On Friday, (7/2/21), while exiting my car on Main Street in Hesperia, my wallet fell unbeknownst to me from my pocket. I had just gone to the bank, and I held out little hope of ever seeing it again. Boy was I wrong, it seems that Ramon from VVTA found my wallet and turned it into his supervisor, John. John then went out of his way and drove to my house to personally deliver it to me fully intact. I was amazed and extremely grateful. I commend both of them for their honesty, time, and effort. I had accepted the loss of the money, but i was dreading the prospect of replacing my license, passport card, and all the other cards. If Victoria won't, maybe Victorville. The Greyhound station in Victorville has a cute brown reddish roof and white walls and looks like a little tiny mini Mission, and it's a useful building which is at 16838 D Street in the heart of Victorville, and it doubles as the Amtrak station. For me personally, it's really known as just a bus stop, but to locals and Californians, it's more of an Amtrak station than anything else. I wonder if they're going to continue to harass the seniors, disabled and our veterans. Some of the drivers have been ignoring their valid identifications and overcharging them, but they never accept responsibility or refund their money. Some of them live off cents a day (after their bills, rent, meds, ect), and having one ride stolen is still a ride to the doctors, drug store or even the food banks. In edition, they(drivers) have threatened people that they won't pick them up because they won't take their ADA, Medicare, VICs or alternative identifications (that this will be their "last time"). They're trying to force these individuals into going to "their" office and getting "their" city ID. How many wounded soldiers, physically/mentally handicapped seniors/disabled community members or people without limbs does it take to address the discrimination. Not everyone out there can waste a whole day to get there from where they live and come home, while trying to get a next day appointment with their doctors in order to fill out one paper. On top of that, sometimes these veterans or seniors have to pay $35 to get forms filled(every office is different). If they have their own cards and their state I.Ds, why are they getting bullied and threatened? read more

When I first started riding the bus, I noticed they would sometimes pass riders up but if you call the number posted on the sign and let them know your waiting they will make sure a bus gets to you quickly. I was scared too because some of the people on the bus are crazy as hell lmfao but the bus drivers are all pretty professional and make the experience as safe as possible. Thank you! Dumb driver of 52 bus route bus #622 took an unscheduled 10 min break to talk to a woman in a white SUV who flagged her down to talk. Totally ignoring her passengers one being a man in a wheelchair with groceries who was already on the bus before that stop. So there was no reason to take a long break. Or even stop there were no passengers getting on or off the bus when the woman in the SUV flagged her down. This entire company is poorly trained. Has no professional bones in their body. And if you try to get help with the company they tell you "get a car". This company is pathetic. People who can't drive depend on public transportation. This is disgusting. And the company does nothing. The public who are driving I advise you all to keep distance from the victor valley transit buses. They are driven by morons. Incredible - and not in a good way. I rode VVTA buses one day not long ago for the first and last time. The initial bus trip was OK. The second was a nightmare. Of course, lateness was a major problem, but there were many others - too many to go into great detail. Suffice it to say that there were lowlifes aboard, and VVTA needs to figure out a way to deal with them. Incredibly, there are NO bus stop signs where several VVTA lines stop in Barstow (near city hall). There is one electronic display on a metal post, with no markings indicating what it is for. It displayed a message, but nothing that indicated what bus lines stop nearby or when a particular one is scheduled to arrive. I have experience with many transit systems in Southern California. This was unique. Contacting VVTA through the comment form on the web site or via email was a waste of time - no response at all. read more

This review is specific to Barstow since Barstow Transit got fully replaced by VVTA a year-ish ago. The total takeover was good and bad for Barstow's buses. Good in that instead of those old rickety things with no shocks, you often get one of the big blue buses instead (though some Old Ricketys are still in the fleet). Bad in that VVT's pricing structure got shoehorned into the existing Barstow system, where it really doesn't fit and crosses over into being predatory. You used to get a free one-way transfer from one route to another, which makes sense as all the routes converge on a central stop near the library / post office. They raised fares by 25 cents, which isn't all that bad by itself, but they also totally eliminated transfers. So let's say you are over in Lenwood, which has literally nothing for grocery stores, and you want to go to Vons or Walmart to get food. That means taking the 3 to the 1, which means paying fare twice each way! Your best option in that case is a $4 day pass, which is a $1.50 fare increase over what you would previously have paid when transfers were still available. That adds up. Santa Rosa pulled this exact same sneak shit right before I left a few years back. They crow about "only" increasing the fare 25 cents ... but the REAL fare increase is eliminating transfers and forcing people to pay two to four times what they were paying before to travel the same route. I've found the actual drivers in Barstow to always be conscientious and do a good job, but VVTA as an organization is sloppy as hell and has a real "service with a middle finger" type attitude to it. read more

