I am a Marriott Titanium Elite member and have stayed at many Marriott properties, but this was one of the most uncomfortable and intrusive experiences I've had. Despite having a Do Not Disturb sign clearly displayed, hotel staff entered my room without my consent, later explaining that it was a "wellness check" required when a room has not received housekeeping service for three consecutive days. However, no attempt was made to call my phone, leave a voicemail, or contact me in any way before entering. In an era where every guest provides a phone number at check-in, this should have been the first and most basic step. Entering a guest's room while Do Not Disturb is displayed is a serious violation of privacy. Additionally, I had requested and received towels directly the day before, and I had declined housekeeping at check-in, which contradicts the claim that my room had not been serviced for three days. To make matters more confusing, management later focused their response on the presence of my service dog, asking me to confirm if I was traveling with a dog. However, my dog was present with me at check-in, so it is unclear why this suddenly became a concern or why it was brought up after the unauthorized entry. What was most disappointing was the response from Danielle Powell, Director of Operations, who repeatedly justified the situation rather than offering a sincere apology for the intrusion. The tone of the communication felt confrontational rather than customer-focused. Overall, this hotel is a very poor representation of the Marriott brand. Privacy and respect are fundamental expectations when staying at a hotel -- especially when a Do Not Disturb sign is clearly displayed. I did an overnight stay with my family last Monday. We paid for an off-season price and were grateful to stay at this hotel. Most importantly the location was great. Everything was close to this area. There was a restaurant inside the hotel as well as a pub within walking distance. I never heard of any noise throughout the stay. It was pretty quiet since we stayed at penthouse. View was fantastic. Bed was comfortable and cozy. Gym and swimming pool are was quiet. I got to use gym and swimming pool whenever convenient. Although didn't experience any issues, breakfast was not complimentary. Aside from that everything was good! read more

We had previously stayed at the Fairmont Empress hotel and were looking for something more modern this time, still centrally located downtown and reasonably priced. I'm so glad we chose the Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour. We arrived in Victoria by seaplane and found the walk from the terminal to the hotel took about ten minutes. There was a short wait at check-in, and our room was ready when we arrived just before 4 p.m. on a summer Friday. Our friends' room wasn't ready yet, so we relaxed in the M Club lounge, which we had access to through our American Express booking. The M Club was spacious and stocked with complimentary snacks and drinks. A server stopped by, and we enjoyed happy hour menu from the hotel restaurant while we waited. Not long after, our friends received a notification that their room was ready. While there are three elevators, they were very slow and often crowded as a result. Once we reached our room on the 15th floor, we found it comfortable with standard amenities. It didn't feel especially upscale, but it worked well for our stay. This is a dog-friendly hotel, and we did have one minor issue: a nearby dog barked nonstop around 10:30 p.m. We called the front desk, and within 15 minutes the barking stopped, allowing for a quiet night's rest. We checked out the indoor pool, which was stocked with plenty of towels but packed with loud, splashing kids. We ended up moving to the hot tub instead. There's an outdoor area adjacent to the pool we tried to access, but the door was malfunctioning. Another guest helped us exit, but we couldn't get back in and had to walk around the building to re-enter. The lobby restaurant was a highlight. We stopped in for late-night drinks and received excellent service. We also experienced the Petite Chef themed dinner, which featured an interactive projection show right on your plate with delicious food. Overall, I really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel, especially if you're already part of the Marriott rewards program. read more

The hotel is centrally located and you could walk to many restaurants nearby and so is the parliament (about 12-15 min walk) Also it was my dad's birthday and I messaged them through the app if there is a cake or something that they could send and even was willing to pay for it. But the staff was too nice to send us a slice of cheese cake with a happy birthday written on it. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and nice views if you are staying in the upper floors .. definitely going to stay here again when I am in Victoria next time. read more

