A gentleman, whose name I don't remember, headed out to my truck, shimmied under the spare tire cover with his back on the parking lot gravel, and let me know it was going to be cheaper to pop the lock and replace it rather than making/finding a key to open it. They had a suitable lock in stock, so that's exactly what he did. I don't remember the cost, but I remember thinking it was more than reasonable. Soon, I was on my way. When my front door lock had a metal piece fall from it, I knew who to call and I even got a live person who answered the phone! Andy at the shop gave me Victor's cell phone number, since Victor was out in the field so he could make an appointment. Victor picked up his phone when I called and I explained my situation. We set an appointment for Victor to come take a look. Victor texted me the evening before the appointment to confirm and he arrived exactly on time the next day. Turns out, someone did a bit of DIY on this lock prior to my ownership. Victor ended up replacing some parts with parts correct for this application (and not bent) and adding some reinforcements to the slot the bolt slides into. My deadbolt is sliding like it never has! And all at a very reasonable cost. Two things I have learned after many decades on this earth. I called the number below and the guy that answered said "24/7 Locksmith" I was quoted "a minimum of $75" for them to come out and open the simple lock. He said it depends upon how complicated the lock is and the "situation..". The guy arrived in an unmarked vehicle. When I showed him the lock he told me it would cost $149 PLUS a $29 service fee! Needless to say, I was NOT happy and the employee texted his "boss" who agreed to waive the surprise service fee and knock the price down to $120. There is NOTHING complicated about this lock. It is a simple bedroom door lock. Although he appeared to have locksmith tools he didn't even attempt to use them, he tried using an airbag to separate the door from the jamb. When that wouldn't work said he could either damage the door or drill out the lock. We paid him the service fee and sent him in his way and will figure it ourselves. The invoice he provided said the company name was 24/7 Locksmith, but no address or phone number was listed on the invoice. When I googled them and did a search for them on the Secretary of State website they were not listed as a legitimate company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Don't make he same mistake as I did. Ask for their proof of licensing and insurance.
