It was an eye opening session for me to see Rudy feel at home with Piano and drums and his instinctive approach to music when Chris motivated him to join in to play the various instruments. For the whole session of half an hour Rudy was giggling, trying out every instrument given to him to try and participated wholly, but the drum set was what made the biggest impression on him. Chris could control his focus issues well and was able to bring him back to the music whenever he drifted away as he is certified in music therapy. She told me how this teacher, Julie interacted with her. Sounded like she was cold, impatient and not engaging. Niko Malek is the opposite. He's kind, patient and very understanding. He's very nice! My child likes him and I can see why. Every time, I listened to her played and getting instructions from him, she sounded impressive. He gives good advice on what instruments to purchase. He's very knowledgeable overall and a great teacher! If my other boys are interested in piano, I would definitely seek out Niko and don't mind commuting from a distance. I highly recommend Mr. Malek

Not only that, he chatted with me as he worked--I really enjoyed learning about his passion for brass instruments and the band he's part of. We had a Gibson ES-125T that had a really bad broken neck. My son had inherited it from his…read moregodfather so it held a lot of sentimental value. my husband and I decided to work with his girlfriend to sneak it out of his apartment and have it repaired as a Christmas surprise. After calling around, I was told to take it to C. B. Perkins and "if they can't fix it, nobody can." This place is amazing! In addition to knowing all there is about guitars and guitar repair, these guys have so much history to tell about the music scene in the Bay Area. They were very upfront about what the cost to repair it would be and whether or not they could even repair it in the first place. They explained that this would take a while to get fixed because of the work involved, but that didn't bother us because again this is a family heirloom and we really wanted it repaired. They did an incredible job. I think all in all it took about 2 to 3 months to repair it. My husband and son went to go pick it up and they were in the shop for probably three hours just talking about the guitar, its history, and music in general. I can't thank them enough for such great experience! If you're looking for a quick fix or don't want to spend a lot of money, this is not the shop for you. But if you are serious about music, serious about guitars and stringed instruments, you won't find a better shop to go to. We have a sitar that needs repair and I'm hoping that they will do work on it but if they don't, I know that they will know the right place to take it to.