We had a very comfortable 5 night stay in this hotel while attending a conference. Check-in was efficient and we were surprised that the room was cleaned spotlessly each day of our stay. The beds, sheets and pillows were very high quality and we slept very well. One peculiar issue with our room was that we could hear a little too much of the bathroom activities of the guests in the room above us. We never heard voices or other disturbing noise, so the lapse of soundproofing was localized to the bathroom. The hotel is nicely located a few blocks away from the throngs of tourists who pack the waterfront and Courtney Street. We found many excellent dining options within a short distance, and also walked to Beacon Hill Park, Fisherman's Wharf and throughout the old town. We would love to visit Victoria again, and would stay again at the Marriott Inner Harbour. I spoke to the Chief Concierge, Louis Tremblay, the night before we checked out to inquire about cabs to the airport and he assured us that a cab would be waiting when we were ready to check out. Someone even hand delivered the cab reservation to our room the same evening. We checked out a little earlier than anticipated, and Mr. Tremblay arranged for an available cab to take us right away. We are unaccustomed to such excellent service in our travels, and appreciate that everything went smoothly for us. read more

This hotel was a perfect location that was walking distance from the start and finish of the Royal Victoria Marathon and race expo. In addition, it is conveniently located by restaurants, shopping, and the harbor. Also nearby is the Beacon Hill Park, which is great for a stroll or jog. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. I can't express how terrible this place is. The only positive about our stay was we were able to check in early. We got to our room and our windows were so dirty from kids handprints. The thermostat didn't work and the fan in the bathroom was broken. We brought this to the front desks attention and never got moved, not even a sorry. Our room was never cleaned the entire stay and we were there 3 nights. The icing on top of the cake is I left my toiletry bag hanging on towel rack. 100% certain. My toiletry bag had a lot of sentimental items (jewelry) in it. Our check out was noon. They had 5 hours to communicate to us we had left an item in the room. We are from out of the country. We spent hours on the phone with people that were unwilling to help and continued to lie to us saying it wasn't there. Stay far away from this hotel. We stayed here so we could spend the day in Victoria BC. After spending most of the day at Butchart Gardens and having high tea there too, we came into Victoria proper checking into this hotel. It's definitely nicely appointed and the service is very good. The staff is very attentive and helpful too. Despite the construction going on in the area, we had a good stay. Right around the corner is a Starbucks and you're within walking distance to a bunch of restaurants. Of course there is the harbor and all the sights there as well as the parliamentary buildings. read more

The hotel is in downtown area, within walking distance to everything. Valet parking only for this swanky elegant hotel. The staff were all super friendly! The place is clean and high end style. The lobby is huge couches inbetween the reception area and the restaurant. We got a beautiful corner suite 1106 that had views galore! A balcony we stood outside on and soaked up the residential architecture. This is by far one of the nicest suites we have stayed in. The M Club (hubby is elite member) was really nice as well and offered us happy hour, dessert time, and snacks and drinks, and breakfast. We definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a mid range price. We will be back to go to The Gardens. I could only upload 10 pics so I can't share everything ;-) read more

