Gave 5 stars previously for the food and drink but had to drop two stars because of the recent service. A relatively new guy working there has been extremely rude several times. Last time when I got the wrong order (I cannot handle caffeine but they'd mixed up the order and instead of cocoa I got coffee)...and I very gently asked if he could check the order. He found I had been given the wrong drink then YELLED at me it isn't his fault He poured the drink down the drains and with a lot of attitude and anger prepared the proper drink. I couldn't drink it with those bad Vibes so gave it to my friend who stared in disbelief at what just happened. And others at the tables too stared in disbelief at his bad vibe! I like the food and drinks and have been coming regularly for many years but haven't been back since and don't want to be back until he is gone. The vibe food is served with matters as it infuses the particles we eat and I want good vibes only in my body. If the owners read this please take action. When I first found this place a few years ago they were entirely plant based. I just recently visited again and realized there were now only 1 or 2 plant based options on the menu. How much do you love avocado toast? Because if you do, you'll need to stop here. Not once, but multiple times to sample every iteration they create. Today I had the Caprese, and although I usually eat paleo, I figured the sourdough would probably be ok on my tummy. Not any sourdough, though. Ulu sourdough! And not just ulu sourdough, but an inch thick slice of toasty goodness topped with a liberal slather of avocado. The deliciously tart balsamic set it off perfectly, and they even have vegan cheddar (although truly the mozzarella would've been perfect, I didn't want to tempt fate by eating both grain and dairy in the same sitting)! Oh, did I mention that they have an extensive list of exotic beverages that will make you want to keep earning points for use on return visits? They also have a pleasant seating area with friendly staff who will answer questions about menu items. Oh it's definitely a vibe- one where the one person manning the restaurant didn't want to be there. I called for food- he was definitely not interested in providing us w an alternative for the loco moco- when asked about online option so we don't have to trouble him with what to order- a flat " not in service". Got there 232pm, only to go order and that was fine my daughter said she wanted to sit outside. But I guess he heard that and said he'll be taking them in at 2pm but that we're ok for now. Not impressed w the dry ass pasty grilled cheese for my kids. Customer service is enough to keep me away from this place. read more

Totally struck out here! When planning my visit to Hawaii I flagged Vibe Cafe as a spot to visit to try their vegan loco moco. When we arrived for dinner the first night we saw they are sold out of a bunch of items! Including their loco moco - we didn't return the next morning because of this. They are apparently working on changing their menu items in the very near future. The menu online is not updated but the online ordering one is. Unfortunately everything we had our eyes (and stomachs) set on was on the sold out list. I ended up deciding on the strawberry seitan gorgonzola salad which despite not being sold out they were out of seitan! So again I settled on the beet poke bowl to try something unique and different. Some flavors I liked, some I didn't like, so it made a meh meal for my taste buds. My husband got the Big Nasty - it came with a side of potato chips, not enough bbq sauce (no worries, they gave us extra), and very strange faux bacon that felt filmy and I couldn't bite through it when I tried a bit. Our friend got the jackfruit nachos - loaded plate, he wasn't too impressed overall but the cashew queso is on point. Clean place with a hipster vibe, wasn't busy when we arrived, service was nice and relatively quick with the food. Would love to visit again after they get their menu transition sorted out. read more

Stopped in on a hot, sunny Saturday for a refreshing treat. It's a cute little cafe and the server who helped us was very pleasant. We got the Sunrise Acai bowl without the pineapple and papaya (seasonal fruit) -- just the way we like it. I like that the açaí is more like a sorbet than a smoothie and it was very flavorful. They also did not skimp on the toppings, so this is definitely a new favorite. We shared the açaí bowl between two people, but we could've easily eaten one each. I almost took away one star just because one açaí bowl was nearly $20 (which cost more than our lunch!), but I realize that may be the going rate for fresh smoothies/açaí bowls these days. read more

I am not a vegan, but I'm always willing to try new food spots! You would never be able to tell this has no real meat/dairy! I tried the Vegan Jackfruit Nachos and Vegan Beet Poke Bowl. Both were great! The cashew queso on the nachos was delicious! I could dip everything in that! The jackfruit really mimicked the texture and taste of pork. For the beet poke bowl, I'm really surprised I enjoyed it as I normally can't stand beets! The mixture of the beets with the sesame oil, all the veggie toppings, and the vegan wasabi mayo was so tasty! I've tried a few vegan/vegetarian spots and this is definitely a unique spot and I'm a fan! I'll definitely be back! read more

