Just spent another awesome weekend here. I love this inn so much! The rooms are done up in an old-fashioned style complete with antique furniture. We always stay in room #4. It's just the right size, with the most comfy bed ever. The bathroom is awesome....sure, the jets in the tub are still broken, but bring bubble bath and you won't care. It's HUGE. Extra points for the cool old-fashioned wooden high-tank terlet with brass pipes (but good god does that thing flush loud). The only bad thing is that the parking lot is so small. read more

Love Love Love the Victoria Inn! The hotel is right off Main Street, which means it's steps from restaurants, shops and (of course) wine rooms. Each of their beautiful rooms is different and decorated in Victorian style decor. They even have a complementary breakfast in the morning which you can enjoy on the patio in front. I have stayed there twice and had a great experience each time. We also booked almost the entire hotel for our wedding weekend and our guests loved it as much as we do. read more

This is the best hotel in town! We very much enjoyed our stay in this romantic hotel. Tony was incredibly kind. They read the notes in our reservation and made our trip extra special. We had a few special occasions to celebrate. They are in a prime location next to restaurants and wine tasting rooms. The huge bath was perfect to relax in and the bed was comfortable. In addition to a clean and comfortable room, there was a cute little patio where we sat and enjoyed the fresh air. There was also a sports saloon across the way where we watched the game and a yummy artisan ice cream parlor next door. We had dinner within walking distance as well. For breakfast, they offered a continental breakfast. They provided gluten free and dairy free options!! That was definitely a huge plus. The owner was the one putting out the breakfast and paid special attention to make the best experience for his guests. We will definitely be back in the near future. Ok, not to steal a line from another reviewer, but truly do love, love, *LOVE* the Victoria Inn! We toured this place during our first stay in Murphys, and had it set in our minds that this is where we wanted to stay on our next visit. Was THRILLED to secure an AMAZING deal from LivingSocial.com, and the Victoria didn't disappoint! Originally booked for the fireside room, when I casually asked the day before we arrived if they had a jacuzzi, we were upgraded for free to the Anniversary Suite with fireplace, sitting area, balcony and oversized jacuzzi tub! The staff and service were AMAZING. The jars of cookies/brownies at the top of the stairs were a nice touch (we couldn't resist nearly every time we passed!) We found the continental breakfast to be perfect for us (yummy fresh fruit), and enjoyed bringing it upstairs to eat on the balcony in our room. The only downsides were the main V Restaurant was closed the days we were there (Monday and Tuesday), and we'd really enjoyed breakfast there a few years back. Also, for as nice as the 4-poster king bed was in our room, the mattress wasn't the *most* comfortable. Oh ... and be sure to bring ear plugs, as in the mornings (especially Monday), delivery trucks in the area were quite loud. All that was easily overlooked, though, as this property and its owner and staff were just AMAZING! read more

I think this would have been a 5-star if it hadn't been Murphys Irish Day - this place was slammed, and while the staff did they best they could, they were overwhelmed and service suffered. But, we weren't in a hurry, and they were very nice, and it was a beautiful day to sit outside on the veranda. The food was incredible... the Devil-something appetizer, a date stuffed with blue cheese wrapped with bacon and then caremelized... bacon dessert. Seriously. All of the other food we ordered was tasty and well prepared, though we were a little disappointed with the Proscuitto flat-bread... it was kind of blah, and the crust was wimpy. I'm extremely disappointed in this business from a purely human perspective. I don't often post very negative reviews but it is my hope that the business owner might change how they interact with someone in need. On my way to a neighboring town we stopped in Murphy's to check with the Victoria Inn to see if we could charge our Tesla for 10-15 minutes just so we could get to Angels Camp about 10 miles down the road. Due to the extreme heat we were down to 11 miles left and that's just cutting it so close. When I asked if I could plug in for just 10 minutes to get a few extra miles and make it to my destination I was told that it would be a $20 plug in fee. I'm sure they probably get asked all the time and I know that must be frustrating but to charge $20 for maybe 50 cents worth of electricity is shameful. I offered to stay there so that they'd know I truly only would be plugged in for no more than 15 minutes but they wouldn't budge. I hope I make it to my destination but on principle there's no way I can support a business that has no heart and no interest in helping someone that needs a hand. read more

