I have never had a response to my request to close the account and reimburse my credit card. I had a very good experience with this company. The process was extremely simple, transparent and easy. Leslie Lewis took care of my registration and she was simply amazing, She made the process so seamless that everything was set up in a few minutes and after paying she still kept answering all my questions, she was not there only to close me and then forget about me, she gave me and my family and amazing after sales service. If you are considering cord blood storing I recommend Viacord 100%. I signed a contract with Viacord for both blood and tissue sample, unfortunately I wasn't able to send them the tissue sample and they automatically corrected that on their system without any questions and charged me what was due only for blood. I did my due diligence and read every other review. Most people complain after they ask to stop the service, but in most cases it is because those clients didn't follow the correct procedure. When I read my contract it clearly sates that there are regulations and procedures enforced by the FDA and other organizations that forbid coord blood to be destroyed without the proper documentation and authorizations. I sell cars for a living and I try to give my best to every single client. That's why I appreciate when I receive an extraordinary service from someone. You should be very careful. When you decide that after more than a decade of paying for this less than useful service they will send you lots of threatening letters. Once they are done with that and trying to extort additional fees from you they will then send you to a collections agency. Buyer beware. I mistakenly thought I cancelled my account prior to the annual storage fee. When I checked my bank account and realized there was a hold from them, I contacted customer service (which doesn't exist as I later found out) to cancel and request a refund. John D. in billing said ViaCord can't refund once a payment is processed. Putting aside the absurdity of that claim, I explained that the payment was not yet processed; I called my bank and they said it was only a hold. He said I needed to speak to his supervisor, Gene. Gene told me the same thing and there was "nothing they could do". I explained that I was willing to pay for a pro-rated month of storage fees (despite it only being 11 days into the month), but that I wasn't going to pay for the entire year for a service I didn't want because of their arbitrary policy and false claim that they can't void the transaction. They are snake oil salesmen. Their service is a falsehood and their practices are deceptive. I was a customer for 4 years and spent hundreds of dollars, but they were willing to burn all their good will just to squeeze an extra annual storage fee from me. My wife and I welcomed our little girl a month early and as a result didn't have time to research cord blood and cord tissue storage options prior to our arrival. The hospital provided us with ViaCords info when we arrived. We signed up for ViaCord while my wife was in labor and agreed to pay the upfront costs and first year of storage that day via phone with our Credit Card. 3 months later my credit card was charged another $75. I didn't receive any notification from ViaCord (no bill, no receipt, no explanation), I only knew I was charged after looking at my bank statement. When I called to ask what the charge was for no one at ViaCord could explain it to me, I called back daily for 2 weeks and couldn't get an explanation. I had to dispute the charge, and they obviously couldn't explain the charge to the bank as it was resolved in my favor. Now I receive daily calls from their finance department stating I owe them $75. It's been 4 months and I still can't get an explanation. I talked to the finance department who informed me "we don't provide copies of invoices". AKA they can charge you for what ever they like, or change the price later. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING FROM THEM. Don't trust the sales reps on the phone. The unfortunate part is they now hold my daughters stem cells and in a sense are holding us hostage. They are happy to make us pay what ever they deem appropriate. Had to replace the credit card on file, but wife made the mistake of doing it over the phone with Viacord customer service. No sooner than a day later our credit card got hit with numerous Lyft charges and Prepaid Verizon cards. I really hope Visa and Viacord flush out this bad operator who is skimming customer credit card numbers. ViaCord charged way too much and it is my fault for not looking into more companies before we did this. They charged $3500 to take the blood and the cord. I was ok with that, now they have sent two bills. One for the cord storage and one for the blood storage a total of $275. I was told it would be $150 a year after the initial amount. Oh, but if you pay up front for 25 years it is a discount of 25% at $5000+. Look into another company and read reviews before jumping into it. read more