Needed a hotel in Victoria that allowed pets and the Marriott was accommodating and was reasonably priced. Located downtown, a couple blocks from the harbor. Walking distance to the Empress, History Museum, Parliament and plenty of restaurants. Parking is located underground. Upon arrival, check-in was smooth and friendly. Our room was warm and cozy with comfortable beds and plush bedding. Free wi-fi. A couple of notes: 1. They expect you to take your dog with you if you leave. That was a first. 2. We stopped into the restaurant one morning to inquire about getting a coffee. They said they were more for breakfast. No matter, we strolled on over to a coffee shop. Fantastic hotel. I'm on a very long work trip and this has been the best hotel. Firstly, I don't take elevators and there are stairs going up and down which is a huge relief for someone like me. The rooms are actually quiet. I'm not sure if it's cement or what but the walls are solid. There's a nice bathtub which I was desperate for with foot issues. It's also very clean and there's no carpet in the room which makes for an easy yoga practice. The people are very nice and love that it's close to everything. We came up to Victoria for the weekend with some friends and decided staying downtown was our best bet to officially experience the area. There are two Marriotts in Victoria, one in the downtown, this one, and another that is just across the water. We found this one to be in a very nice location to be outside of the busy Streets, but only a few blocks from them. The other Marriott, while nice, is located across the wharf and while it's not super far away, it's much less convenient to get to the downtown area. And while we were there the entryway and foyer where a new construction. The blue tarps were a very nice touch, but we didn't get a great feel for what the place look like when entering. They were definitely making do with what they had, and it's never as convenient to track your stuff into one of the back room ballrooms to check in. Nonetheless, everybody was pleasant and accommodating. Our room was up on the 15th floor and had a really nice view of downtown, the band the mountains. It made for a really nice sunset watching it made it much more pleasant to just hang out in there when we were tired. The TV was an excellent size, But it does take some getting used to the channels. I imagine many Canadians feel the same way when they travel down to the states! The beds were very comfortable, we have the option of either to Queens or one king. The bathrooms were larger than expected, and it made getting ready for bed easier as there was more space than usual to spread out. They have nice showers and kept everything very nice and neat. The coffee maker in the place is the standard not as nice as you have at home option, but gets the job done when you need caffeine. We had access to the lounge on the 16th floor, and it too was very nice. Lots of space to spread out, complementary nonalcoholic beverages and a very nice array of finger foods during happy hour, as well as a nice breakfast in the morning. The only negative about this place was the fact that the lounge wasn't open late and was closed Sunday and part of Saturday. They gave us a complementary breakfast downstairs or points to Make up for the closure over the weekend, so that was nice, however it would be nice to be able to go in and grab random snacks or drinks when we get back late. Again, very first world problems. The Internet here was good and allowed us to stream Netflix whilst in our room. It's available both in the rooms and in the lobby, though on separate networks. Like everything down here, the place is relatively expensive, though we found it to be slightly less so than many of the other high-end hotels. All said and done, we were very happy with our choice. A slight expansion of the hours of the lounge, in conjunction with the renovation, and this place will be top notch! read more

We were told that the accessible (for potential guests who use wheelchairs) rooms had grab bars by the toilets -- this was told to us three times on three separate calls to the hotel (not central reservations). The most recent call was the morning of our reserved/scheduled two-day stay. We went to our "accessible" room and found that the only grab bars were in the shower. People who are unable to transfer to a toilet without grab bars would not call this room accessible. Hotel staff and management were kind and tried to be helpful, but there is apparently only one room in this hotel that is truly accessible, and it was occupied. Management made arrangements for us at a nearby hotel, but it took several hours for us to recover from our "reservation". If your definition of "accessible" is that the doors are wide enough for a wheelchair to pass through, you may be fine, but if you need grab bars to use the toilet, please try another hotel. The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) was passed in 1990, but Canada has no such regulations. Even upscale new hotels in Canada leave much to be desired for people who are disabled and in need of wheelchairs. read more

We stayed 4 days, from 5/17 - 5/20, and it was a great experience. Stephen, a concierge, was able to tell us how far of a walk it would be to various places. After getting idea of what we were looking for he also provided us with a couple of suggestions. He also assisted us by booking a package trip with transportation to the butterfly gardens and Butchart Gardens. Matthew, a concierge, spent some time talking to us on a couple of occasions in the 16th floor concierge lounge; he was interested in feedback regarding the places that we visited - stores, restaurants, attractions. We booked two rooms here through Priceline. I think the price ended up being about $20 cheaper for each room. This hotel is in a great location with all the downtown attractions within easy walking distance. My favorite part about this place were the ultra comfy beds. After staying at my parent's and in-laws on lumpy beds and air mattresses for a few days I was in need of a really good sleep. The bathroom is also very nice. The staff was friendly and accomodating, especially the doorman. If you stay here check out the bar as well. I travel frequently for work and fun and have become a bit of a connoisseur of hotel bars. This one is great - nice soft lighting and classic furnishings. We had a couple of delicious martinis before venturing out to dinner and the bartender gave us a great recommendation for the restaurant.. read more

