Our family member (age 82 with declining memory) ended up here, courtesy of Regional Hospital up…read morethe street....OMG...we got a call the following day saying that he "Slipped out of bed." When I visited, there was 1% monitoring and NO GUARD RAILS on his bed. This is for a man who had broken hip surgery several days before and barely able to move himself at all. "No injuries to report" was all they had. Never never ever allow your loved ones to be locked up in a facility that requires appointments to visit. This sorry joint promises "we'll call you back in the next business day" but don't. Virtually zero communication with me, even on demand. They force you to just show up and DEMAND attention from management. I'm likely to remove him in the next day or two. Lining up something near Phila that has professionals employed. Just another case of American Healthcare ineptitude while the owners get rich with little apparent concern over the well-being of the patients nor of their loving family members. UNSAT.

My mother was a resident in their subacute rehabilitation center for approximately six weeks…read more During this time she was basically bedridden, as she is elderly and was there for a fracture in her lower back. She required assistance for bathroom needs and dressing. She was often left in bed to have an accident, without any help available to come when she called - sometimes for over an hour+ after pressing the call bell. The response to this was to put her in adult diapers, without an incontinence problem ever having been present prior to her incarceration there. Sadly, she also contracted Covid while there, but luckily remained basically asymptomatic. During this stay she took three falls, the last on a Friday where we were told she was unharmed. After an entire weekend of her calling us and crying of extreme pain, we demanded an x-ray on Monday, which revealed a new fracture in her thoracic spine. This went untreated through the weekend and would have continued to go untreated had we not insisted on the follow-up. Complete incompetence and definite negligence throughout her stay. Also, with the Covid infection rate in the facility high we were unable to visit our mother, so our only connection or attempt at monitoring her health was through the staff. The phone would ring for hours without anyone answering at the nurses station. This was not an anomaly, but the norm at Genesis Court House Center. There were several instances where her room phone was out-of-order (another chronic issue) and the nurses station was unstaffed, resulting in several instances when we were not able to reach our mother or the facility for two - three consecutive days. I fully realize that with the advent of Covid and the extreme stress it has placed on health care workers that glitches and occasional faultiness in care is to be expected, especially when dealing with rehabilitation centers and nursing homes, but the low standard of care and medical treatment that our mother experienced in this facility bordered on abuse. We have since moved her to a different facility, and although everything is not perfect, she is getting some level of care. I would score Genesis Court House with an "F" for EPIC FAILURE.