We contacted ViaCord about 10 years ago to cancel our service. We didn't think about them until about a year ago when we got a letter demanding payment. I called and explained that we should not have a bill because we canceled our service. They said if I had canceled my service it would have shown up in their system. Here is something... How would I know my call was not in the system from 10 years ago? I just got a demand for payment or this is going to escalate. This place is praying on young families who want to do the right thing for their children. I am shocked they are able to promote this in hospitals. I've called numerous cord banking places today to get pricing. By far the most unfriendly place I called. He never even said congrats or asked about any personal info. This place is a joke. I really wish I would have researched more before my first child. I wanted my second child's cord blood and tissue with my first but they FORCE you to get the advanced processing in order to get any kind of discount. They are way over priced and their customer service is terrible! I am so disappointed with this company it really brings me to tears. One of the most important decisions I made when it comes to the future health and well being of my baby boy and I chose wrong. Being the fact that I myself have a history of a blood type cancer it was pretty obvious that I would preserve my baby's blood. The courier that arrived to pick up the product was wearing basketball shorts and flip flops and had no ID, he was very unprofessional. It surprised me that a company as big as Viacord would allow that to be there face. My husband delivered the package to him unfortunately, if it were me I would never have left it with the courier. My husband asked the guy if he knew how to seal the package and he said no I have no clue. The guy was pretty gangster and even the hospital staff were surprised. My husband told me about this after he left so the next day I called Viacord to pay my bill and share my experience. They were deeply concerned and said a manager would call me right away. After waiting 4 days I have gotten no such phone call. I was also told I would get a recipient 24 hours after the payment went through and that did not happen as well. Waited for the weekend to pass to see why I didn't get a receipt nor a call from a manager, the rep said she notated on my account. When I asked her if they run blood type tests or anything that would indicate they actually got my blood she told they don't do that and that I should rest assure knowing they have my blood (don't understand how I can do that being the fact that they already made so many promises they did not follow through with). I will disputing there services unless I can get proof that they in fact hold my baby's blood. Regardless I would stay away from this company. This is a criminal operation who, should you ever actually need their help, are incapable of promising anything even close to what they say they deliver. Once you are 'pregnant' with their scam, they have a process where they don't bill you directly, they just send your account to a collection agency called Windham which is staffed with shockingly rude, hostile and uninformed personnel. Avoid this scam at all costs, I cannot believe there has not been more federal oversight on this crooked organization to shut them down. I fully paid the cord storage for my daughter in 2006 for 20+1 years in advance. Viacord apparently does not keep their records in order: they are now trying to collect additional storage fees that I do not owe until the year of 2027! We moved and gave them new address 3 years ago, paid latest yearly fee last year (2016 - 2nd year from new address), but this year we haven't received invoice, so we called them, and they completely messed up our address, saying now we live in Kansas (but we never did). When my children were born I signed each of them up for cord blood storage. Now my daughter is 18 and has shown no signs of any medical need to continue storing the blood. After consulting with research doctors, I found that they are skeptical at the viability of the stored blood after so many years. I chose to cancel my oldest daughter's cord blood storage when she was 16. I specifically called the company and told them which accounts I would pay for and which I would not. They never mentioned a "termination agreement" needed to be signed. My daughter is now 18, and the company has stored my credit card number and has continued taking payment for ALL of the children's blood storage. When I called them, they would not reimburse me the amount I did not want paid, nor would they even mention that I needed to sign a "termination agreement" in order to terminate the storage until I spoke to their moron supervisor "Gene". I never authorized them to keep my card number on file, nor did I authorize them to automatically pay for the storage. Further, when I pointed out that I did not authorize them to keep my card number on file, nor did I authorize the payments, they are trained to act as if they are confused and that you are the one not making sense. Be very leery of this disreputable company. Apparently, cord blood storage is no longer in vogue and they are trying to milk whatever customers they had for whatever they can. I am very upset with my Viacord experience. We did not renew our storage contract. We were hounded with calls to pay the annual storage fee. We were informed we had to sign a release..We did. They continued to call. We contacted them, they apologized said it was an error. The Reviews below are not accurate. ViaCord has a great customer service team that is always working 24 hours a day. They always have someone there to answer a call. I called at 3 am to test this and there was someone there. Try it for yourself! The company is backed by a huge life sciences company called perkinelmer, so you know these cells will be there in the future. I can't believe that people actually read the reviews below and make their decisions based on a review placed by a family that most likely did not perform their duties for the services. When you research you will see that viacord is more expensive than alot of the providers but it is for a reason! The are actually extracting the stem cells. Other providers are saving blood and a piece of cord. They have the technology to extract the cells, that is where the research and the medicine is. Do not waste your money with another smaller or marketing friendly bank! Leading industry providers will always be more expensive but you get what you pay for. If you want to go with a company that is 2000 for 20 years of storage included, I say good luck because you just got beat for 2000. In the long run you will be happy you chose viacord.