I've stayed here before in one of the nice rooms overlooking the beautiful V Bistro courtyard just off Main Street. However, the recently remodeled eucalyptus room is absolutely stunning! We enjoyed a quiet weekend held up in the great space they have created here. We hosted family and friends and really enjoyed ourselves. I would definitely recommend this hotel and especially this room if you want something spacious or to entertain. It's like having your own luxury cabin! The owners live and breathe their business and serve their customers outstandingly. Don't pass up the V Bistro downstairs either. Perhaps, the best food in town! read more

We go to Murphy's a few times a year, but this was our first time staying at the Victoria Inn, but it won't be our last! So adorable! The rooms are cozy, staff was insanely accommodating and friendly, the location is unbeatable...it really was such a wonderful experience! Stayed one night in the Skyview (Room #8). Small bedroom - sleeps 2 average sized people (not recommended for larger couples - you know who you are). However, the bathroom is where it all happens. Plenty of space for a late night dining experience if your other half is a lightweight and passes out early. I enjoyed a delightful CA cabernet paired with a savory osso buco. The toilet is tucked away in a corner such that the acoustics mask any embarrassing sounds potentially caused by eating fried pickles paired with PBR. Friendly and helpful staff. Solid continental breakfast, including bagels and lox for the Jew in all of us. Didn't sense any ghosts or spirits which is worth an extra star or two alone. Good value. We stayed in the Eucalyptus room, which was really nice - large jacuzzi tub, big bed, and a mini-library and fireplace. Definitely glad we took some time to enjoy reading in front of the fire. Their cafe (V, I think it was called) had some really nice pastries, and good coffee - the people there were also really friendly. For the cost, even for their least expensive room, I've had much nicer breakfasts than their extended continental, with people squished into a small dining room. I spent more time waiting for the food area to clear out than actually eating, and the pastries were all awfully sweet. I would have expected house baked goods and some kind of warm dish beyond the oatmeal. Expectations for food were not clearly set on the website. Also, considering the luxury atmosphere in the room we had, I would have expected something more than a gold-plated version of those cheapie shower heads where all the separate little streams of water run together. All in all, since we don't normally have a gift card to subsidize one of the best rooms in the hotel (which really did make the experience), I don't think I would stay here again. read more

