I give this shop a 5/5 for coffee and truly the amazing VIBE. It is sooo cute inside - definitely a go to spot for a yummy cup of coffee while on the island. The food wasn't too impressive, more so if you're not used to the acquired taste that is vegan food (mostly my dad and brother were not fans of the food). I had the vegan loco moco and although it had good flavor, it wasn't my cup of tea. Overall I LOVED their coffee and especially the healthy "latte" alternatives that all had amazing flavor combos. I want to like this place for their food Their interpretation and presentation is very nice representing the breakfast nacho with vegan alternatives of eggs, cheese, cheese sauce along with the gluten free chips and black beans. The egg alternative had great texture similar to a tofu crumble but when I got into the plate the overwhelming amount of salt made it an unpleasant experience I was further disappointed when my lavender latte was served which took quite a long time to make and ended up being luke warm at best Maybe they should stay with the fresh fruits and açaí presentation and reevaluate the seasoning used in their vegan interpretation of other dishes read more

Vibe Cafe is an aesthetic spot. It's fun to be there, with fun music, art, and even a few local pieces you can buy. We stopped by for a late lunch and some coffee. I was very hungry, so the wait was a little much for me with the few people that were in the shop. I loved my coffee. It was really delicious and came in a glass jar which is always fun. The food wasn't my favorite. I say that knowing I ordered the wrong thing for me. What my mom ordered looked tasty. Stopped here on our way out of town, great location on the highway near airport. Don't know if I'd notice it absent Yelp. Spouse got an acai bowl, I had caffe late. All good. I saw a lot of amazing pictures at VIBE and was super excited to try this place when coming to Hilo. However, it was not exactly what I was expecting. The workers were nice, and told us that there would be a long wait for our food. I didn't mind waiting since we were there already, and she let us sit at a table outside. The inside of the restaurant looked very clean, and I liked the style of it. Vibe had a lot of vegan options, but honestly the food was overpriced for the portion size. I had the vegan beet "poke" bowl and also got to try the vibe breakfast toast and the vegan jackfruit "pulled pork" street tacos. I felt that some of the food lacked flavor. The beets in the poke bowl weren't really seasoned, and the only thing adding flavor to the poke bowl was the mayo. I do appreciate the quality of ingredients though. I had a bite of the breakfast toast. The fake meat had a weird after taste. The street tacos were okay, just a little spicy for me. If you're vegan and wanting to try loco moco, this is your spot. I ordered the vegan tofu breaky-scramble, and my boyfriend got the loco moco. We also had coffee, which was average. I enjoyed the tofu scramble, but unfortunately the toast that came with my meal was dry unless I slathered it in butter. The gravy for the loco moco was savory and well made, but I'm not a big fan of the beyond burger it came with (just personal burger preference). it was our first time here but we were extremely impressed. I got the lavender lemon drop and hubby had a beer. We wanted to find a chill place to grab a quick bite and some drinks- this place had what we wanted. The menu is 98% vegan but don't let that stop you from coming. We got the nachos (spicy) and it was amazing! The jackfruit was cooked in a way that was spicy and tasty. I'm usually not a fan of nachos but I think these are my favorites. The cashew butter and delicious- everything was fresh and a the chips were so crunchy yet not oily. We stopped in here while we were on vacation in Hawaii because I was specifically looking for a place that was vegetarian friendly and on the healthier side. Boy, did we hit the jack pot when we stumbled upon VIBE. We walked in to a light space, and there was even a live band playing in the corner, who were quite good. They have a spacious bar you can sit at, as well as seating inside and out. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The entire time I was in there all I felt were positive vibes. The food we had was really good too. I really appreciated the BBQ "brisket" sandwich, as the meat replacement was pretty novel and I thought tasted great. I also tried their toast of the day, which I found to be very filling and also very tasty. My husband got the beet salad, and I was impressed at the portion size. We also enjoyed some bubble tea. First time on the Big Island and Vibe made the list as we were searching for places to check out during our stay. First all the GREAT things: the service was great, the wifi strong, and, of course, the VIBE was great. The only thing that I was not totally sold on was the food and coffee. Now, this could certainly be because I am not a vegan, but both the drinks and food were not quite my cup of tea. To be clear, not bad tasting, but just not awesome to me. GENERAL NOTE TO DEMANDING TOURISTS: If you are going to be impatient, please go to the beach until you can breathe a bit or go somewhere less local. Do us all a favor, and keep the snide comments and complaints to yourself 'cause locals have enough crappy environmental and cultural tourist impact to deal with as it is. I was visiting from out of town and I wanted to support a local business so I ordered sandwiches, salads and smoothies to go and this place says they don't carry straws, nor takeout disposable silverware because they don't want to carry plastic...there are plenty of sustainable straws and silverware if this business chooses to be eco conscious but not having any silverware for to go orders is just simply unacceptable. Not only that they didn't fulfill our order and we never got our sandwich which we ordered. They also didn't give us any napkins with our to go order and when we called them they tried to tell us how they weren't responsible for not providing any napkins, silverware, and not giving us our sandwich. It seems like the people who work here are stoned and are completely not in tune with customer needs. I wanted to like this place but unfortunately I had a bad experience. read more

