I brought my preowned car that I have been driving for about eight years, which was still in pretty good condition, however, it had quite a few little parking lot scuffs, marks, and a couple little paint transfers from people opening doors into it that I couldn't buff off. Brought it in and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. Looks like a brand new car. Had the interior detail detailed as well. Brought it in about 11 o'clock on a Thursday and got a call at about 11 o'clock the following day that it was done. Where should I start? Perhaps with them telling me they "disposed" of the good parts they took off my car and can't give them back to me when I asked for them, only for me to find their employee selling my parts on Facebook Marketplace as "brand new condition." Or maybe with them overcharging and scamming the insurance on everything. When the insurance refused to pay nearly $400 for cutting the lug nut locks (because they didn't call me to get the key), they started harassing me. They threatened to keep my car unless I paid the $733.20 difference, even though they hadn't asked for my approval on any repairs. I dropped off the car and wasn't involved in any repair decisions; they communicated directly with the insurance. When the insurance refused to pay the extra amount, they tried to make me cover it. I asked for documentation of the insurance approval, but they never provided it. Essentially, they tried to rip off the insurance, and when that didn't work, they tried to rip me off. After all that drama, I got my car back with numerous issues. The sun visors were installed incorrectly, the new headliner was poorly installed, and they didn't even bother to replace a plastic pin on the door. The rubber pieces around the window they replaced looked terrible. I initially overlooked these imperfections because I was busy with school. But seeing my car parts, which I paid for, being sold online by their employees was the last straw. They told me the parts were disposed of, but that was a lie. This is a business based on deception and theft. I contacted the owner, hoping it was just an employee acting unethically. Unfortunately, the owner didn't care, which indicates this behavior is their business routine. They will likely respond to this review to appear innocent, but you can judge for yourself based on my documentation. The owner of Star Auto Authority admits that they're not always lower in price than automobile dealers, you are always better getting your car fix at the dealer because if you own a Honda you get a fix at Honda it comes down to price you go to them for cheaper prices. It's not the case anymore. Bottom line the way I see it is because I had my car fixed there two times prior. They didn't think I would check the price but they were wrong and they got caught. As for their loaner cars when I did use one once the car was so dirty inside I didn't want to touch the steering wheel or sit on the seats. They are very old with extensive mileage on them. The total cost of my Honda was $656 they wanted to charge me $800 plus tax that's a considerable difference. And his response to my review is laughable at best.... Consumer, beware !! read more

I've been coming to Star since they were established as a business. A little more expensive than "your local shop", a little less than dealerships. I've NEVER had to bring my car back for the same problem more than once. (Before I started coming to Star, I've had some repairs take 3 or 4 comeback visits at other local shops). Chris is great! He's the kind of service advisor that will tell you if your car DOESN'T need something. You get a free loaner!!! They've literally given me a loaner car for a 1hr oil change so I could run errands. When I had them working on both of my family cars, I got 2 FREE loaners!! You also get a free hand wash with every service. Star Auto is pretty fast, honest, slightly expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for, and can be comfortable knowing they fix the problem properly the first time. read more