Pulled into this place in the evening not sure what to think since we aren't vegans but were down to try something new. Ordered the jackfruit nachos an big nasty burger. Nachos - everything was amazing!! Jackfruit tasted like pulled pork, the texture and taste was on point. They put cashew queso on the nachos (We love cashew queso and make it at home). It is pretty spicy so just be aware if you aren't a huge spice fan. It was too spicy for my husband but he still finished the whole plate . Big nasty - I've never had vegan bacon before and it wasnt so bad. It still wasn't bacon but the texture, crisp and taste wasn't too bad. The meatless party was the best I've ever had. Texture, taste, consistency...wow! 10/10 recommend. Both meals were hearty, we left full but didn't feel heavy or bloated. My husband raved about this place on his last visit to Hilo so when we visited Hilo I had to try it. Now he is not one to actively seek out vegetables on a menu let alone a whole restaurant dedicated to them. We ordered the lavender lemonade, Lilikoi lemonade, Acai Bowl, Vegan Jackfruit "pulled Pork" Street Tacos, and jackfruit nachos. I was surprised at how sweet the lavender lemonade was. And it had a very pungent lavender taste. The Lilikoi lemonade was a lot better! The açaí bowl was huge and had so much good stuff in it. The jackfruit on the nachos and tacos was subpar. My husband even mentioned it was different from the last time. We think it was fresh last time because this time it had a slight tang and bitter taste to it from being in a can or jar. It did nothing for the taco to the point that we both tried one and couldn't eat the third. The cabbage plain and the onions spicy not pickled. The bitter tangy jackfruit was overpowering with a smoke flavor that was very abrasive to my taste buds. Like they were trying to hard to make it smoked. The nachos with cheese and toppings were good, just not with the jackfruit on it. I would have to try other items but the jackfruit was so disappointing. Service was ok. Seemed like the waitress was happy at the beginning but by the end irritated. We got our waters after the second ask. And we're not given utensils or napkins, except the one spoon that was provided with our açaí bowl. I am not sure how much they service but we ordered from our table after being sat so I would assume that we would be provided with items to eat with. I've been wanting to come to Vibe for over a year. The fact that it is still open after over a year means people like this place and it seems to be doing well. It's nice small place with a mixture of tables (both low and high) and live music (yes!!!! keep it up). There are various choices for food and most contain jack fruit as a substitute for meat. It looks like meat but it doesn't have the texture or the flavor of meat, but it does taste good. Most choices have black beans or avocado mixed in which makes it even more filling. But lets talk about the taste, IT'S GREAT! This place is not afraid to spice it up. The jalapeño dressing is spicy. The taco "sauce" is spicy and sweet and delicious. The portions are generous, the price good! This place puts other "vegetarian" health places to shame. I recently ate at a "healthy" place in the mainland but the taste was so lacking. Not here! Whoever is doing the cooking is masterful. Every dish was delicious and even the drinks that my family ordered tasted great! There are hardly any negatives to this place. About the only negative is that they can use some acoustic treatment in the place since the talking starts "ringing" in the place and along with the music generates a huge cacophony of sound. Some simple acoustic treatment would fix this. I can't wait to go back. One of my favorite places in Hilo and certainly one of the best, if not the best vegetarian place I have ever eaten. My friends and I came twice during our three days in Hilo. I enjoyed most of our drinks that we got: - Ube latte: was probably our favorite among all of us. We orders multiples of these. - Latte with macadamia nut milk and honey: another delicious one that I drank for caffeine - Lilikoi lemonade: so delicious. We got this complimentary because I signed up for and ordered off of the app. I didn't love the customer service here. Two of the ladies here were very friendly, but there was one in particular (dyed pink ish hair) who was just generally unpleasant. During our first visit, our to-go drinks were very hot, so we asked for drink sleeves and the nice lady said they did not have any, so she offered to double cup each hot drink. During our second visit, we asked if each hot drink could be double cupped. The second nice lady agreed. As we waited in our car for our (very large) order to be completed, the woman with the dyed pink hair came out and told us that they could not double cup our drinks because the cups are expensive. While I understand that expenses can be an issue, so is the possibly of injury! She didn't offer to make our drinks slightly less hot until I expressed my concern that the drinks are too hot to carry. Unclear why they don't get drink sleeves. Regardless, my biggest issue was her general rude tone and unpleasant demeanor. During this visit, I also slammed my leg into a chair by the checkout counter, which seemed to be an odd area to place a chair. The pink hair girl said, "That's not supposed to be there," but also never bothered to move the chair. By the time we got our drinks (15-20 min later), the chair was still there so I went back inside and tried to tell the nicer lady that I believe the chair to be a hazard and that I recommend that it be moved, so no one else gets hurt. While I was explaining this, pink hair girl nastily says, "the little girl in front of you in line put it there. We didn't." Honestly, I didn't care who put it there -- I was trying to be a good citizen and let them know, so that no other customers would get hurt. So pathetic that she would blame the little girl and she still didn't bother to apologize or acknowledge that it would be moved. If I had been in Hilo another day, I would've found another place to go. BAD VIBES. read more

Awesome place in Hilo to go for Vegans. I did a quick search after picking up Mochi at Two Ladies for my friends who I'm staying with in Oahu and found this place on my way to Volcano National Park.... Friendly employees (I assume employees) and very good food and service. I got a Beet "Poke" Bowl and it was so refreshing and fresh to eat and relax there and enjoy. Spoke to the gals working and they were awesome to just talk to and friendly especially for some crazy non-local coming in. I asked for something to go as well since I wouldn't have time to get food after I drove to the Volcano and drive the 2.5 hour drive back to my hotel in Kona side of the Big Island.... I can't find it on the menu but it was some type of Chipotle "Chicken" wrap a bit on the spicy side but overall good to eat about 5 to 6 hours after I ordered it much like I asked... Next time I head to Big Island I'm definitely coming back here to try some other things.... read more
