showing up, delayed rides, etc. But if I'm anything, I'm obstinate, so when I arrived at the airport I walked immediately to the San Antonio Shuttle counter and ordered a ticket. The ticket person was quick and the shuttle was underway in five minutes. They dropped me off right at the hotel front door and the price is one flat fee. When I was ready to leave, I could book my reservation online in about 2 minutes. You can even book the time you want to be picked up in 30 minute intervals. I selected 6:30 am (egads), and the shuttle arrived at 6:32 and had me in the airport in 20 minutes. Not too shabby. There are a few quibbles. The pricing does appear to be somewhat variable, although not in a bad gouge-the-consumer sort of way. At the airport and on their website they promoted $18 as the price of a one-way ticket and they charged me $18 to go downtown and $17 to head back to the airport. (There is a reduced price if you book both ways ahead of time.) Also, the bus (it's actually a van) that picked me up was labeled "San Antonio Tours" and I was wondering if they were going to take me past the missions on the way to the airport. The third quibble would be that it was easy to make the booking online, but when they arrived to pick me up from the hotel, they asked to see my paper receipt. I told them that I had the confirmation e-mail on my phone, but couldn't print it out. This caused a few moments consternation, but after I showed them the e-mail and the driver consulted with her boss on the phone, they accepted this. Viva la 21st century!

This place has some works of art that showcase the character of the San Antonio west side, with murals, sculpture, and mosaics. The place is huge, with lots of places to sit and read, and wait for your bus. The departure points are clearly displayed, with signs showing the estimated time of arrival for various bus routes. There's an air conditioned waiting room where you can get out of the sun and have a seat and wait for your bus, with drinking fountains and restrooms. There's plans to put in a small coffee shop, but that hasn't materialized yet. This is normally a rough side of downtown, but there's a healthy police presence here to make sure that things don't get too rough. I was happy to see that there are plenty of places to relax, and lots of bike racks also! I've heard that there are plans to ultimately offer a rail service out of this plaza, but we're not there yet.

All because she had too many so called no shows, which caused her to have to use another transportation service and made it hard to get important things done for her. This is the first time it's happened. I believe they should at least give more chances for missed rides, to at least 5 no shows instead of 3. She also missed rides back in June because the weather was very hot. And I thought the automated call says during hot weather days to stay indoors until the ride arrives for the hot weather protocol. That's what she does until I can see the ride and go tell her that the ride is here. Then I try my best to help assist her to the van. She doesn't like to wait outside and feels uncomfortable waiting at the curb entrance on Pinn rd. And we live in the middle of the apartment complex, not near the front of the apartments. That's another reason why she misses the rides sometimes.

Greyhound buses are comfortable and these days they have wifii and outlets. This station has wifi and bathrooms, so it's pleasant to wait here. It used to have a small cafteria. Now nothing occupies the former cafteria space. Maybe I wish it still had this cafteria.. Sometimes when traveling, hot food is a luxury, so a cafeteria could be nice. Maybe they could have stuff like a nice size order of French Fries for $2.50. So Greyhound, kindly consider bringing the cafeteria back. I love how this place facilities one of the most exciting experiences on Earth: travel, so this station gets 4 stars.

In early July, they stranded their customers in Pasco, Washington due to poor maintenance and negligence, then refused to refund them. This is a company that does not care about its customers and has no sense of ethics. They caused emotional distress to an 8-month-pregnant woman during this incident.

I took my first trip on MegaBus from San Antonio to Dallas a while back. Sure, you can get there…read morequicker in a car, but the amount of time on the bus wasn't too much longer. It only took us 5 hours and 25 minutes to get from the pickup point in SA to the drop off point in Dallas. Since COVID times, rider attendance is down, so they don't seem to be using the double decker buses with the tables facing each other. It was a standard Greyhound type bus contracted out of Kerrville, but we were able to sleep and watch Netflix on their free WiFi, and take advantage of their power plugs. Both 110V standard plugs for laptops, as well as USB charging ports. The bus even had a restroom for the 5 hour trip, and the bus was clean and in good shape. Tickets from San Antonio to Dallas are only $32.54 - one way (including taxes, fees, etc.). You just can't beat that with a stick! Keep in mind that they will make a stop in Austin to drop people off and board additional passengers. The driver announced that it would be a 10 minute stop, but it was closer to 30 minutes. Regardless, we still made it to DFW ahead of schedule. Pickup and drop off spots: San Antonio - just a big old parking lot. No indoor waiting area, so don't show up too early. Austin- it looks like they have an indoor facility but it was closed by the time we got there. Dallas - drop off - located at Fuel City, which is a popular food and party place on late Saturday nights. I hope I don't have to use this service again any time soon, but it's good to know it's there if you need it! I would use it again if necessary. Good value!

The driver made no apology or comment about being a full 15 minutes late from when the window expired. Even when I remarked that I was getting worried about missing my flight, he was literally silent. What made matters worse was that he still had another stop after mine, which meant I arrived at the airport only 45 minutes before my flight (if I had been checking luggage I wouldn't have made my flight) - even though I used the pick-up window recommended by SuperShuttle. As it was I had to run through the terminal to get through security and make it to my gate in time. This experience was coupled by the fact that when I arrived in San Antonio four days ago the gal working at the airport around 9pm was curt, rude, dismissive, and just generally unpleasant. So much so I opted to take a cab instead of having to deal with her! Bottom line, this is the worse airport shuttle I have ever used and I would never use it again!