This is a fairly small hotel, for a Marriott, but that's good! Small is nice and personal. The rooms were pretty quiet - we didn't hear noise in other rooms, and traffic noise isn't bad for being in the city. Super friendly and helpful staff all over the place. Every time we got into the elevator and a staff member was there, they took over the elevator operation and were amazingly gracious. Free wifi in the rooms - kept the kiddo happy. Just a few cons - beds were too hard for me and there was an unfortunate sliver of light that fell across the pillows on the bed even with the drapes pulled shut. That tiny amount of light at 5:22 am was enough to wake me up. Parking is $16/day. The parking garage is pretty small and narrow in spots, so if you have a large car, you may have trouble. Overall, pretty nice place within walking distance of lots of things downtown. read more

I stayed here the day after I was married. I remember the travel to Chicago, than onwards to Canada, our home and native land. Well not native, but it could be within the next two years. I enjoyed Vancouver International Airport even though we made a mistake on which airport to land at. We found this out later, but I am glad we landed here, because the Airport is amazing. I will go into more detail when I write my review on the airport. We found after some wonderful experiences at the airport that we were 45 minutes away from the airport. We called the hotel to find out if there was a shuttle that picks us up. Unfortunately there was none. We continue to talk to one of the front desk associates and he gave us useful information on what we could do to get to the hotel. (when I made my bookings, I specifically requested to go to a airport that had a shuttle to the hotel. It didn't happen.) While waiting around in the airport, I saw some cool Canadian vests you could buy. Yes, most Canadians don't buy their own merchandise showing they are from Canada. I was also aware this would peg me as a tourist...HEY!...I am a tourist. I bought it and now wear it proudly. I have had a number of people ask me if I am from Canada. I was tempted to say yes. The bus right was very scenic and made me happy that we came the way we did. We saw more of British Columbia than we might have seen at the Victoria Airport. At the time I was a Marriott Employee so the discount was fantastic. I had an easy time checking in too. The guy who helped us on the phone had left for the day, but we left him a big tip for when he came back. I unfortunately can't remember his name now. The requests I made for our room were met. The staff were a pleasure to be around. One might think all Canadians are friendly, but that would false. Anyhow, I saw that there was a storage been that could hold wine, but it stayed that it wasn't a refrigerator. I called the front desk asking for a refrigerator for our honeymoon. Not only did the staff members of the Victoria Marriott Inner Harbor bring a refrigerator, but they left roses and dark chocolate for us. Since I don't eat dark chocolate, my wife enjoyed it all. I decided to surprise my wife and bring her a bottle of champagne. It did not last an hour. Bought a second bottle and I am glad we had the refrigerator for some of the food we bought. The hotel room wasn't very big, but it suited our needs. I loved the balcony the room provided. We spent some time out on the balcony enjoying the view and spending time with each other. Thd hotel had swimming pool, but we never used it. The restaurant Fire&Water was wonderful. The restaurant came in handy for breakfast and lunch. Because of the Marriott discount, the food was half price. Evidently word got around that we were on our honeymoon. The staff of Fire and Water were fantastic and we came back to get the same waitress we had the first time. Unfortunately she was off the next day we came back for a third time, but her friend was just as good. Our housekeeper who cleaned our room did a fantastic job and from what I saw, she did not cut corners. I liked seeing a housekeeper take pride in her work. I strongly believe they knew I worked for Marriott Housekeeping Department in my area...how would they know?...because of the form I dropped of at the front desk. Front desk would have notified housekeeping. Went I worked as a front desk associate, I notified housekeeping too. We made sure to tip the lady for the excellent job she did. I went one extra step and stripped the bed just before we checked out of our hotel. Call it a housekeeping habbit. This hotel experience was fantastic and when we come back to this hotel, we will be sure to stay here again. Oh, the Canadian money we say back in 2014, was colored and had plastic in it. I don't know if it is still like that, but we forgot to get a take home a souvenir of it....maybe next time. read more