The Victoria Inn is a pleasant place to stay in the middle of a great little town. They have a very friendly and accommodating staff. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and felt invited (they offer fresh cookies on arrival, which can't hurt!). This is important because some B&B's maintain a snob policy and often give you the rub if you don't drive up in a late model German sports sedan. Our hostess explained the entire facility to us and was very knowledgeable. Rooms are nicely decorated, very much in sync with the surrounding town. Nice large wardrobes, tapestries, artwork, framed mirrors, and pillows. Our original room (#11) was too small for us so we upgraded to a larger room after we checked in (#7 - aka the "Doris Room" - whatever that means). The larger room was awesome with a wood stove, ready to go with a Duraflame log and lighter nearby. Other features include a large window seat, small balcony, and a big bathroom. The California King bed was very comfortable with clean linens and a large selection of pillows. I slept the entire night without waking in spite of more noise than we had expected from restaurant and courtyard below (kids playing, people partying/drinking wine late into the night, etc.). The best part of our stay was the good night's sleep and waking up with absolutely no back pain in the morning. Unfortunately, I tend to appreciate more modern bathroom technology and was frustrated by the old world shower curtain (that nearly feel on me), the standard shower head (not as good as my home shower), wooden toilet seat (feels porous and unclean) and an "early 20th century style sink" with the "built-in" spout that distributes water low in the basin, only allowing 1-2 inches of clearance between the spout and the drain to clean your toothbrush or try and wash you hands (makes you appreciate the "Bold Look of Kohler"). The large two-person tub was great except the hot water ran out after filling and the jets didn't work. I wasn't so sure either about the old-style water closet with the tank above my head but it worked great and was reliable! Wireless Internet doesn't work in all rooms but they do provide an old PC in the hallway to browse the web. Some might say, "leave the Internet at home," however, I need something to do while my wife is getting ready which can take a very long time. Plus, they don't have television (I need my hulu!) At 8:30 AM they serve a continental breakfast downstairs. Scones, breads, bagels, cereal, yogurt, and hot coffee were among the selection. It was nice. Being the antisocial type, I was annoyed by another patron who took forever making up her plate. I wanted to say something but I knew better and her husband was bigger than me and appeared to have a small anger problem. I found it tense waiting in the small room for my turn to grab a couple cups of coffee and a few morsels to take back to our room. Sometimes I feel the expectation to "make nice" and "socialize" with other patrons when we visit a B&B. It would be helpful to have the "I'm a grouch, please leave me alone until I get 3-4 cups of coffee in me" option, but, that's probably more my problem than that of the host!" Overall, this is a great place to stay. We slept great and were able to enjoy a wonderful morning in downtown Murphy's with excellent dining and shopping in the immediate vicinity. read more

The rooms here were not great. Ours was spacious but unkempt... dirty carpet, holes in the sheets, etc. My friend's was tiny. However, for this small town I think it's probably one of the nicer places to stay. The service, on the other hand, was phenomenal. They were so friendly and helpful. I'd stay again, but be careful to discuss your room size, location, etc. There is a variety and if you have high expectations you need to be selective. read more

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here.The staff were very friendly and helpful, it is in the heart of all the Main Street shops and wineries, and is very beautiful. We stayed in the 'Skyview' which was very small- I wouldn't stay in this room again (at least not with a baby in tow!). I peeked in two other rooms as they were being cleaned though (Sycamore and Opi's Cabin), and they were much more spacious. We will be coming back. In fact, I am planning a "girls trip" with my MIL & SILs for the summer! read more

This hotel is super quaint. We stayed in the anniversary room, and it definitely had charm. It is right in the heart of Main Street, providing quick and easy access to everything. This hotel is in a great spot downtown. There's a nice restaurant and bar attached. Rooms are charming and some have attached balconies. There are other rooms that are actually small detached cottages as well. The staff was WONDERFUL. The only drawbacks were that it's a bit noisy in the mornings... vacuum cleaners fire up at about 8am (even on weekends) and many of the rooms have large jet tubs but there's never enough hot water to actually fill them and use them. You can take a 5-10 min shower and that's about it. I'd stay here again but just be aware. read more

This is the best spot in murphys! We stayed in the Goldfields room which came with a spacious bathroom adorned with a claw footed tub. Unfortunately, because of Covid they don't have a clean up service or complementary breakfast. But, they are very accommodating! We called for a couple extra items: towels, trash bags and extra pillows. The rooms are a bit thin: be careful about hanky panky because families with children can be your roommates! (Oops). They do have sanitizing stations and tea and coffee machines set out for convenience. Parking is difficult but if you snag a chance to park right next to the hotel, DONT move your car! The spot will be gone in a heart beat. The hotel is next to The Man Cave, Toystore and a couple stores down from The Grounds. I can't wait to come back! Bf got it for our Memorial Day trip to Yosemite. It's a B&B type hotel located in downtown Murphys. The room was comfortable and the bathroom is spacious. It had the claw foot tub and vintage bed and chair. There was a little problem with the service. They forgot towels in the bathroom and we had to call guest assistance at night. However, the overall experience was nice and the price was so good compared with the nearby hotel/ motel. One big plus was that it had a great restaurant next door! read more