I commute to work at Ft Irwin everyday using VVTA. It's 78 miles one way from where I I live. I'll give them kudos for saving me wear and tear on my car. But I pay $180.00 a month for the monthly bus pass, and we (the passengers) get treated like crap! For example; last Monday, they give us a new inexperienced driver for the morning, and she didn't have her guest pass to get in on post, and the bus broke down making a lot of us late for work! Tuesday, AFTER a hard day work, we had to ride a a city transit bus instead of the MCI Greyhound like bus! The seats are not at comfortable! Barstow, which is 31 miles away from Ft Irwin, gets to keep using the MCI buses! And on that same morning, another inexperienced driver that missed a stop and she had to be guided by one of the passengers! There is no transit agency I hate more than these pricks. I've used these buses once in a while since 2009 and I have ALWAYS hated them. You say you're going to stand down for a few minutes, STAND DOWN A FEW MINUTES! I came all the way from Big Bear and missed route 15 by literally less than a minute. I call beforehand and they say the driver was going to stay stopped a few extra minutes and they didn't. Now I have to wait here TWO HOURS because they DON'T KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE. Only ride the County Route 21W/P bus on an average of 2x's a month, even though I need to more often. Half the time it's a disaster, starting with late, or no-show on schedule. Over charging for fares, Delays from incompetence, i.e. running out of gas, faulty equipment. Transfer connection leaves early, forcing passengers to wait an additional hour, making the rider late for any appointment. Calling in to report a pass-by can take as much as 30 minutes to get through to a dispatcher. Who, will lie straight to you. Supervisors insult you and threaten to deny you boarding after you complain about the late schedule, or absence of courtesy. Question: What is the point of having a bus schedule if passengers cannot rely on it? FYI: Bus service is to carry passengers, NOT pass them up, or leave them hanging, because you lack commitment & integrity, or just want to get to the other end of the route. To be fair, most of the drivers are conscientious, polite, & helpful. It's the few terrible one's who make the entire experience bad. One driver actually stopped to scold a wheelchair bound man for being in the wrong place. (county routes pick up passengers on the roadside without a marked stop.) Telling him she could not stop here to pick him up. Why(?) did she think it was OK to stop and scold him, but NOT pick up the passenger???? 30 feet from an actual marked stop???? Then she drove off, leaving the man to cross Phelan Road by himself, hoping he would get picked up in the opposite direction. The same driver did not stop at rail-crossings, regularly weaved over the center into oncoming lanes, & over the fog line onto the dirt shoulder. I do not recommend doing business with this company. They are rude as hell over the phone. I've had their workers put me on hold 30 mins, hang up in my face, talk reckless etc. They dont understand the concept of customer service. I've been late to work several times because they decide randomly to kick everyone off the bus to go get gas without telling passengers before they PAY THEIR MONEY to ride that their gonna do that. In my Experience Route 53 is the absolute worst One. Closely followed by Route 15 I see people have caught on that if any of your connecting busses to Lorene / 7th is late the bus will most likely leave you. I believe some of the drivers wait 10 minutes extra but don't hold me to this. A few days ago I had the nastiest rudest 53 driver ever . She refused my mom her day pass after SHE made the mistake of charging full fare . The cops came and everything after I paid her more than enough for both of our fares . Why can't you leave the regular drivers like Josh and Milford on the county rt 22 bus. On a few different occasions we had a rude guy who would yell at ppl, one time he was upset because he had to load a wheelchair on. His comments was like really on no not you again. Then he was upset because he had to drive the county bus and complained abt having to fill the gas up twice. Like he didn't like his job. Today we had an African American lady name Tanya very rude, not even smiling arguing with my husband abt disability. He told her 1 student and 1 disabled and she tried to charge more telling him he didn't mention disabled when he did. Crappiest bus company ever! Busses are NEVER on time! Half the time the bus misses the route all together. Many new untrained drivers that are never on time so riders don't make their transfer to the next bus. When you call to have a supervisor help no one answers the phones and when they actually do they don't help you at all. It goes to a main points in the High Desert Transfers are great and simplified and it is cheap and relatively comfortable (especially the new buses!) It only gets four stars because there is no direct Mission Crest-Mall route (which in my opinion should extend all the way to old town) -headway could be better but for the population and sprawl of the hi-desert it's pretty good... read more