Why is it that Marriotts can be so modern on the outside and so frumoy on the inside? That aside, this is a comfortable and clean hotel. The beds are comfortable, but not like those in Starwood's hotels. The location is very good, a short walk from the inner harbor. The free wifi was fairly fast. The concierge was knowledgeable and friendly. A cleaning rag left in the shower by housekeeping was disposed of quickly and in a friendly manner. We did not try the food options. Loved the 9th floor corner balcony with magnificent views of the Olympic peninsula in Washington, especially at dusk. I would stay here if visiting Victoria again. read more

Spent an early spring weekend in Victoria, my first time visiting the city and this was where I stayed. The rooms were comfortable and although I was worried about noise due to being in a room close to the elevators, it was quiet at night. The Wi-Fi is a bit slow but it is free so it worked just fine for keeping up with email and looking up someplace to eat for dinner. We ate at the hotel's restaurant for breakfast, the buffet seems the better value. Parking costs extra but street parking is impossible so budget for the extra $16 CDN that will cost. The entire Harbor area is easily walkable from the hotel location. read more

I feel like this hotel is an excellent juxtaposition of old vs. new feel. They recently renovated the lobby so it's still yet to receive the final treatment but it looks great to me. This is my second stay at this hotel. Service: Staff are extremely friendly and willing to help in any way possible. Amenities: They have a small "business center" which really only fits one person at a time. But that's ok, it's not mean to replace a legitimate office space. It's for quick tasks. I was able to use it to print some things off for my meeting. They've got a pool and gym. Those are good too. The restaurant downstairs is also pretty nice. I only ate breakfast there but they do a good job. Again, the staff there for brekkie was very attentive. When I come to Victoria I would only stay here. It's also close to many restaurants and not too far from the water. If you're weed friendly there's a dispensary not too far from there either. read more

Don't expect the best service from this hotel. Especially if you are platinum elite, they don't take care of you. Above and beyond? What's that? They just do the bare minimum for elite. If you want to bring a guest to the concierge lounge, they charge $15.00 per extra guest. Room with a view my ass! Not of the Harbor, but you can see the Doubletree next door, where you would have a view. I guess we are a dime a dozen to hotel management. If you're elite, book somewhere else, maybe then they'll treat you better. If your paying for your room, I'd book next door at the Doubletree, they have cookies and great service I'm sure! read more

Been to Victoria several times and we always enjoy it. This time we stayed at the Marriott Inner Harbour and we were very pleased. The hotel is a great value in comparison to other nearby accommodations. It is also well located nearby all the major shops and attractions. The decor and design is well thought out and the staff were very quick at check in and check out. They have an awesome lobby bar and offer a fitness center as well as indoor pool and hot tub as well as steam room. Everyone we interacted with was very friendly and went above and beyond at every opportunity. They seemed genuinely happy to be there and it came across well! read more

We were put in a room on the second floor next to a wedding that went on all night. When you are paying $200 a night for a room you should expect to be able to sleep. We were finally offered to move rooms, but that's very inconvenient in the middle of the night. Wedding receptions should not be going on next to rooms where guests are sleeping. Location is good and amenities were decent. The hotel is in need of a refresh as room decor seemed a bit old. Also lacking the usual view you get in a Marriott club. This one was on the 1st floor and no windows. As a titanium lifetime member, the service received was subpar. I had a reservation for 3 nights and requested for a suite upgrade. I called the hotel late in the afternoon (past check in time) to check if an upgrade was available before making the reservation and advised I would be checking in within 2 hours of the phone call. Carlos, the manager said that there was only 1 suite available for the night and he would secure it for an additional $50 CAD/night since it was the last one. This was a very unusual transaction for a lifetime titanium member. Because I was nearing the hotel, I agreed to the extra cost. After checking suite availability the next day for the rest of my stay, the suites were available throughout the weekend. My understanding was, the charge was due to lack of suite availability. If the suites were available the next few nights, why was I charged for all 3 nights?! at most he should have just charged for the first night! read more

