I wonder if this is the same owners as the Serendipity that used to be on Orchard Lake and 14 Mile…read more If so, I wouldn't go here unless you're looking for a happy ending. I went there for a job interview as a new massage therapist back in 2006-ish and I literally ran out of the front door and ran across 3 parking lots to get to my then boyfriend, who had gone to the Vitamin Shoppe while he waited for the interview to be over. Something definitely wasn't right with that place and I knew it as soon as they told me I had to massage a dude who walked out of the shower and into the treatment room in just a towel. They didnt ask my name or to see my resume, just told me to go "massage him". Then, left me at the front desk and went into a treatment room and all I heard was giggling and moaning. No, thanks! Not surprised they shut down in West Bloomfield.

This review is real. Some of the things I'm about to share…read moreare going to make you laugh and question if I'm being honest with the review, but I assure you that my experience almost five years ago was so outrageous that I still tell the story to people who need a good laugh. I received a Groupon for an hour and a half massage as a gift and I was very excited to try out a new spa. When I walked in I was greeted by a woman who did not speak very good English. She put me in a room that was so tiny I barely had a place to put my things down. The room had a sheet for a ceiling and the doors were just curtains, which meant I could hear every thing going on around me. This included the front door that would chime every time someone came in. Not only did the door chime constantly during my massage, the woman preforming the massage would stop massaging my back and go help the customers. Yes...this happened! She would set up their appointment, get them situated in another room and then begin my massage again LOL!! The music she played was on a cassette tape player that was placed in the hallway between all the rooms. This was so multiple rooms would be able to hear the music. Not only was the music hard to hear, when the tape needed to be flipped my massage therapist would again leave me and go flip the tape!! LOL During my entire massage the woman was talking in another language to the other therapists who were also performing massages in the rooms next to mine. I guess with the "sheet ceilings" it was a convenient way for them to communicate???! It only gets worse people....when it came time for her to massage my feet with oil she did a decent job UNTIL she went straight from my feet to my FACE!! Yes, my dirty foot oil was then rubbed into my face! LOL I could not even believe it! I tired to explain to her how unsanitary that is but she couldn't understand what I was trying to tell her. At the end of the massage I checked the time to see if I had been given the full 90 minutes and in fact I was only in the room for close to 70 minutes. If you take away all the times she abandoned me, I was probably only given a 45-50 minute massage. I got dressed and went to tip her, which I still to this day have no idea why I did. I offered her $10 dollars and she told me that a 90 minute massage was a $20 tip!!!! I told her that I had no more money and got out of there as fast as I could. So, if you want a gift to send an enemy, or just want to play a prank on someone who loves massages this is your place! They will leave feeling unrelaxed, agitated, and broke :) The word Serendipity means "a fortunate accident", but I assure you that there is nothing fortunate about getting a massage from this place. Enjoy! :)

The estheticians are knowledge and I always walk out feeling super satisfied with the results. The products are organic plant/fruit based and they actually work!! I have been so happy switching out my skincare for Eminence. It's not like a traditional Spa with locker rooms and steam rooms but the house has a nice relaxing feel inside. Very warm, calming and quiet. The only thing that could make this place better is online scheduling.

I had a very unfortunate interaction with the owner. I had a less than satisfactory experience with…read moreone of the massage therapists, it was a very strange massage and was unlike anything I had previously experienced there. First the essential oils placed under my face gave me quite a migraine. I have a herniated disc in my neck which I acknowledge that sometimes that could be an issue but for me this has never been a problem during massages. For some reason she placed several, and I mean several, hot towels on my neck which was immediately pretty painful as this was heavy to be placed with heat on a herniated disc, no matter how healed. Then she quite literally covered me in lotion, like a ridiculous amount where I couldn't even get dressed, barely touched me and ran out of the room, almost before I could even ask her for a towel (I was literally drenched in lotion) and before the session was supposed to be over. So I was left in more pain plus a migraine with a shortened session and covered in lotion, and I did notice that she didn't greet me afterwards to offer me water and make sure I'm doing good like they usually do here. This was all very strange and bizarre, but I assumed maybe this had to do with inexperience and wanted to leave feedback as to why this wasn't the best experience, especially since this is a luxury service that wasn't cheap. The owner called me the next day, and she was genuinely one of the most hostile and unpleasant people I had ever talked to. I am not a confrontational person, and I do think I was being reasonable in leaving feedback. She called me and told me that there is absolutely no way that any of this happened, and that she "welcomes me to not return". I told her that this was unfortunate to hear because I had such positive experiences in the past there, to which she told me I didn't go there enough times to have that much of an opinion. She kept telling me that I am more than welcome to not return, and at this point I wasn't going to but I just wanted her to tell me directly that she was banning me from returning for having a negative experience. She was avoiding saying explicitly that I could not return, but she kept insisting I was welcome to go elsewhere. I told her I would probably leave a review of the situation, to which she said "well that's not very nice of you". I told her it's not very nice to ban me for expressing concerns with my session. She hung up the phone abruptly, and the next day another staff member called and offered to reschedule me with someone else. I politely declined. I also want to mention that the ramp to get in the door is extremely inaccessible, I am a wheelchair user and it's borderline hazardous the way it is oriented. If I am to open the door, I have to be on the ramp which is difficult, or the door will push me down the stairs. If you use a mobility aid or have chronic pain I would not recommend, not because of the staff but 100% because of the owner.

I joined when the gym first opened and I think that it was cleaner then. It still is clean and some of the workers work very hard and are always there. However, often times I will find that the bathrooms or showers are dirty. This was usually a problem when I used to go at night but I also noticed it in the morning once. I love that the steam room is very clean and that they close it to clean it. The pools are really clean too. I dislike that instead of opening the door sometimes the valet guys will just stand there talking with one another. I get it they're young but the least they could do is acknowledge you and attempt to open the door. Sometimes the front desk people say goodbye, other times they don't. Overall, the workers are really kind and the people here are really kind. I also don't like how crowded it gets around 5-7pm. I try to avoid that time. I wish they had made the gym multiple floors when they opened it. I feel as though they'll probably have to expand it in the future or open another one. The reason I love coming to this gym is because of the great classes they offer. The app is very helpful and shows classes throughout the day. Linda is an amazing yoga instructor. When I went to lifetime I'd pay for yoga and the gym separately because I didn't like their classes but here the instructors are all great. I also really like Erica. The cycling classes are great too. I had Alie and she made it really fun and the music was really good too!