Terrible customer service experience. I would take my care in for a repair and then I would get it back with something else wrong. This happened multiple times. Then they would not even acknowledge that it was their fault. They wanted to charge me for some other service to fix the problem that I never had until I went there. I am a feet manager of a medium sized local business with 25 vehicles in the fleet. I found this business because it is central to our home office. I needed a place that could turn out my vehicle services and give me advise on the long term care for them. I found the place! The crew at Star understands our needs and understands that simple things we do ourselves like, bulbs, wiper blades, Air and Cabin filters and that all our vehicles have extended warranties and somethings need to go the dealer for the cost saving, they have contacted the warranty company on a few issues and helped us out, but sometimes vehicles have to go to the dealer. Star has greatly reduced that need comprehensively, with keeping our budget in mind. They have never left us hanging, all work comes with a 48 months/ or 2 year warranty. With a fleet that's a great thing. Oh, and they wash every truck, we have ladder racks on most and they take care of it as part of our normal serivces with the facility. This place is not the cheapest but when you want cheap you usually have to go back sooner for repairs and that's not what our company wants to have to do. We see our trucks lasting longer and having less break down since we have been working with Star Auto Authority. brought my car to them and was told it had a terrible oil leak. They informed me that the leak required they replace the oil pump for $1944. 81, plus a $75.57 charge to clean a de-grease following the repair (plus $60.71 for an oil change). While they were in there, they told me it made sense to replace the power steering pump ($1023.70). The total cost for all the work they did was $4,405.36 on 2/15. Driving away from the repair, I could tell something was off. It was making a weird sound. When my car started SMOKING, I brought it in to another shop who informed me it's still leaking oil (from valve cover gaskets) that's dripping onto the catalytic converter and is a FIRE DANGER. Oh, and the weird sound I was hearing was a bad power steering pump, and it's also leaking power steering fluid. I took it he car back to Star Auto and was told they'd replace the power steering pump (they have to; it's under warranty), but they take no responsibility for the oil leak and are telling me it's "a different leak" that seems so have gotten worse. Their argument is that they listed valve cover gaskets (a thousand dollar estimate) as something that MAY need maintenance , "down the road." We are a month "down the road" and the car they identified as having an oil leak is STILL LEAKING OIL. They refuse to address this issue and are insisting it's unrelated to their work. Who even knows if the oil pump ever needed replacing to begin with? All I know is that I brought them a car with an oil leak, spent a TON of money (my car has 120k miles) and my car STILL has an oil leak. In the interim, I grew suspicious of their honestly and integrity when they recommended my husband's car needed a new battery (among other expensive repairs) bc his, "failed the battery test" and was, "leaking battery acid all over." Knowing that we had recently replaced that battery, we picked up his car and brought it to a different mechanic who confirmed the battery was testing well and had ZERO leaking battery acid. My experience with Star Auto Authority was mixed. I was very happy with some things and extremely unhappy with some others. What I was happy about: - I was treated kindly - I was able to get my car in quickly before the next snow fall, this was very important to me as I felt my safety was a concern. - My car was very clean when I picked it up. - The facility was very clean and smelled clean. - The coffee and cookie station was a nice addition - I was able to get a loaner vehicle - Star was also willing to shuttle me in the event a loner was not available. - I received many thank you emails thanking me for my business. - The emailed report with images , this was a nice touch. (sort of, additional explanation below) What I was extremely unhappy about: I was taught a long time ago that when someone throws too many facts at you and interrupts you while you are talking not letting you finish your statement; it is possible that someone is trying to overwhelm you with information and is possibly trying to take advantage of you. When this happens I keep my guard up, but do not jump to conclusions until I do my research. Unfortunately after further investigation I did find that sadly I was being charged more than reasonable price for suggested work. o I was being placed in tires that were not necessary and overpriced. When I called back to discuss other options I was made to feel like I am making a poor decision and not concerned enough about my safety, but a lesser quality should be okay (his exact words: "not as good but, should be okay". When in fact I learned that good year tires are just fine for what I needed. The high end tires were overkill. o Breaks, I was sent a file showing images of my brake pads and rotors. Arrows showing me what was wrong and that I needed all new rotors and brake pads. At first this seemed great! But, this is no different than me looking at images of an ultrasound. If I am not trained what I am looking at I have no idea if what I am being tolled is valid. I just have to take their word for it. o Cost of brake pads and rotors. I was given a quote for new rotors and brake pads and labor. It seemed high so I decided to investigate. I was able to find out how much the brake pads and rotors cost that they wanted to put on my car. Let's just say there was a significant difference to what I was being charged. I understand that this is a business and I am willing to give a business a profit; however I am not willing to pay as much as they were charging for the parts. I called and explained that I know how much the parts cost vs how much I am being charged and gave them an opportunity to look over the quote again. I was told that it I was provided the best cost. And that I was paying for the best possible service as well. However, that is what the labor cost is for. This does not explain why I am being overcharged so much for the actual parts. o Again I was made to feel like I was not putting my personal safety as a priority. I was asked that if I was going sky diving would I pick anything but the best possible equipment to ensure my safety. "This is an amazing line" make someone feel like paying top dollar is worth it, right? Well for someone that is uneducated on the different types of part manufacturers and quality, the cost of the parts and the process to install the equipment, yes that line would for sure work. Bottom line: If you're the type of person that shops for only high end designers this is the place for you. However, if your more economical and are okay with generic brands that offer the same quality, you might want to consider doing more research before choosing Star Auto authority. Aside from doing the work ourselves consumers will always overpay for service. It is just how things work in today's society. However, it is up to us as consumers to find the best quality parts and service for a reasonable price. I appreciate the service I received and that I was able to get my car in so fast, however I do not feel comfortable taking my car here again out of fear of being taken advantage of. read more