Cliff Notes Version: Would I stay here again...the let down really let me down, so I can't say they would even be my 4th choice. The Long Story: This was a last minute booking for the Labour Day Long Weekend to attend the Victoria Fringe Festival. Yes, this combination made it a bit pricier than usual but I was looking forward to it. As the previous reviews have mentioned, it is: 1) 3 minute walk to the Empress Hotel and the Harbour 2) Close to Restaurants and Shopping 3) Great location (and fairly quiet) for being Downtown 4) Was a good place to stay for various Fringe venues 5) Underground parking, $16 a day. 6) Concierge KNOWS what they are doing and makes things happen - fast - two thumbs way up. We had arrived in town just after 12pm...with the usual check in being at 4pm...it was a pleasant surprise to be given a room earlier - good experience. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant, standard offerings. Waiter was attentive and conveyed to chef how I would really love to have my eggs done and they delivered. Another good experience. The Concierge and the door staff were always smiling and helpful, ready to answer any questions - awesome. The room itself we were in was a decent size, large bathroom, 1 sink but 2 people could be in there at the same time. Free WiFi (decent speed), new flat screen Samsung tv, mini "fridge" (didn't really keep stuff cold) but the windows do open which was a surprise. As far as the room goes, my main complaint had to do with the air filter vent (which with the door to open it is 4 feet high by 3 feet wide) located next to the entry's closet, right across from the beds. This was partial open the time we were there...you could see the dirty filter and the last service date noted was in 2003. All of which for someone with REALLY bad allergies, well, let's just say I wasn't in the room much because I was super stuffed up. When we made mention of this, a lady staff member came right up to view the issue as well as a fellow from Engineering - whom were not a lot of help (he jammed it shut) and explained they replaced the filters every 4mths - that a dirty filter was good for us as it caught "more toxins in the air." With my voice just about gone, red puffy eyes and constantly blowing my nose during this conversation, I can't really say my body agreed with this assessment. Getting sick on vacation is not my idea of a good time. They then they tried to figure out my other allergies..."What about cats & dogs? Someone could have snuck one up here to the 5th floor - we really only allow them on the 3rd floor but it's happened before". At this point, I really don't care. On checkout it was disappointing to find 1) that they thought it was "appropriate" to credit the 2 days of parking ($16 a day) as a result of the filter incident and 2) the next time we booked we should make a request to confirm there is a recent filter change in the room (REALLY??). So while there are some good points about the location of this hotel - some of the staff's attitude just rubbed me wrong. read more

It is a rear case of a Marriott hotel that doesn't feel as a formal cookie-cutter chain hotel. I don't know what was the reason, most likely the friendly and attentive personnel. Upon the check-in, all room arrangements were done very quickly and efficiently. The only small disappointment from the personnel was that the lady at the front-desk said (in response to the reservation request "room with a nice view") that they had only "city views", and there are no specifically good views, while that turned out not to be quite true: One side of the hotel does face the harbour (albeit that it can be seen only from the upper floors - see the photo by yelper(s) JoeandKAri C.), and there are mountain views even from the 9th floor as can be seen in the photos of Steven H. here on Yelp). I understand that the rooms with better views might not have been available, or not available for the relatively lower rate that we paid, but I was disappointed by the false statement. Overall, enjoyed our 4-day stay in late May of 2014. NIce: - very convenient location within walking distance to most destinations, - free wi-fi (but insufficient bandwidth), - nice sound isolation between rooms (but not between the room and the corridor), - great friendly and attentive personnel, - quick room cleaning with attention to detail, - high quality set of shampoo/conditioner/shower gel/soap items, - bathrobes in the room, spacious room, - very comfortable pillows, - free refrigerator upon request. Could be better: - very few and hard to reach power outlets (especially near the bed) [21st century!] - wi-fi capacity is insufficient: in the evening, when everybody comes to the rooms, it was slow beyond tolerable. [21st century!] - restaurant is overpriced and so-so in quality, - parking is very expensive ($16/day for self-park!), and it got full Saturday night, and this is on top of the quiet expensive rooms. - the "bar cooler" in the room is useless and is just taking the space inside that piece of furniture. A real refrigerator would be a welcome (permanent) replacement. 4.5 stars read more