This spot is excellent. The cafe is currently open for takeout and dine-in (outdoor and indoor). It's order at the counter. We tried the following dishes: Cheesy Pesto Pasta (4.5/5): Very tasty pesto dish. Incredibly cheesy, so be aware if that is not your taste. The pesto was really flavorful, and came with meatless chicken, which was also very good. It also came with a side salad. The portions were very large. Fiesta Taco Pizza (5/5): This pizza was amazing. Comes with a chipotle black bean base, mozzarella cheese (can be made vegan, but we got it veg), jackfruit, and a number of other veggies. It was a very tasty pizza, and I would highly recommend this pizza. I also got the ginger mint limeade, which was very tasty. I found this place through Yelp (duh!) and stopped by here on my way to ITO. I was already semi-full from all the unexpected smoothies I had consumed on my run along the Scenic Route but *had to* come by to try their Vegan Loco Moco. Let me say, it was totally worth it!! Knowing that I wouldn't be able to finish, I asked them to pack up half of my entree so I could take it with me on my flight back to SFO. I wish I wasn't already so full so I could try more things but I'll just have to save it for next time. It was really such a pleasure to visit Vibe as this place and their employees live up to their name. The girl who took my order was super sweet and very passionate about plant-based living and ecology. I noticed there was kombucha on tap (yes!!) and lots of CBD products, crafts, tinctures, essential oils and goodies for purchase. At the corner of the main bar, there is a small tray offering free stainless steel free of charge. You can take as many as you like and leave a donation of any amount. Apparently there is someone going around the island leaving these straws in restaurants on a mission to reduce single-use straws. If you happen to see one, be sure to get one of your own or as a gift to cut back on landfill waste! -and leave some funds for the kind soul doing this to help support the cause! As for my vegan loco moco, it totally hit the spot after my 8 mile run in the sun. The "egg" was a slice of seasoned tofu over a veggie beef patty sitting on a bed of brown rice covered in mushroom sauce. I've never had traditional loco moco as I already had stopped eating meat by the time I visited Hawaii so I won't have anything to compare it to... but on its own, it was super tasty! Thankfully I had the other half to enjoy on my flight back home. A side story.... I had flown from ITO to HNL, then had to transfer to a different airline to fly home. While in the shuttle in HNL, I was met with a couple who had to-go containers in their hands. They asked if I had brought my takeout with me all the way from Hilo, which I said yes. I jokingly said they wouldn't be interested in my vegan loco moco but then it turns out they too had stopped by Vibe on their way back from Hilo too!! What a coincidence!! It looks like there are more vegans around how cherish delicious food the way I do. So much in fact they would carry it all the way home from another island! I had originally posted a less than enthusiastic review after our visit here. The service was solid but the food didn't wow us. I'm unable to remove the review entirely as I had hoped to, so here's my updated revision. The owner responded in a constructive, receptive manner, greatly appreciated, always. Spoke to a friend who is a frequent customer, and they insisted their experiences have been overwhelmingly positive. Since anyone can have an off night, I'll assume that's what happened here. Furthermore, when I managed to leave my hat behind (a gift from a friend with tremendous sentimental value), they very graciously offered to ship it to me and refused to allow me to pay for it! Now THAT'S customer service. 5 stars for that all day. We'll give Vibe another try on our next visit. We really did love the drinks. And now I'm in their debt. read more

I question the waitress and she said she does not know but it's only obvious when you dig into it halfway through eating this my throat started feeling sore. Will not be recommending this place again nor coming back. The portion sizes is NOT WORTH the amount you pay for. I go to vibe every single time I come to Hilo! In all honesty I've probably eaten there about 200 times. It's the perfect place to go if you're already vegan/vegetarian. But also the perfect place if you're a meat eater and want to go in for a healthier meal option. They make vegan versions of all your favorite comfort foods and the workers are always friendly and helpful. If you aren't looking for food it's a good stop for local coffee, or fun exciting cocktails. Definitely worth the 5 stars! read more