We came away very impressed with Star Auto. We had noticed an occasional smell of coolant and intermittent smoke coming out from under the hood. For peace of mind, I called to make an appointment and dropped the car off the later that day. The facility was easy to locate and easy to access too. Star Auto has loaners available for those that require one. It's definitely a huge positive in my eyes. Pulled inside and within 10 minutes was in the loaner car and on my way to work. Star Auto has a very impressive facility-very clean, well-organized & the waiting room is comfortable and clean. The staff was very knowledgeable, professional and polite. They provide a complimentary safety & maintenance inspection to help identify any current or potential issues. Within several hours, I received a full report with pictures sent to my cell phone followed by a phone call from Star Auto to discuss the report and diagnosis. I really appreciated the thorough report with pictures they send to you via email/text. It was determined that the upper radiator hose needed replacement, and the complimentary 360 inspection service also revealed that my battery was nearing the end of its lifespan. In all honesty, this probably saved me from finding myself stranded somewhere down the line with a dead battery. Having an automotive background, I can tell you that everything they said was spot on and they did a nice job of explaining the procedures involved. For those of you who complained about pricing, not all replacement parts are created equal. Whether it's brake rotors or radiators- you get what you pay for. I prefer to have some peace of mind knowing that I have quality replacement parts on my vehicle that will last a long time and perform optimally. I picked up the car the next day and everything was how it was when it arrived- meaning radio presets were still intact along with the proper clock time. So often, this is not the case... The complimentary vehicle wash was a nice touch (and they did a great job too) I'm always one who double checks the repair after the fact to make sure everything was done properly. You'd be surprised how often they're not. Happy to report everything was performed to my satisfaction.. Overall, I'm very happy with my experience here and will continue to use them for my automotive needs. read more

The price for the alignment might not be the lowest but I've gone to places with cheaper prices and the work was not good. What good is a cheap price when they don't fix the problem? At every part of the transaction, even though I was dealing with different people, everyone know who I was and what I was getting done. They provided a loaner car for me so I was not without a car. I used to go here until i realized that I was getting ripped off. They told me that my brakes need to be replaced right away for $800. I went to get a second opinion because everytime i brought my car in they tried to tell me that something else was wrong. BTW....my new brakes that I got installed about 3 months later only cost $350. They always tried to make it sound like my car was going to fall apart if I didnt do everything they said. I am surprised that there are not more reviews here. We have been coming here for it seems like forever. It probably is a solid 8 years. We have 2 cars at the moment that are both 10 years+. We have been able to manage to keep both cars by planning maintenance ahead of time. Obviously there are times where things just break down but every time we go in, they store recommended work. We are able to look at our accounts online and get a loaner if we ask in advance. We have not really shipped service in a long time but feel we get a good value. The customer service is great and the Owner Mike has been very helpful over the years explaining the details of work needed, although everyone usually can help. Last year we got hit pretty hard with bills but ended up servicing a lot of the major things on my wife's car. All in all, between 2 cars we might have spent $6 but that was a bad year and still overall we spend less on repairs than a new car. We also take advantage of their Car Credit card which gives us 6 months same as cash to pay. This was the first year we needed to have some minor body work done due to us being rear ended and they were able to take care of that as well and it looked great. read more