Great location to access everything downtown! Every staff member we met was incredibly nice and helpful. I mentioned it was my father's 65th birthday at check-in and there was a beautiful dessert waiting in the room for him. We will definitely be coming back again! read more

Hello! Sorry, my English is not good... It is Jean! I visited some French Canadian relatives that live in Victoria, and stayed in the Marriott. First impression was good, nice front desk, but small room. Very small room... not nice. Beds are comfortable, but I ask for microwave and they bring a bad one in. Good location but rude staff. They also talk about me behind my back. When a staff was fixing my mini fridge, he had a radio walkie-talkie. Some woman was on it, saying that a French man in the room I was in, was complaining that the microwave wasn't working. The man fixing the fridge didn't even shut the radio off or tell her he was with me! What? She kept complaining about me, but I was being polite on the phone and I left a tip for room service! After all that, she gave me apology but it wasn't very good, and then gave me a coupon for breakfast. A coupon. Seriously? I was expecting a free night or something like that! Bottom line: for an expensive hotel, it was not impressive. read more

Upon arrival at 3 PM, there was no bell service. Had to lug bags myself. At check in, we were told our rooms wouldn't be ready for a "few hours." Rooms were finally ready at 5. Our view was of a planter box. The breakfast buffet was very good and the staff very helpful. Real maple syrup for the waffles, not the brown goo passed off as syrup we get in the states. Overall, the location can't be beat. Walking distance to the harbor and Empress. Hipsters have invaded Victoria! Ugh. Why can't these guitar strumming pretentious punks stay in Portland? read more

Technically my review is 3.5 stars (can we finally get half stars please?), but I followed rules of mathematics. You can't beat the location, right behind the Empress, a block from the water, and within walking distance to tons of restaurants, shopping, etc. The rooms are pretty basic and small, but do the job for a single traveller or a couple. Beds are mediocre, definitely not the Westin heavenly bed, but not terrible either. Bathrooms are only large enough for 1 person at a time. Room service (the menu is small) and breakfast options were all very tasty. You can order your breakfast the night before, hang order on the door to have it delivered at your specified time frame in the am - very nice option. I am a huge fan of late night or all night items and these guys only had 3 :-( This hotel is not very big, yet they had a very nice fitness center and a pretty good size indoor pool with jacuzzi and a wet sauna which is open till 11 pm. The service was extremely accommodating. Staff is patient, genuinely nice and helpful with any questions or recommendations. I would stay here again. read more

Kudos. Perhaps a bit of a 'hidden' gem at/near Victoria Inner Harbor. Here's why were made to feel most comfortable and appreciative: +1. Our trip inward to Victoria was by car and ferry. A long day for us....but we were satiated upon arrival. The front-store staff was most inviting, supportive and attentive to getting us unloaded and check-in was a breeze. Additional thanks and consideration was most appreciated - an upgrade to a 14th floor view room and complimentary self-parking (underground) which saved us 15.00 CDN per night. Thank you, Marriott! +1: A cozy lobby bar with reasonable prices and a very attentive bartender. We were ready to move on to a city-dining-spot after several beverages by all. +1: Indoor pool, fitness room (modest), steam room, jacuzzi, showers and ample towels. We truly appreciated this each afternoon or everning. "Open 24/7!". +1: Kitty-corner to The Empress; easy walking distance to Wharf Street and the Inner-Harbor. +1: Rooms (our room) was a 'traditional' Marriott lay-out, nicely sized, free wi-fi (we asked, the front staff 'gave')....and HIGH SPEED, as I write. Nicely sized bathroom (marble countertops and full shower), coffee makers, iron and ironing board, bathrobes and slippers (wow), small chill box (not a reefer).....only thing lacking (but no deductions) is no flat-screen tv viewing (at least in our room). Oops, that's +5.....well....we very much enjoyed all of the above. Hopefully you will, as well. read more