Additionally, the location was very ideal as it was in the middle of the town so we could easily walk to restaurants and shops. I just received a gift card and my tube of fancy pants butt cream for my baby that I wrote off half way home (I remembered I left it on the bed:( ). I work in the service industry myself and know that what they just did makes people come back again! I don't expect a lot, but what I do pay for I expect! I think what they did is WAY CLASSY! As far as the restaurant, we'll go back to the Murphy's Grill next time to drop our $200.00 for dinner. We ate there once before and had a much better dinner than the V Restaurant! I wanted a room with a fireplace. We got the room with the fireplace....here's the catch. The lighter they left for us to light the fire in the fireplace was out of butane. Lovely. Everything was closed at that point. ARGH! The bathroom goodies were all opened and half used! Overall the room was nicely sized and clean. I would definately recommend this place! read more

Meh sums up our stay here! We booked a surprise trip for a friend and specifically asked for the room with a fireplace and balcony so we could just chill and chat. We booked through a discounted place and when we got there and checked in we realized we hadn't received what we asked for. So we spoke to the GM and she said oh well it's not like you paid for it. Super annoying and she actually was very rude about it. So we calmly explained the product we did pay for (albeit at a discount but that's not the point) was not what we have received and the room was TINY making a much needed get-away very uncomfortable. The decor was hideous. Like some bad 80's hotel. They had chopped the bottom of the (plastic looking) curtains of and couldn't even be bothered to cut them straight hahahaha it's was so bizarre! The ladies running the desk did NOTHING to even try to accommodate us. We'll be looking at other hotels in town next time we come to Murphy's Ok, so an update to the review I posted yesterday. The owner reached out to us and was very apologetic hence the updated 4-star rating. I do feel as though the staff should have handled our grievances as soon as we made it known after that's what the manager is there for right?However, we are not always in control of what others do even if we have employed them in the service industry to "troubleshoot" I appreciate the apology and offer of room refund and look forward to returning in the future​ read more

We just got done staying at the most beautiful little place in Murphy's California we stayed right on Main Street in a condo with a quaint little deck, beautiful living space and two bedrooms which was just perfect for me and my sister for a weekend getaway with our husbands. The town was so quaint and friendly we did not want to leave. We felt the price was reasonable for what we got we walked down to Murphy's Irish pub and had excellent food on Friday night we were so spoiled that when we ate the next night at the Murphy's hotel we wanted to go back over to the pub and eat again. 31 winery's on Main not to mention great shopping. It was a great trip for us and next time I'll remember to bring food because they have a full kitchen with everything you need to cook a dinner or lunch or breakfast. Oh I almost forgot they have maid service every day for the little condo we stayed in which was awesome. I will recommend this place to my family and friends 100%. The gals at the front desk were excellent and most informative. If you forgot anything they have a little store at the check-in spot for any of the rooms which has things you can buy also an excellent option. read more

My husband and I came to the Victoria Inn for our anniversary trip. We have never come before, it is a very charming place and we most definitely will be back. Our room was the Eucalyptus Suite. There is a small kitchenette area with a sink, mini fridge, and microwave. The only bummer was that when we checked in, there were some smelly leftovers that had been left in the mini fridge. The sink in the kitchenette area also frequently backed up, so doing our dishes made it a bit frustrating. Other than this, we had a very wonderful time. read more

What a surprise!! My girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights. Our room was awesome! The bed came with steps and the room had its own library. There is NO TV which was great because vacation is not about TV it's about spending time away from it all. The staff was friendly and room was clean. We did not eat at the hotel's restaurant so I can't give my input there. Place was quiet and comfortable. You couldn't have a better location, right in the middle of town. We had a lot of fun in Murphy's and will return in the Fall. I highly recommend the Victoria Inn. It's more geared for couples. read more

My wife and I stayed here for a few days recently. The room we stayed (Wisteria Cottage) in was very nice and clean.