I just had my Acura 2002 TL serviced here - I'd been using the dealer previously. I actually like my dealer and like the service I get there, but when I required some major work, I wanted to call around and see what other quotes I could get. When I called Star Authority I was given a quote over the phone, which is not always the case (often it's, "bring it in and we'll look at it"), but Andy was great with the quote. I also needed tires, and they were very competitively priced. I took advantage of their loaner car program, which was very convenient. The service I received at the shop was from Mike, the owner, and it was great service. Everything was well explained, no pressure to buy, and I did authorize some more work the car needed. I picked it up the next day, and was in and out of there pretty quickly. Did I mention all their work comes with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty? This shop is closer to me than the dealer, and I will be taking my other cars here as well. Dealer service (in a good way), more value for the buck, and more conveniently located. Due to circumstances, our car started to make noises, and thus the engine was damaged. We are fairly new to the area and had seen reviews for star auto authority. After setting the appointment and having the car diagnosed, the cost to repair would have left us struggling, and without a car. The engine could have blown up at anytime, so the engine had to be replaced. Thankfully, Star Auto`s amazing personnel was dedicated to helping us. We had the car under warranty, but without the help of Chris, a very skilled Star Auto personnel, we would be without means and out a car. Chris made multiple calls to the warranty people and really was dedicated to helping us. For almost 2 weeks we would have been without a vehicle, but they gave my husband a loaner car while our car was being fixed. Throughout the whole experience, Star Auto definitely put their best foot forward and updated us the entire time. I definitely recommend Star Auto Authority and Chris! I normally am skeptical with auto repair shops but this reputable establishment is more than that. I'll be going back for future repairs for sure! Last week I took my sister's car to Star Auto Authority for an oil change. When I got there, they told me it'd be about 40min for the oil change with an additional 20min if I wanted the free car wash (obviously I said yes to the car wash). Pretty standard. I went to the waiting room and was pleasantly surprised with free Starbuck's coffee and cookies. There were lots of magazines and even a small play corner for children. After about 45min, the employee I had talked to (I wish I knew his name because he was very helpful) came in and showed me the car and all of its problems (there were quite a few). I really know nothing about cars, so I had to ask him to repeat explanations like an idiot, but he repeated and explained very patiently in the least condescending way possible, which I really appreciated. So after all that, he printed out a sheet of the estimated costs and explained why certain costs were on the sheet and laid out all the options. He needed to replace all the tires, so he offered me a loaner car to drive back home, which I took. I'm not going to lie, it was really embarrassing driving an old Hyundai Accent with the Star Auto Authority logos and "Courtesy Car" plastered all over it, but it was clean, and it was a car to use. All in all, I had a great experience there. I know if you take your car in for an oil change, your next oil change will be $5 off, which is kind of nice. Maybe I'll start taking my car there instead of my dealership, which is slow, inefficient, and doesn't give free coffee and cookies. read more

DO NOT GO! TL;DR Spent $3,000 (declined another $6,500), didn't actually inspect my car, and the manager was extremely threatening. Do not be fooled by the free rentals that they provide. I will give the assistant manager Kaleb credit as he was extremely friendly and understanding. However that is where the positivity ends. (Last 2 paragraphs is really where I'm upset enough to write a review). I go to turn in my car for misfires. They replace the sparkplugs and ended up costing $1500. No problem. A month later I had to bring it in for the same problem. So already I'm weary, but I figured I brought it in the last time and they'll honor their repairs. Valve replacement another $1500. I get my car back and mysteriously the front grill is missing. I bring it back and they said they have no idea why it was missing and I must've turned it in that way. I take it back, give them the benefit of the doubt but I'm even more suspicious now. A couple of weeks later the SAME problem occurs. I schedule an appointment, but the check engine light eventually disappears and there is no problem whatsoever. Suspicious either way, and already my coworkers were suggesting I go to another mechanic. I was starting to believe they might be right. A couple of weeks after that (right before New Years), my car wouldn't start in the morning. Its freezing, I figure I just need a new battery. Get a new battery put in antifreeze and its fine. Next day car cranked, engine turned over, weak and died. Called their towing services and the lady was extremely rude. I brush it off, figured she's having a bad day, I had to go to an appointment so I borrowed someone else's car and figured I'll try to start it again when its warmer.Come back, start it, apparently it needed antifreeze even though I just put half a gallon in, its able to run so I bring it to them (late Friday before New Years). They call Tuesday and say I need a completely new engine (headgasket failure) and it will cost me approximately $6,500 (after I put in $3,000 already in repairs). I say ok, can I get some time to think about it talk it out. We talk it out, I go back and forth, I apologize for keeping a rental for so long. I finally make a decision after talking with my company Thursday night leave a message saying I won't be moving forward with the repairs and I will return the car the next day. Manager calls me back leaving a voicemail requesting that I bring it back asap (which is what I was planning on doing, but the fact that you had to call and request that even though I told you I was going to is already indicative of you not listening or caring about your customers). I get a call the next morning, a bit later an email, and then a threatening text all within a short window (which I can provide for evidence for anyone questioning the validity of this). So it seems to me not only did they not check to see if my misfire the second time was caused by something that could've prevented my situation and the shady events before it, the amount of complete disrespect leaves me no choice but to not only take my business elsewhere but write this lengthy review as well. read more

This shop is horrible. Terrible work and don't stand by it. They walk u to your car in the dark so u won't see the terrible paint job and won't stand by the next day when you returnMany other better body shops in the area. Took my car back a few months later because bumper was having issues and they try to accuse me of having an another accident instead of standing by the work. It's one thing to do horrible work but then to accuse customer of cheating them. Total unprofessional joke of an organization.
